    Ghosting

    Hello,
How do you handle the question of ghosting? I notice that ghosting (= no blackjacking or killing) is more interesting and fun for me, because blackjacking everyone is mostly easy and after that it suffices to run around. But when I try to ghost, I feel like I am wasting my time because I am inpatient, therefore I usually dont ghost, but I like forced ghosting or enemies who cannot be blackjacked, for example ghosts or mechanical guards. So basically, I have more fun ghosting, but I dont have enough discipline and patience to do it. Does anybody else know this dilemma and how do you handle it?

ghosting in thief is nothing more then get to point A and save then get noticed reload game retry till you get to point B then save, repeat first step till you get to end of mission

This is the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. Your argument has nothing to do with ghosting. I could make a similar argument about Thief in general:

Thief is nothing more than get to point A and save then die/fail, reload game retry till you get to point B then save, repeat first step till you get to end of mission.

Or I could take it even further:

Video games are nothing more than get to point A and save then die/fail, reload game retry till you get to point B then save, repeat first step till you get to end of the mission.

@Candyblock: If you wanna have a proper discussion about this topic, we have an active ghosting community here, though we have been less active lately. Our main threads are:

Your main concern seems to be impatience: "I have more fun ghosting, but I don't have enough discipline and patience to do it." This statement seems a little bit like an oxymoron to me. It seems you think the added challenge of sneaking as opposed to blackjacking is more fun, but this will obviously mean you have to move slower through areas. And if you want to adhere to the other ghost rules, or let alone Supreme ghost rules, it will take even longer. I see myself as a fairly patient person, but I have also learned to take more pleasure in the process, not just the end result. I have quite a few Supreme ghosting videos on my YouTube channel. Feel free to check them out if you'd like.

And again, please ignore downwinder and his comment. I beg you.

I haven't played Thief in a while, but when I did, I used to make up my own self-imposed rules, whatever seemed like it would be fun or just make it a bit more interesting to go through the levels the umpteenth time.

You could, for example, play so that you can blackjack any one guard, but only one in the entire mission. Or maybe blackjack every other guard you meet (first guard ghosted, second guard blackjacked, third guard ghosted etc), though some that walk around in groups might make this a bit tricky/finicky, so maybe some kind of additional rule would be needed for those.

There's no dilemma, you just have stunted executive function, specifically inhibitory control.

    You should work on that.

I prefer ghosting to clobbering everything in sight too, but there's times when I'm sneaking by the same guard for the fourth time that I think "why am I doing this? This is boring". I think it's natural to feel that way sometimes about self-imposed challenges. For helmet guards and other blackjack-proof enemies the ghosting challenge is real and that's why it feels less boring to do.
