This thread is for any discussion or questions related to the mission Show Off by Grandmauden.
You can download the mission HERE or HERE.
    The contest thread is HERE.

Please give clues instead of outright solutions when helping others and use the spoiler tag when you do this.
This mission features French and German translations, as well as subtitles. You can enable subtitles by editing your user.cfg file and removing the semicolon in front of enable_subtitles, or adding enable_subtitles to your user.cfg if it is not there.

Remember that this mission, and by extension every mission made for the contest, is for THIEF 2. As such, do not load it with Thief 1/GOLD! It is highly recommended you do not use the Enhancement Pack and/or HD texture packs to play this mission. It is also recommended you uncheck all optional features T2Fix comes with if you update to the latest version of the full executable.

Excellent museum heist mission, this will rank high in my anniversary challenge top.

Just finished this one and what a step up from The Hunt (TDP20 anniversary). It's bigger, more complex and much better built than The Hunt, but I'm not a ghoster preferring to knock the brains out of every guard I come across so found it relatively easy as there was no massive challenge apart from getting into the correct position before sending our friends to sleep, ghosting this mission may well introduce an extra level of difficulty.

With a such a nice big town to explore I'm surprised I couldn't get into more houses and so find more loot, but the museum was very well done, lots of nice marble, well designed and just about the correct number of guards without going OCD in their placements. There's are no major puzzles to solve, just one simple one involving find a key but I only found 1/3 secrets so will need to play again.

    A good solid 7/10

Nice mission, it's always educational to visit a museum.

Did anybody find all the moostone rings which the guard Larry carelessly lost? I only found two of them ...

I found one, but it was glitched under a bucket. I couldn't move the other buckets either so I assume they all fell under, if that's where they all are anyway.

Did anyone else figure out the cipher thing? I found out the message, and what I assume to be the keyword, but I don't know how to get a code out of it.

@venkus: Only one of the rings is in a bucket. The rest are...elsewhere. Keep your eyes open.

@JonesCrusher: There's no way to catch the other thief, so Garrett has to settle for that objective being canceled.

Where did you find that message and where that member of the Encryptors lives? I've searched the whole city for it ...

That was really good mission. It starts really boring with big and empty city. The only parts well done are marketplace and last house. Rest feel like a filler. This city part really feels unnecessary. It would be better if you would cut city part and make museum bigger, because that's the meat of this mission. And it looks amazing. I liked placement of the guards and watchers. There is challenge and I love it. Plenty of loot. It's not fully polished, because there is a lot of signs that are unfrobbable, but still it's great fun.

I beat this mission in almost 1,5 hour and got 3701 loot and 2 secrets.

Hint: You need boxes to get to it

Bigger hint: Northwest side, past the market area

Thanx, I didn't expect anything interesting "behind closed (unfrobbable) doors".
A big well adjusted jump did it, too.

EDIT: Finished this one with 3850/4160, you can keep the rest ...

Any clues for the combination? I have the jar code, but the encryption booklet leaves me with more questions than answers

What I have so far is

    AOARD
    FFPNF
    FWHST
    E

    which becomes

    ADNH
    OFFS
    AFFT
    RPWE
    1234

    which becomes

    HAND
    SOFF
    TAFF
    ERWP
    4132

Not sure where to go from here

I think it's the jar one, which is:

    EFRVN
    ZOUIO
    ROFEE

But I'm at a loss as to how to figure this out

    Well that clears it up.

To figure it out you just need to reorder the letters a little bit. You start from top to bottom, going left to right. So it would read as EZR as the first three letters, rather than EFR

If you're still stuck, here's the whole process

    EZR
    FOO
    RUF
    VIE
    NOE

    ZER
    OFO
    URF
    IVE
    ONE

You're pretty much done. All you have to do is read all the letters left to right, adding spaces where necessary and ignoring any extra letters at the end.

Managed to find all the rings:

1:Lower floor. Store cupboard, in bucket.
2:Lower floor. Sitting room, E side of atrium, under table leg on S side.
3:Lower floor. Plate room. Behind pedestal 2nd from L.
4:Lower floor. Room with big statues. Behind S statue..
5:Upper floor: Tower room, behind E case.
    6:Upper floor. Bathroom, LH cubicle.
7:Upper floor. Bridge over atrium, NE corner, outside rail.
8:Upper floor. East end balcony, behind door next to frame.

3501 loot, including encriptor's safe, but only found one secret...

Azaran: The encriptor, in his diary, says he has put the safe code on the Jar. Now what could thekeywordpossibly be?

This cipher text puzzle is easy when you show solution, but still I have big problems. For example - 2nd puzzle is GOBLET:

    OYREA
    OIAVV
    VNLDE
    LNN

Text has 18 letters and keyword (GOBLET) has 6. 18/6=3, so I get this:

    OEIVLL
    YAAVDN
    ROVNEN

No matter how I move columns, I can't make any words out of it.

Galaer: Move the columns into the alphabetical order of 'GOBLET', currently 351426 ('B' being the earliest letter, 'T' the last)
    You get:
    I L O V E L
    A D Y V A N
    V E R N O N

    Now read it!

Ok, then what is the code?

Nice mission! I'm always fond of museum heists, and I think the use of watchers despite the time period it's set in worked really well. I think it could have been improved if more was going on on the city streets surrounding the museum, but otherwise everything is great. I suspect ghosting would be a real challenge, though I haven't tried myself.
