spoiler:Check above the sarcophagi.
I have gotten to the little office & through, but I can't get through the next door. Help would be much appreciated!
spoiler:Check above the sarcophagi.
Thanks Fitzambey, but I still can't figure out how to get up there![]()
I got through the bookcase. I just can't figure out how to get the metal door open a couple of rooms down. Fitzambey says it has to do with the sarcophagi, but I can't figure out how to get up there to check it out.
This one will drive you up the wall.
The metal door is opened by aspoiler:ship's wheel above one of the sarchophogi. Just retrace your footsteps a little.
The next door is openedspoiler:by a tiny switch underneath the chest in the room above the room with all the sarcophogi.
After that it is plain sailing!
This mission is so annoying. Well done to the author!?!?![]()
PS. Missed the secret.
Thank you Origami Thief![]()

I'm to the same grate (just past the sewer lid) but can't get it open - and the ship's wheel doesn't seem to do anything. there is also a frobbable torch, but I can't figure out what that does, either![]()
spoiler:You need to climb up to the left side in the dark. Look up to see a switch.
I had missed that, Dude, thank you...
I feel like I'm having more trouble with this mission than I should beI've gotten to a girl in a pit and a locked door - what now?
spoiler:Kill the girl.
I think I'm in the same place.spoiler:I think she's laughing at me.The girl seems indestructible. I've hit with over 100 fire arrows and she's still standing.
Yes, it takes a loooong time to get her down.
You need lengedary arrows![]()
I can't get past the door behind which there's a room with two torches (that are visible through the door) - how do I open that? Or should it be picked? I noticed that even though I "bought" the lockpicks in the loadout I don't have them (and just to be sure that they don't show up in the inventory despite being bought I restarted once too).
Does anybody still remember what to do there - I thought I should try to finish this mission even though the contest has is over long ago.
I got to a room with a small elevated pool and 4 torches and the special arrows. I really cannot figure out what to do next.......![]()
Plllzzzzz...........Anyone can help?????![]()
Check your emails, maga.![]()
Thanks Nightwalker, I finished it with your....ehm.....help!![]()
The pagan woman near in the big room with the pillar in the middle refuses to die.
Should I have kept the "ancient hammer" and tossed it at her or something?
Is there a special way of killing her or something?
Why are these types of FMs the most enjoyable?
The pagan woman in the pit can only be killed with Lord Dethstayj's infamous set of indestructible arrows. I shot 120 fire arrows at her and she did not go down.
I came close to completing Shadows of Darkness without hints, but sadly, I missed a ship's wheel mounted on the ceiling above a sarcophagus. Strangely, I had fun playing this small puzzle mission. Visually, it is awful of course, but somehow the gameplay holds up. My final stats on Normal difficulty were 79350 of 85100 loot in 29 minutes. When I was stuck, I spent probably another 10 to 20 minutes shooting arrows at objects and blind-frobbing for hidden levers before I reloaded an earlier save.
Shadows of Darkness features a couple of "classic" elements that I have seen in other Total Crap FM Contest missions as well:
- Hideous architecture, texturing and lighting.
- Bad roombrushing, resulting in rooms without sound.
- Broken mission objectives. In this one, half of the objectives are marked as completed before you even start the mission.
- Ridiculous storylines.
- Bad voice acting.
- Awkwardly written journals and scrolls. The diary of Lord Frederick in this one was especially funny: "I'm gone oh no it's too late there pounding on my door NO! NO! N-"
