Vote for your favourite Thief 2 fanmission of the year 2003!![]()
"Others" includes the following missions: Amnesia, A Mission with No Name, Debt to Nate, Friend Basso, Island of Iron (Part 1): Fortress of Steel, Island of Iron (Part 2): Confrontation, Lord Fishkill's Curse, Lord Maguire Estates, Mad as a Hatter, Mixed Messages, Secret Weapon, The Bar, The Curiosity Shop, Too Good to be True
General rules for the T2 polls: Demos, very short missions, foreign languages and OM remakes are only included if the space allows it. Same goes for missions that already appeared in one of the T1/TG polls. Big missions with 5 or more missions to play are excluded. There will be a separate poll for them.
Important note: Since there is quite a number of T2 fanmissions released in the year 2003, I cut the poll in 2. The second poll will be released when this one is closed.
Some real jewels were created in the year 2003, this shall get interesting!![]()

In every of my polls (except itīs a one-choice only poll on purpose like for the poll "best T1/TG mission of all time") and in case I donīt forget it again (already happened once!), you can always vote for as man missions as you want
Edit: I canīt believe that emilie victor has no vote yet!![]()
You can't have Emile Victor, Ominous Bequest and Rowena's Curse all in the same poll.
And I really think Lord Fishkill's Curse should have been in the main section, after all it was partly a tribute mission to our most famous community member ever, no less than His Right Honourable, The High Lord of Discworld, bless his cotton socks Sir Terry Pratchett. RIP.
For me it's Ominous Bequest here. I haven't played Rowena's or Emilie, but I imagine those to be contenders for sure.
There's a lot of classic missions in this list. Rowena's Curse and Ominous Bequest are behemoths that have left a permanent imprint and have shaped the FM scene for years while Gathering at the Inn was the start of something incredible. Personally though, my favorite in this list is The Shipment because, while it does not have the lasting impact on the FMs mentioned above and doesn't try anything too ambitious, I think it is the most polished of them all and offers a very compelling classic Thief 2 experience.
lord matt as it was one of the first missions i played by bbb and it was life changing
bbb is so missed and will never be forgotten
Itīs true, all three of them are amazing, I canīt even decide between them!![]()
And are you serious or was that meant as a joke?If you were serious, Iīm sorry, itīs rather hard to decide which missions should go into others and which not since there are so many of them :x
I agree, the shipment is such a gorgeous mission aswell, rodamill (the continuation of it) is even more gorgeous imo.Personally though, my favorite in this list is The Shipment because, while it does not have the lasting impact on the FMs mentioned above and doesn't try anything too ambitious, I think it is the most polished of them all and offers a very compelling classic Thief 2 experience.
Yes I knew that, I was suggesting Terry Pratchett was a member of the wider Thief community, at the end of the day doesn’t matter which forum you post on we’re all taffers at heart.
He used to post on alt.games, a usernet site that died years ago.

Beyond question, Ominous Bequest is my #1 in this poll.![]()
I'm amazed nobody picked A Thief's holiday yet, besides me. I play it every year around christmas. The victrola, the tree, the snowballs, the hidden stuff in different locations on each difficulty. Heh, it's the only Thief FM and only computer game I managed to get my girlfriend to play.
Lot of good memories and very Xmas like atmosphere.
I'm surprised The Burrick's Head Inn doesn't have any votes. It won the largest contest the community has ever seen. I haven't played it though, so I can't comment on the quality.
For me the burricks head inn is a great mission and it will definitely get my vote once i played through the poll missions. I just think that many don't vote for it because it's just not in the same league as rowena's curse, ominous bequest and emilie victor.
Burrick's Head Inn is a fantastic little mission and my excuse is simply that I overlooked it.
I would've voted for it as it doesn't really matter if one votes for five or six missions...
I voted for 7 missions in total included the burrickīs head inn. I also liked Skull of St. Yora and The Bluecoats Training Facility, but didnīt vote for them as they werenīt as good as the others for me.
In 2003 a load of great fanmissions got out![]()
Honestly, and I know the polls here aren't set up this way, but a multiple-choice poll works better when you can "weight" your choices. Say you're given 10 points to vote with, you can then distribute them with your favorite getting more than one that you don't think is as good.
Oh well, we have to use what we got. Unless you want to start doing that in the future, then everyone would have to change it up a little and put down which missions they're voting for ahead of time, and then put down the numbers they want to give them, and then someone (Samantha1) would have to tally the results. Just a thought.
I think the current way is sufficient for these purposes.
The purpose of the polls is to bring back good old missions to the memory of people and/or people finding jewels they never have played before because they simply missed them. The voting and outcome can help with deciding what you want to play, but they are not important (itīs just fun to get to vote). I for myself try to play as many missions as possible in the poll time, finding new (old) fanmissions I missed out and having suggestions for missions to play all the time![]()
You're absolutely right. Forgive me. I forget sometimes. It should be all about the fun. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm rediscovering a few myself. :-)
Iīm always glad to hear that, because then the polls serve their purposeI'm rediscovering a few myself. :-)![]()

I voted for four missions: Ominous Bequest, Rowena's Curse, A Keeper's Betrayal and The Shipment. If I had to choose only one mission it would be Ominous Bequest. I played it about year ago and it really felt something special and looked surprisingly good for such an old FM. From what I can remember Rowena's Curse is very close to Ominous Bequest's level. Both of these FMs have very eventful gameplay and story.
I replayed A Keeper's Betrayal yesterday and it's a very nice FM too. I think it really shines in the later parts where the plot thickens and the tension increases - many interesting readables that shed light on the events. I finished The Shipment a couple of days ago. It's a very solid mission that has a good story and gameplay is definitely its strongest point.
And the winners are:
1. Ominous Bequest
2. Rowena's Curse
3. Emilie Victor
Congratulations!
Next poll will start tomorrow.
Quite clear numbers there, I'd say. Some strong missions in this one though.
Now I guess I need to play Ominous Bequest again. I don't remember much at all about it, just that it was pretty amazing. But I don't recall any details.
Thanks for these, it has really brought back some memories.
{edit: now I remember.. frying pan}![]()

I agree, 2003 was a very strong yearQuite clear numbers there, I'd say. Some strong missions in this one though.
Ominous Bequest is amazing, but even better I think is itīs sequel: Ultima ratio. So if you replay ominous bequest, I recommend to you to replay ultima ratio aswellNow I guess I need to play Ominous Bequest again. I don't remember much at all about it, just that it was pretty amazing. But I don't recall any details.![]()
