Vote for your favourite Thief 2 fanmission of the year 2005!
"Others" includes the following missions: A Bank Job, CZSK Council, Delford Abbey, Gearheart, Last Gleaming of the Rising Sun, The Cell Next Door, The City Square, The Good Samaritan
General rules for the T2 polls: Demos, very short missions, foreign languages and OM remakes are only included if the space allows it. Same goes for missions that already appeared in one of the T1/TG polls. Big missions with 5 or more missions to play are excluded. There will be a separate poll for them.
Important note: Since there is quite a number of T2 fanmissions released in the year 2004, I cut the poll in 2. The second poll will be released when this one is closed.

Seven Sisters was released Dec 2007 and updated Jan 2008. Thread, Thief Missions
Where did you get Oct 2005 from?
Fortuni is right. The seven sisters is included in the 2007 poll. Why would you think it was released in 2005..
My vote goes for "A Night in Rocksbourg: Part 1". Many people dislike the confusing keyhunt aspects of this level, but I think it's a small masterpiece in terms of atmosphere, ambience, and design.
Thud, thud, thud, thud.... MEOOOOOOOOOW!!!
My vote goes to Rocksbourg 1 as well, but there are a lot of good missions in this poll. The Den and Greyfather Gems 2 especially. We're getting into the years where the average quality of FMs really started to rise. Exciting!
i voted for healing fruit on the "rocksbourg" :P

FMSel is reading the datestamp from the wrong file, to wit, copyright.txt (which is a copyright notice for tnhScript), dated March 10, 2005. The actual readme would be The7SistersV2.rtf, dated January 11, 2008.
Accurate release date detection is notoriously difficult. If you get it from the readme date stamp, you might get the wrong readme. If you get it from a .mis file, it might well have last been modified earlier than the FM's release date. If you try to parse it from the readme text, you're in for a world of pain with disambiguating dates and recognizing a million different ways and places of writing them (AngelLoader does this, among other things).
But even AngelLoader doesn't get this one right, it reads "11/1/2008" from the readme and concludes November 1, 2008 rather than January 11, 2008 (I'm going to fix that one). Still, it's always "best effort", and different loaders may decide to expend more or less effort on their guesses, and probably none will be right 100% of the time...

On topic:
Rocksbourg 1 may have some rough edges, but its oppressive atmosphere is like no other. The ambience, the backstory, the visual look (which would be expanded even more in the sequels), the general goings-on in the city of Rocksbourg combine to make a flavor of darkness that's totally unique to the series.
Rodamill is also a fantastically atmospheric horror mission, an abandoned town that sadly never got a sequel (though it was set up for one) and shouldn't be overshadowed.
Gosh, what a great year for Thief II FMs. This is just Part 1, and there are several all-time classics in here.
It may not get mentioned as often as a couple of the others, but if you haven't played it, don't sleep on Saints and Thieves.![]()
Even going by read me files is not always accurate, authors often write the read me files weeks, even months before the true date of release, forgetting to amend the read me date.
There was one contest which extended the build time by a couple of months so most of those contest missions read me files showed a release date of Nov, but the actual release date was Jan the following year. The only way to be truly accurate is to check the date of the original thread.
The Den
Disappointed in how little love Saints and Thieves is getting. Then again, I've always said it's the most underappreciated FM of all time.
And for anyone who needs convincing: watch marbleman's excellent narrated walkthrough![]()
Rocksbourg is obviously the most influential in this list, but my heart sways more towards Rodamill, Saints and Thieves, Thieves' Highway and The Den.
I remember that I loved saints and thieves, but I barely remember it. So I´m definitely going to replay it now
There are indeed alot of jewels in this poll. In total I voted for 9 missions and I don´t think I have to say that included are rodamill, the den and the thieves highway! One mission greater than the other!![]()
Good mission! I think I must have played that mission at least 8 or more times. Then again, this particular poll is starting to show more missions getting their share of the votes. Perhaps the divide is because this is when we started getting spoiled with a higher percentage of quality missions?...
Yes, quality missions like yours uncadonego! The Thieves highway is one of my favourite missions of all time!![]()
I've played Making a Profit 3 times back to back. It stinks that I can either play FMs or Dromed.. seems I can't do both.![]()
The Den, Rodamill and Rocksbourg are amazing and I've played them before but I discovered Turn of the Tide to be a very good mission, a hidden gem. Also, for anyone who likes warehouses you might like A Dire Venture, a solid warehouse mission.
Wow... Just looked at the results of this poll. Rocksbourg was from 2005????
That does not feel like it was that long ago. Holy moly am I getting old. Poll closed, but my vote goes to Rocksbourg.
And the winners are:
1. A Night in Rocksbourg: Part 1
2. The Greyfeather Gems Part 2: Rodamill
3. The Den (L'Arsene series: Part 4)
All four parts of The L´Arsene series were poll winners in the first three places. It shows what a great mission author Gaetane is![]()
Congratulations to the well-deserved winners!![]()
Next poll will start tomorrow.
Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to Samantha! I love these threads, because they stimulate the community so much. Will there be a voting for the best mission of all time, including Thief 1 and Thief 2?
