The latest Tucker Carlson thing: Cattle Mutilation conspiracy theories. I know FOX is shit, but this seems like ... getting shitter somehow.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/bearde...trial-activity

One of the first "mysterious" examples is of a dead bull with its genitals and tongue missing. Very "mysterious" until you consider scavenger animals who can't break the tougher skin of a bull targeting the exposed soft parts.

Apparently, Tucker Carlson's latest focus of fascination is the "end of men". And, from the trailer, it's rather obvious which bits in particular.

Uhuh, from that I just found out that Tucker is promoting some snake oil "testicle tanning" machine that unprovably is going to raise your testosterone level.

As for the crash in testosterone levels that Tucker gives his ever-puzzled face about:

    https://www.politicususa.com/2022/04...tosterone.html

Science also suggests some potential causes that Tucker Carlson most definitely won’t be talking about in his documentary. Smoking raises testosterone levels in men. People smoke less today than they did in the 1980s.

The second cause of lowered testosterone levels is obesity. Since Fox News viewers, like the rest of the country, are part of the obesity crisis, it is a pretty safe bet that Carlson won’t be telling his viewers to get off of the couch, stop watching his show and go exercise.

The last suspect for declining male testosterone in America is pollution. If Carlson and his viewers wanted to boost their testosterone, they could support the Green New Deal.
Also keep in mind that smoking is an appetite suppressant. So people stopped smoking and started eating more. Both things which lower average testosterone levels.

I'm actually interested in Tucker's documentary, I bet none of the things listed above get a mention. Willing to take bets that he has a whole section on soy-eaters and nothing on smoking.

EDIT: Also in news: Alex Jones' Infowars files bankruptcy to avoid paying out the Sandy Hook lawsuit. Says Infowars is broke, can't pay.

Also: Jones quietly siphoned off $72 million out of the company in the last three years: $18 million paid directly to himself and another $54 million into shell companies controlled by Jones and family members.

    https://abovethelaw.com/2022/04/alex...fowars-studio/

Seriously, I hope they end up taking the Infowars brand off him as well as his millions.

Macron's presidency has been spent dismantling social protections, extending the retirement age (and planning to do it again), mutilating protesters with grenades, keeping indicted ministers in charge, destroying education and health services by integrating the private sector into them, eliminating taxes for the rich, spending countless millions in public money hiring private consulting firms who then don't pay taxes because they're based abroad, because the administration fired or didn't renew the public servants who traditionally took care of it... His and his ministers' disdain for the lower class and even the middle class (or what's left of it) is evident every time they talks to or about them. He's a president of the 0.1% who doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about the general population. And so that population is rightly fed up with his shit.

And still, between him and the other one, five more years of this crap would be the lesser evil of the two. It just sucks.

More on Ron DeSantis' war on Disney over the "don't say gay" bill.

    https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/04/21/...dissolved.html

A repeal of Disney's self-government status in Florida could leave local taxpayers with more than $1 billion in bond debt, according to tax officials and legislators.

The Florida House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill that would dissolve Disney's special improvement district, escalating Gov. Ron DeSantis' attack on the company over its opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill, dubbed by critics the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

The state Senate passed the bill Wednesday, after it was first introduced Tuesday. It will now go to the governor for his signature.
    ...

To fund the government services of Reedy Creek, Disney effectively taxes itself. While the precise tax flows of Reedy Creek are unclear, Scott Randolph, the tax collector for Orange County, said the Reedy Creek district collects roughly $105 million annually in general revenue.

On top of the $105 million, Disney also pays local property taxes. Public records show Disney is the largest taxpayer in central Florida, paying over $280 million in property taxes to the counties between 2015 and 2020.

If the special district is dissolved, Orange and Osceola counties would have to provide the local services currently provided by Reedy Creek. And, the $105 million in revenue would disappear, meaning county and local taxpayers would be on the hook for part or all of the added costs.

"If you dissolved Reedy Creek, that $105 million in revenue literally goes away, it doesn't get transferred," Randolph said.

The reason: Reedy Creek is what's known as an "independent tax district" meaning the tax revenues it generates are in addition to its local tax obligations, rather than a replacement of them. If the district is eliminated, the tax payments to Orange and Osceola counties would not increase, Randolph said.
So if they abolish Disney's self-governance status, they'll effectively be forced to subsidize Disney for $100 million worth of services that currently Disney provides for itself. Republicans are claiming they'll still get the money, but that's a dubious claim.

But legislators and tax experts warn the bill creates an even larger potential problem for taxpayers in the form of bonds totaling more than $1 billion.

Reedy Creek has bond liabilities of between $1 billion and $1.7 billion, according to the district's financial filings. Under Florida statute, if Reedy Creek is dissolved, those liabilities are transferred to the local governments — either Bay Lake or Lake Buena Vista, or more likely, Orange and Osceola counties.
Just hilarious. Good work Florida Man.

