Looking for the name of a fan mission? Ask here!

Here is a dedicated thread if you have memories of a Thief fan mission you played in the past and now can't remember its name. Usually the users in this forum will be able to identify a mission on the vaguest of hints, but if you want to make it easier for them and get a fast answer, please include as many details as you can in your question. Also, if you can, state which game the fan mission was for (TDP, TMA, TDS or The Dark Mod).

This thread has mod approval and will be linked in the Thief Fan Mission Forum MEGA-STICKY Thread.

When people inevitably post a separate thread asking for the name of a fan mission, notify a mod and it will likely be merged into this thread.

    An old T1 mission...

    Gerhard Eichberger

I remember that I have played once a mission for Thief 1. It was a small mission. There was a piece of loot (I believe a goblet), and when I took that I could fly. This was then absolutely necessary because taking this goblet opened a trap door under me. (If I remember correct this goblet was standing in a window in a large room that was nearly empty and the ground of this room was going upwards. After taking this goblet I could fly, but I believe only for a short time, then I fell down (and had to be not too much above so that I don't take too much damage).

What mission could that be? I think the file was not large.

I have one from thief 2 i am trying to find, i am sure i saw FenPhoenix play. I asked him but sadly he couldn't help.

The mission seems relatively small, it's small a square plaza you start in, surrounded by walls on all sides. Your objective is to find why your being haunted by a training dummy (it's later implied he is the very first dummy Garrett wacked in the training level), the level mostly consists of climbing (with n without rope arrows) each side of this plaza, getting into various rooms and doing your objective of finding out more about this haunting, alongside the loot goal. The "dummy" would keep spawning notes to taunt Garrett through the mission, i recall.

Despite the silly premise of a sentient training dummy haunting Garrett, the FM tried and succeeded in pulling some jumps cares, with the dummy showing up out of nowhere in the mission.

I remember the end of the mission is a duel with the spirit of this dummy, which takes the form of a robed skeleton on fire, which i belive hurled fire bolts at you.

Hopefully someone can help, FenPhoenix suggested Deceptive Perception, but it's sadly not that one.

Could be Terra's Roofs Of Gold?

Nice try, but I'm afraid people will open a new thread as always ...

Is it The Tower of St. Moria? You played it in August 2020.

    1st Snow Mission Ever!

Hey guys, when Thief 2 came out I was fascinated by the rain & fog effects, but then some fan came along and replaced the rain with snow I sat there a good long time watching the flakes coming down. Anyway, does anyone remember the name of That FM? I asked about it years ago & yeah I started it again in Florida & yet I never finished it. I remember that FM was pretty big. I remember sliding down a hill in the snowy woods with tree beasts and that's as far as I got... Can anyone remember the name of it?

The 'Masque of the Red Death' is a fun one too. Thanks Fortuni for remembering That one An FM that introduces dancing AI's WARNING!! The song will stick in your head for years to come

@Acolyte6: my first was A Winter's Night in Christine's Lord Ashton series, soon after finding TTLG and fan missions, and I had the same feeling of amazement. You're about the same vintage as me here so maybe it was that one?

@Acolyte6: I checked Fan Mission Listing by Type thread and found out that first winter mission was Crom's Blade from 2001. You mentioned that it was released together with Masque of Red Death (2004), so it's not the mission you are looking for. Winter missions from 2004 are: TTGM: Chasm of the Lost part 1 and A Thief's Holiday 2004.

    Nope

It's none of those, darn it.. In the beginning I remember walking around in the snow and into a hideout/den with a river inside, it had doors & treasure & equipment & stuff, then all these open spaces in a mountain range with ape beasts. Was fascinated by the snow. Actually it came out around right after the release of T2.

My guess exactly, clearing. I think that's the one. A nice obscure mission from the old days.

Not much to go on, but I remember playing a T2 FM way back in the day (probably '03 or earlier) with a Tudor-style hideout filled with downwinders. I remember starting off under a covered courtyard, with a couple thieves patrolling and one guarding the front door of the Tudor home.

I don't recall anything else about it, except that getting into the house was quite difficult (for me, when I was in middle school). Any thoughts?

Was it a sunlight mission? If so then maybe Melian's Method.

I think that might be it! Thanks! (And very impressive you could get it from such a weak- and in some ways, wrong- description!)

    Stronghold

If anyone decides to play it & get stuck? I found the walkthrough @ https://thief.fandom.com/wiki/FM:T2_...ic/walkthrough

There are 2 walkthroughs, a lootlist and a Lets Play posted on the All the Walks thread but I'll get that walkthrough added as well.

I didn't trawl through Thiefwiki as the vast majority of walks (AFAIK) on that site are just paste and copies of walks already posted on Thief Missions, which is the same site that Ricebug used for the source of a lot of his early walks.
