Which version of the game do you have? Steam, GoG, disc?
just a few hours ago, I ran into issues with T2Fix! so I had to uninstall and reinstall to get things working! when I went to open the program again, all the FMs were rezipped and all my saves were gone! even my configs were reset! how do I fix this?! Please help me!![]()
Which version of the game do you have? Steam, GoG, disc?
You've checked in your Steam folder, under..
{path where you installed the game}\saves
I'm not sure 100% how exactly T2Fix works in the install/uninstall parts, but I don't think it's supposed to mess with your saves at all. Unless something has changed, they should be in there.
Had you started using a loader like AngelLoader yet? Or was it just the Thief 2 installation, followed by T2Fix?
No. no AngelLoader. Just Thief 2 and T2fix
Did you check that directory? Is it empty?
I've been using AngelLoader exclusively, so my saves are stored somewhere else apparently, but I do have the keybinds in my SAVES folder that I created back when I installed T2 and T2Fix.
Did you make all those saves playing before you added the T2Fix patch? If so, they may just be incompatible and thus "lost", unless you revert back to vanilla T2. Otherwise, I'm not sure..
Are all the saves from one timeframe in the game? I'm assuming you're playing the OMs (original missions) and not a fan mission?
If so, I'd suggest launching the game and getting back to that point in the game and then making a save..
That save should now be in the proper place and recognized by the game and note the name of the file, exit the game and close everything out..
Then, move or just rename that GOOD save to something else and then copy over the save you want to restore to that directory, and rename it the exact same name.
See what I'm saying? You're just wanting to the trick the game / loader into thinking this is the same good save from before, except it should have all your progress from before.
As for configs and keybinds and things like that, you may be out of luck. You can try to tell from the extensions if any were backed up (they usually have a .bak extension). I'm thinking that's a long shot though.
Tried it. didn't work. And yes sadly there were some FMs as well.
Ughh...this is going nowhere fast.: it seems not much else can be done. I'll just have to start over I suppose.
OK I guess I'm done. thanks for your help anyway. this thread can be done now.
Sorry to hear that.
I just have no idea how all your saves got broken like that, but something must have changed in your installation to cause it. Wish there had been a better outcome.