    ---

Also on the crazy train related to that, Fox News now claims Disney is a "far left" corporation, and Republicans are spreading Disney = communist memes. Tweeted by an AZ state legislator, and even watermarked with his campaign logo:

Champion Of Trump's Wall Pleads Guilty To Fraud, Faces Years In Prison

Brian Kolfage, the founder of a viral campaign to pay for Donald Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, admitted to federal prosecutors Thursday that he pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars donors gave to his cause.

Kolfage has agreed to serve 51 to 63 months in prison, return the more than $17 million he raised for his his “We Build the Wall” campaign, pay more than $140,000 in unpaid taxes and pay $20,000 to $200,000 in fines as part of a plea agreement over false income taxes he reported in 2019.

“I induced donors to opt to the new project in part through the misrepresentation that I would not profit from We Build the Wall or take a salary or compensation,” Kolfage read from a prepared statement in a virtual court appearance Thursday. “I knowingly and willingly conspired to receive money from the donations.”

The conservative activist and conspiracy theorist admitted to siphoning $350,000 away from donors ― spending it on a boat, luxury vehicles, jewelry and plastic surgery ― despite promises he made not to take a cut of the funds or take any salary for his fundraising job.

“I knew what I was doing was wrong and a crime,” said Kolfage, who once insisted when the charges, filed shortly before the 2020 presidential election, were entirely “politically motivated, considering the timing of it.”

Judge Analisa Torres of the Southern District of New York has not yet accepted the plea. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 6.

Kolfage was arrested in the summer of 2020 alongside former Trump adviser Steve Bannon and two other men involved in the scheme. While Trump pardoned Bannon of any charges in the final moments of his presidency, he did not do the same for Kolfage and the other defendants.

One of them, Andrew Badolato, also pleaded guilty to wire fraud Thursday and faces more than four years in prison. The other, Timothy Shea, has pleaded not guilty.

Not really the same gravitas, but Mike Tyson was on a plane and some young white guys were ribbing him, harassing him.

He let it slide for a while but then one of them apparntly pegged a bottle of water at his head, and he turned around and just started punching the guy in the face.

Being smacked in the face by Mike Tyson definitely took the cheeky grin off the guy's face.

Romana Didilu, self-proclaimed Queen of Canada has decreed that her followers don't need to pay their utility bills and to go and cancel automatic bill payment arrangements in their online banking.

The cognitive dissonance is strong, Canadian followers telling their electricity companies that they don't have to pay their electricity bills because Queen Romana said all electricity is free now and being confused when the electricity company sends a reply to them calling it a scam.

One of them got a letter back from the lawyers for the electric company trying to tell them they were victims of an OPCA: "Organized pseudolegal commercial argument", which seems to be Canadian legaleese for "sovereign citizten bullshit", as verified here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudolaw

Canadian legal scholar Donald J. Netolitzky defined pseudolaw as "a collection of legal-sounding but false rules that purport to be law" [...] The term Organized Pseudolegal Commercial Arguments (OPCA) was coined in a 2012 Canadian court decision to reference pseudolegal tactics and arguments
And there were phone calls. Imagine you're working for the electric company and someone calls you up and tries to explain how Queen Romana had decreed all electricity is free and that you don't need to pay your bill, and to stop sending the bills or there will be trouble and the Queen would have them executed.

One of the companies also had some fun with a text response to one user: "All Hail Queen Romana! but just in case her decree falls short, we have some very competitive pricing plans".

Right now the Queen Romana stuff is entertaining and seems fairly harmless, but we've seen how that stuff can flip around really quickly, so should we be alarmed for Canada here?

Dr Oz on video at a recent pro-Trump rally.

He claims he beat Big Ag because they "were spraying stuff that could hurt our kids". Like, they were, but not any more because ... Trump I guess.

He also claims he beat Big Tech, because they were selling children online "and it was legal" but "we changed that".

    https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216668325

So like, WTF, not even on the same plane of reality here.

It was legal to sell children online but "we" changed that? how and when?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the whole idea that Trump fought against chemicals sprayed on crops because he loved the children so much:

    https://www.nrdc.org/trump-watch/tru...-federal-court

Trump approves herbicide banned by federal court

The Trump administration has again approved the use of the weed killer dicamba, skirting a federal judge’s concerns that the chemical threatens other crops and endangered species and that it could be carcinogenic.
Yeah, if anything the Trump administration solved the problem of toxic chemicals sprayed on crops by simply re-defining the word "toxic".

