I think some of them would deserve the praise, human or not, especially the themed ones which have been fed some aesthetic fodder (which still comes from humans).

But interesting aside, I read this in my book today, which speaks to this effect:

In the visual aesthetic domain, Skov and colleagues showed that activity in the mOFC [medial Orbito-Frontal Cortex, which registeres how "valuable" a thing is] in response to viewing artworks depended on beliefs about whether the painting was taken from an exhibition in a museum or was created by the experimenter on his computer (Kirk et al., 2009).
