It's always amusing to me how Europeans refer to cheat utilities as "trainers", like that fools anyone.
First, I would like to point out that I am running Linux. The game itself runs fine on Linux via Proton. But if I want to run the trainer, it will not work unless I run Windows. But I refuse to run Windows today as my daily driver as it's ad serving and spyware trash; namely with the stock image from MS.
The only way I run Windows (and make it remotely bearable) right now is in a VM with GPU pass through on top of Linux. And I use a custom image of Windows with all the crap removed. Finally, for extra measure, I keep the VM totally offline so that MS has no hope in contaminating my clean VM with their crap updates. But I am wanting to remove what little reliance I have left for Windows now. Because Windows is garbage today.
So, I am wondering if there is a way to have invincibility with unlimited items in Thief Deadly Shadows without the use of that the trainer so that I can just play the game by running WINE on Linux. Because the game itself runs just fine with Proton. Is there alternatives to the trainer in terms of what I am looking for?

Heya, there is a DEFAULT.INI file in the System folder of the TDS directory where you can modify the damage you take. See instructions here.
Not sure about items I'm afraid but there might be some setting that can help in there.
Tested this changing normal mode damage (Difficulty_AIVisual_Mult_Normal) to 0.0 and it worked for me.
Note: I had a lockpicking bug that prevented me testing this so I had to install the Thief 3 Sneaky Upgrade. I mention this only for completeness, I don't think it will affect the above.
An easy way to become almost invincible is via the SneakyUpgrade tweaks you can adjust your difficulty factor to 0 making you invisible to AI's
I don't know of any cheats to give you unlimited weapons unless you access the game editor where there are a number of cheats available
FLY
GHOST
GOD PLAYER ON/OFF
ALL WEAPONS
ENABLE ALL UPGADES
ENABLE CLIMBING
ENABLE LOCKPICKING
ENABLE BLACKJACK UPGRADE
ENABLE KEEPER UPGRADE
ENABLE PAGAN UPGRADE
ENBLE HAMMER UPGRADE
ALL AI'S BLIND
ALL AI'S DEAF
ALL AI'S DEAF, DUMB, BLIND
+ various other editing options
I only know how to access the T3 Editor by using a basic program called Loothunter, which was put together by Snobel to help me track down all the loot, keys and available arrows when I was writing the walkthroughs, however playing via Loothunter is not a particularly great way to play the game and it's a pain to use. As to whether you can access the T3 Editor and then make your preferred alterations to your T3 game without playing via Loothunter you would have to ask Snobel.
If you want to check out Loothunter there was a thread by Pat1991 in which I explained from old notes how to use the program.

The latest Sneaky Upgrade beta gives you more fine-grained control - you can change the value of each of those Default.ini settings individually.
You can use the editor to edit the gamesys but you're in for a bit of a journey... It doesn't come with the SU but there's a video showing how to install it.
You might get some inspiration from this thread, where someone wanted to change purchase prices.
I got the Default.ini from a download. That works fine when getting attacked by AIs. Too bad I can't be immune losing health to fire places. Because I like to light the entire Stone Market Proper on fire with oil flasks and have the AIs slip in pools of oil and fall down stairs (when things go crazy with Gamall going on the hunt for Garret as he places the talismans in each part of the city).
But I guess I could use the virtual machine with the trainer for that. Though, I really want to get rid of Windows entirely because it's ad serving trash today. The trainer is the only reason I run Windows in a VM with GPU pass through. lol
Mainly, it's just the unlimited items and ammo I can't get working. I can change the number of items and ammo I have with a program called Game Conqueror on Linux where I can edit memory addresses just like with Cheat Engine. But if I go to another level, or some other part of the city, the values reset and I have to do it over again. And that's because the ID of executable changes each time I move to a different area; and so the memory addresses change too.
Sort of defeats the object of playing the game if you need to cheat.
I don't care. I like to light the entire Stone Market Proper on fire with oil flasks and have the AIs slip in pools of oil and fall down stairs (when things go crazy with Gamall going on the hunt for Garret as he places the talismans in each part of the city).
In well implemented games, I'd agree, but TDS's systems are so clumsily implemented that they're entirely unreliable. I mod the difficulty down here because the alternative is hours of frustration waiting for the game to reload after some bullshit thing just decided not to work. It's either this or just never revisiting it.
Eh... I am not playing it anymore really (I played it so much; even without cheats). So, I'll just keep it in the isolated Windows VM with GPU pass through. Besides, I think I'll revisit Thief Gold and then Thief Metal Age later. For now, I am going to be exploring other games.