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...n-damage-trump

Trump administration won't ban pesticide tied to childhood brain damage

Evironmental Protection Agency rejects proposed ban on chlorpyrifos, despite growing evidence of its toxicity

Real blood on the floor with crypto-currencies at the moment.

hardest hit has been Binance chief executive Changpeng Zhao, who debuted in the index in January with a net worth of $US96 billion. By Wednesday, that was estimated to be just $US11.6 billion, an eye-watering fall of $US84.4 billion.
Surprisingly, Bitcoin is holding up, so what's happening is people are retreating from altcoins (too many and the market is over saturated), and Bitcoin is being partly propped up by that.

    Stablecoins collapse
    ...
Luna Foundation Guard, which backs terra, said on Monday it had deployed the equivalent of $US1.5 billion in cryptocurrencies to stabilise the coin.
    https://www.coinbase.com/price/terra-luna

To give you an idea, a week ago TERRA was trading around $80. it's now trading about 1.5 cents. Even when the article came out, which was 7 hours ago the price was 50 cents.

The billions spent trying to prop up a pegged currency really do smack of the Bank of England fiasco in 1992.

    ---

One that I've been watching is Sand, aka Sandbox*, because a friend of mine got suckered into buying $1000 worth of it believing it would shoot "to the moon". I told him to sell everything when it spiked but he didn't listen to me. It hit $8 last year, and has been gradually falling ever since. The latest market shocks have hit it hard.

    * What Sandbox is, other than the coin, is they're selling NFTs which are land in a Minecraft-like game. The idea is that "everyone will want to play it" at some unspecified time in the future, so you better stake your land soon! Then you can build an amusement park basically, and charge SAND for people to play games on your land. Nevermind that you can make Minecraft worlds for free, that are infinitely larger than the tiny chunks of land in the Sandbox.

Sandbox is a failed Minecraft/Roblox wannabe game that's been around since 2012, and they jumped on the NFT bandwagon to try and boost interest. And my mate got suckered into it thinking it's the "future of gaming" because he apparently thinks it's "ThE MeTaVeRse". i have tried to explain to him that there's no such singular such thing as "the Metaverse" and it's certainly NOT made by the Sandbox company.

Update: TERRA is now worth $0.000055, and continuing to fall every time i refresh the page.

It's dropped in value by another factor of 272 just since when I posted. Since the peak on May 5th, it's dropped by a factor of 1.5 *million*. I didn't believe it so it re-checked my math a couple of times. It seemed unbelievable that anything could drop by a factor of a million in a few days.

EDIT: something fishy is going on with this coin.

Right now the total TERRA coins in circulation is 6.5 trillion. Earlier today (May 13th), it was only 85 billion (archive.org). As of May 9th that was only 343 million. 99.86% of the total available coins were only created *today*, and of the remainder, 99.59% of *those* were created in the last 4 days.

What appears to be happening is that the company that runs TERRA is now minting vast amounts of their own coin and dumping them onto the market as an emergency measure to save their company. So even though they might look like a bargain and it might look like the price has to stop falling at SOME point, that's not the case.

This is not a Bank of England scenario, it's now a Zimbabwe scenario.

So much for the promise of a "stable coin".

That's still a glacial pace compared to how fast the value of Zimbabwe's currency fell in 2008 when Mugabe started his redistribution program or whatever triggered it.

You're not taking compound interest into account.

    79,600,000,000% = times 796,000,000, per month.

The daily average rate of increase would be (796,000,000)^(1/30) = 1.98

So that percentage you indicated is very close to a daily doubling of prices.

    https://www.coinbase.com/price/terra-luna

However, this coin was $82.58 a week ago and about $0.000050 today. That's a decrease by a factor of 1,651,600 in 7 days. The daily average decrease in value = 7.73 time.

Or, 1,651,600^4 would be a monthly averaged rate of about 744,079,769,464,015,360,000,000,000%

However, looking at just the last 24 hours, the price fell from $2.20 to $0.000031. That's a daily decrease of 7 million percent. Zimbabwe dollars had high inflation, but there was no point at which the value dropped by 7 million percent in a day.

Okay, okay. And here I thought I posted the biggest number in our forum today. Well I didn't actually write the number, but the napkin math I mentioned in my parallel worlds post would work out to 10^156 potential parallel worlds since the Big Bang, a 1 followed by 156 zeros. But it seems you have me beat. XD

Edit: Oh no wait, that's just for one person, and there's a lot more than one person in the universe! Well my brain has already left the building, so I'll leave it at that...

Edit 2: You edited out your bigger number, so this post doesn't really make sense anymore. But 'salright. Any maths is cool maths...

I edited out the yearly figure (10^326) because i wasn't sure it was economically coherent to project out spot-inflation to a whole year. I figured that was unfair, since they hadn't done that for Zimbabwe. However if both rates were calculated out to a year, Zimbabwe would be around 10^109 vs TERRA's 10^326.

However i haven't dared to do the one-day inflation of 7 million percent out to a year. That would have 1768 zeroes apparently XD.
