Think there's 9 (?) scenarios total. I wanted to do one for every character, but ran out of object IDs and patience.

So 3 more to go I seriously hope you gave that bastard Raymond a murder case. If not I will have to falsely accuse him of the murder so I can see him hang

    Anyway, awesome mission Nick!

All right, only 1 more to go. Case 7 and 8 for me were

-Elizabeth Duncan (the wife). Poisoned him with crushed water hemlock. Reason: Duncan had an affair with Agatha Harkwell
Darcey Malveine (daughter). Poisoned him with deadly nightshade. This one was the hardest for me so far cause I had trouble finding any clues. Reason is obvious: Duncan converted to the mechanists

Btw there was also one thing I did not understand:
When Elizabeth is the murderer, there is also a note from the lawyer in the cooks room, telling her to follow the doctor and see where he goes. The diary of the doctor also speaks of some secret, which the lawyer knows about. What was that about? It kinda sounds like Elizabeth had an affair too?

All right I managed to get the last murder case (after lots of trying) - 9/9 - Pretty cool

    Last one was:

-Judith Belcher (the cook): Killed him by putting poison in his food and he died in his office. Reason: Her son was stomped to death by Ducans horses near his house and she wanted revenge.

Btw sorry to spam this thread, but playing through all of the cases was a real blast this week! The only question thatīs still open for me is the one I asked in my post above this one.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's not related to the murderer, it's related to the vault code location (which has 10 possible locations). In this case, the code is in the lawyer's room, and there are clues to indicate that he got the code by blackmailing the doctor (see also the doctor's journal and a letter from the head of security in Darcey's room).

Ah so thatīs what it was about. Makes total sense, but never would have guessed it. Now that you mentioned it, I did wonder why the vault code was in the lawyers room. Usually itīs either in Duncans room or in his office. It was in the guards barracks once too.

This FM provides everything I love. A complexe manor, a solid gameplay and an investigation.
When I play investigation games, I usually write everything on a paper, old school style. There a few games that are so complexe that we need to do that. And this mission is on the list.
To satisfy your curiosity, this is the A3 format paper I used. You will recognise many things I think :

    Thanks for the great fun!
I still do look for the Jack of Diamonds? Where is the giant hammer?
Found it - Southeast Tower, 3rd floor.

Edit: And I still miss some parts of Gregors Revelation - I would happily be able to read part 7, 9 and 10.

Excellent and beautiful mission, by the way - in storytelling, by architecture and by gameplay. Definitively a top tier triple excellent rating.

In my case it was Elisabeth, the wife of the now deceased Lord Duncan Malveine.
Very beautiful story of a typical murder case - jealousy after finding out her husband cheated on her, the right type of poison in her room, no alibi, acted strange on day before murder. Something classy you would read in a crime novel

    Just finished this masterpiece!!

Thank you nicked for this well-crafted mystery! Finished with 4791 loot (missing 220), all secrets, all bonus objectives, all missives, all playing cards. Needed hints on the forum for 4 cards, 2 secrets, 1 missive and 2 bonus objectives. Thank you to those who post nice, soft hints without direct spoilers, much appreciated. I correctly accused Darcey Malveine for the murder, and framed the cook (quite randomly). Very sad to see she died due to my actions, that doesn't seem in the spirit of Garrett really. Thank you to Samantha1 for her breakdown of all possible murderers. I was wondering if all 16 suspects from the starting readable could be the killer. Very clever use of randomizations, without making it tedious. The playing cards seemed over the top at first, but the books of suit really helped.

That was the original plan, but I ran into just about every limit it's possible to hit with this mission. Also there were originally quite a few more characters; testing showed it was confusing and overwhelming so I merged several characters into each other. I think if I was to redo this concept I would have made it a much smaller location and without any extra stuff, so that replaying it a few times in a row was easier.

@klatremus: A small request for your upcoming let's play: try not to scout ahead before you begin recording. It'd be cool to see some improvisation.

