For me, they didn't even vanish/die. I used one flashbomb and several Holy Water arrows. One of the skulls dropped down in the stinky water and became inactive, many others seemed to become slower after being watered. When I approached them again from the point where I entered the large room with the skulls and other nasties inside, the dazed (?) skulls became fully active again and nearly killed me. The stinky water which had to be entered in order to proceed further damaged Garrett. Then the skulls inside the central building finished their brethrens' task, and after several load-and-die sessions, I gave the mission up.

I liked the well-done city part, where lots of optional routes or tasks (at least on easiest difficulty level) were present, as well as interesting-looking locations, but the end was not possible for me any more, since all healing potions were used up, and the food Garrett swallowed had only a small effect on his health (but maybe a notable one on his belly).

I just hacked them with my sword, they go down quite easily (at least on hard difficulty). Don't know if they respawn, I didn't hang around long to find out

Being low on health, I could not take this approach, especially not with about six of them in a rather small area.

Getting into the central tower is difficult, because the flying skulls will follow you round to where you need to do the business with the candles and get a rope arrow into the platform above. And I think they respawn, so fighting them is pointless. But once inside the upside down building the flying skulls are fairly easy to deal with: once you have established their patrol routes you can follow them and take them out from behind with a sword, and they don't come back. I'm not sure why you think you had to enter the toxic water - it isn't necessary to proceed.

Excellent expansive mission - another cracker from nicked ! Loads of exploring and thieves highway action with lots of nice detail. Finished 700 or so short on loot with the same 6/8 secrets as mentioned before. Found a lever under the bell in the clocktower hoping it was a secret but seems not - not sure it does anything. Wonder where those last two are?

Couldn't get the stone key for ages as Crastor or Fagan got spooked and ran off with the room key. Eventually caught up with him in town (now deceased - courtesy of the theatre entrance guards I assume ). Fun to mooch around town at the end for a while with the new intake before taking my exit at Tybalt's - sadly didn't bump into the active bot or the mechanist that was reported though .

I did not notice any place where I could use a rope arrow. Maybe that's where I thought I had to enter the water; I dived through it to get through an opening in the bottom of the building in the center. Recognizing any patrol routes inside was not possible because once I saw the skulls there, Garrett was dead within one second. And since the skulls outside apparently were completely invincible, why should I think of attacking what appeared to be the same enemy inside?

The skulls seem to track noise, but they were both slow and uninterested in following me.

The best way to do that section is to first do the southern one (closest to where you enter), then the eastern one, then the western one and finally the northern one. Do it right (and quickly enough) and only the southern portal will be active for most of the time, and they are unlikely to notice you. By the time the northern portal starts up, you should be half-way to the center building.

Once inside you're only dealing with a finite number of skulls. Keep your ears open and use the environment to sneak up behind them and crush them with a charged sword strike. You could also just try dodging them, but that won't really work once you try getting through the long corridor.

Curious that people seem to be missing the same two secrets - makes me feel like having a stroll around town at the endgame.

Just finished this awesome monster of a mission: expert, missing 1 secret and 260 loot. Absolutely loved the exploration freedom and the infinite nooks and crannies, the general sense of creepiness throughout the mission was fantastic!

Many thanks for a few hours of serious fun!

On the outside part, you can just run past the skulls like the zombies in Bonehoard. Inside the building you can sneak past them, although the "top" story is tough since it has multiple skulls.

I could not just run past the skulls on the outside. I was immediately in crossfire from six to eight skulls as soon as I reached the outskirts of their group. They blocked the only way I know towards the center of the area.

I wonder if the various problems with other AI's (such as a woman walking before a fireplace, but while hovering about one meter in the air - which she still did after being knocked out by me...) are somehow connected to the skulls acting completely difficult than the ones from the tales here. I have seen such odd AI behaviour since one or two years every now and then, so this might be a problem with either my installation (although I restored some kind of backup multiple times) or maybe some changes in NewDark.

The woman being stuck in mid-air is just the Dark Engine being the Dark Engine. Such issues will almost inevitably crop up as the complexity of the mission increases.

Yeah a few AI have a tendency to get stuck in the ceiling. Dark Engine be Dark Engine. There's nothing particularly unusual about the skulls' setup. They are basically just reskinned Fire Elementals. They do respawn continuously in the cavern, but there's a limit to the number that can be active at once; there's no danger of it significantly affecting performance. If a lot of them get alerted to your presence in the cavern, it will be pretty difficult. Stealth is of course the optimal strategy here.

I had to flee the skulls, and thus ended up on the ramp by which one reaches the place. Six or more of the skulls circled the T-intersection between me and the building in the center, so stealth was not an option anymore. I had to pass right through them.

Well, I'm done with this anyway.

Has anyone found a use for the Zawa skull? It's revealed by secret #2 in post #44. It clicks when you use lockpicks on it, but I haven't found anything else that it interacts with.

It's just an easter egg. No functionality.

maybe I missed something, but is there a reason to go in there at all?

this mission was a ton of fun, I'm a big fan of inverted architecture and floating islands, so this scratched one particular itch for me; I need to go back and explore, since it sounds like a lot of things happen after the main objectives are completed! (and I have a bunch of secrets to find)

    nicked, this was absolutely fantastic.

I obviously missed a little loot and one secret on expert. I think most of which was because I was spooked out in the "crystal area' lol

You packed everything I love about Thief into this one, and don't think any can argue its one of the best.

How I managed to finish without knockouts or kills and no hints

    Thanks for 4hrs of fun.

Try the following link: https://www.ttlg.de/index.php?fm-detail&id=1339 There's a line saying "Dateien: LegacyOfKnoss_v10.zip" at the bottom. Click on "LegacyOfKnoss" to start downloading.

It's from the german TTLG.DE site, but near the end of a month, a traffic limit may be reached, and the site will then not allow downloads until the next month has begun. So, don't wait until the end of November.

I finished all of the objectives except for the last three (on Expert), and when I returned to Tybald's shop the objective did not complete.

Edit: It finally completed once Carmella calmed down.

I'm having trouble finding the sewers where the hideout is. I'm been in what I think are the sewers where some spiders are with water canals in the middle separated by wood planks. Where are those two guys in the objective?

I have just updated the download link to point to patched version 1.1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qBQ...usp=share_link

    Version 1.1 Changes:

    - Fixed a bug where the "Don't kill anyone" objective could fail near the mission end.
    - Fixed the placement of a piece of loot.
    - Fixed a piece of loot that could never be frobbed, meaning the total loot count was wrong.