Oh absolutely! Each restart randomizes a lot of variables, so it'll be as new to me as to the viewers. I didnt read any spoilers regarding murder scenarios, so I dont know the details surrounding each permutation. I just know that there are a lot of possible murderers (though not all 16 from what nicked said) and the vault code and placement of body and hints change, I've heard. This will make it difficult to plan a route, but I take it that's what you would like to see.

@nicked: Is the location of the control panel for the electrical floor randomized upon starting the mission, just like many of the other variables (for example the murderer)? If so, is there a 25% chance of it being in each tower? Also, is this information always found in the vault security manual, and is this always located in Duncan Malveine's bedroom? Finally, is the information on the location of this switch found anywhere else? Thanks

The reason I am asking is if it is located in the northwest tower, then that forces a Supreme bust. If it is located in any of the other towers, it doesn't.

Yes the location is randomised between the four towers. And the vault manual is the only place with the instructions and it does not move.

Thanks! Additionally, what does the control panel in the clocktower do? Turn off the clock...?

Turns off the spotlights illuminating the clock if I recall correctly.

Thanks again. Fantastic mission nicked, truly top tier this! I cannot imagine how much work is behind all those randomized variables and different ending messages. That must be so complicated to keep track of. The only complaint I have is that the bonus idol objective didn't provide any loot. It almost didn't seem worth it to me to go through the trouble of getting all those cards, making the keys and entering the vault only for a bonus objective. Even if the idol was only worth 1 gold it would've been fine. But zero?

Raymond's dungeon also didn't have loot, which was a bit disappointing. I feel like in order to get all the loot one should have to visit all locations. But that's just me. Nothing against the mission, just nitpicking.

The only mistake I found was the door on the ground floor from the winter garden to the hallway outside the theatre disappeared multiple times on me. Also, the guards switching weapons during a normal patrol was odd, but the info file already touched on that.

    Wow, what a mission!

The atmosphere was amazing, I got immersed enough to actually get goosebumps at certain parts. I was immersed enough to worry that the mission would go Gaetane's The Den style horror after collecting the idol.
Doing the detective work of deduction was fun as well, very rewarding to come up with the correct answer.
I really enjoyed the security setup as well, and how to work around it.
The secrets were also very inspired by t2, in that they were based on navigating to holes in the map, rather than the thief gold type of rabbit holing deep into danger. (I like both obviously, damn this fm is inspiring! What a treasure), you nailed the t2 style in many ways.
I also feel like the shutting down of up to half of security cameras was a bit t2-esque, in thief gold you always have enough resources to neutralize everything (except for the maw I guess), but in t2 you had to make choices. Appreciated that you could turn off the cameras after the heist to start focusing on collecting alibi's and cards, basically turning the mission into a completely different thing, precisely when it was meant to. The card location books meant that I didn't have to ctrl+f scour the ttlg thread as much either, very good way to mitigate frustration
Sorry for the spoiler-tag heavy post, just such a damn inspiring fm.

And it is replayable as well!!!
Fantastic mission, one of my favs, thank you for it.

Wow, this mission was brilliant. A truly gigantic mansion with beautiful environments and clever setups, I loved charting this one out. I've had a few notepads set to keep track of some secrets and of course, the mystery. It was really fun figuring it out and I felt delighted when I got it right. I got somewhat worn out and gave up on getting all the cards once I had already visited every room I could find but it was still fun always being on the lookout for them. The intricacy of the mansion means that you can get from one place to another quite easily once you've figured the layout out, which was very nice as it could have been a bit of a bother going around otherwise since the place is super huge. I greatly enjoyed this, thanks for the delightful mission Nicked!

    Book of Diamonds

I've searched extensively in the Library, but cannot find it. Is the locations of the books random?

Those books are not randomised. The book of diamonds is on a bookshelf, next to a window, lower floor, south west.

Just finished this. Correctly identified the killer but didn't bother with all the cards. Called it quits after 4.5h. What a mission! I didn't even know Thief 2 was capable of a lot of the stuff in here (selectable mission entry point, random guard patrol patterns, the whole randomized killer thingy) Awesome job, nicked!

I just had to come say how much i love this mission. As a fan of murder mysteries, this mission hits like no other. It's probably my favorite mission of the 80 or so i've played.
