pwl: When you go down the round stairs to the wine cellar, the big barrels on the left side, take a close look on the last one.
Thank you I went by there at least ten times never saw the lever

Bikerdude,
Slight hint:
There's a guard's journal in the basement that provides a hint
A bit more:
2nd floor (using the U.S.A system of numbering floors)
Another bit more:
Look in the study
Even more:
Check the fireplace

Completed on expert with 500 short of total.
A nicely made mission that screams Gervasius! As an arachnophobe, I'm dreading the next mission.
I think I may have encountered a bug in this mission, there's a guard that keeps teleporting from a room into the corridor next to it.
I've captured a video to show it (link should be valid for 30 days): https://transfert.free.fr/3rkfSDZ
Using Thief Gold with TFix 1.26a

I think this is the most difficult mission I have ever played in Thief. My playstyle is not to knock out or hurt anybody and simply sneak past the enemies. This seems almost impossible here at first glance, almost everything is covered in marble and there are electric lights everywhere and not a single switch in sight to turn them off... but this is how you imagine the City's wealthiest crime lord's crib. I can not count how much time I spent sitting in the shadows which are few and far between, observing guard routes. Moss arrows and disruption bombs are a must for this mission. I liked the doggo walking around with the guard captain, even though he is not the best guard dog I've ever seen... he just went past me while I was crouching in a dark spot. The architecture is superb, guard placement is well thought out and you have multiple entry points to make things more interesting.
Thank you authors! This mission really put my skills to the test, I salute you.
Just finished this mission and it may be my favorite so far in the campaign. Beautiful architecture, lots of valuables, and good mix of objectives. The alarm system was a cool addition without being annoying, and one of the objectives reminded me of Ramirez with a twist. It was a pleasure throughout! 10/10
Hey I've got another weird issue with this mission: there's a tiled floor texture which seems to only have colors the first time I load the game during a play session. If I ever reload a save without completely exiting the game first, then it turns to (I guess, as I'm colorblind) grayscale: see screenshots at https://imgur.com/a/mSRbnyd
Now if I leave the game again and reload, the colors are back… as long as I don't reload again.
Not sure if it's a bug specific to the engine version, my graphics card/drivers or the texture file itself… so I'll provide as much info as I can, hoping it helps to diagnose the issue and, perhaps, to have it fixed in a future update.
- Game engine version is 1.26, using TFix 1.26a installed on top of Thief Gold (NOT downgraded to TDP)
- the issue happens on both my desktop PC (running Windows 10 v22H2, with AMD RX 580 graphics card, drivers version 31.0.21905.1001 / Adrenalin 23.11.1 ) and my laptop (running Windows 11 v22H2, AMD Radeon 780M Graphics, driver version 31.0.22017.3004 / Adrenalin 23.10.2 )
Edit: Just to check, I reinstalled Thief Gold on my laptop using the 1.26 package from GOG into a new folder, then "unzipped" TFix_Lite_NewDark_1.27_02jul2019.7z into that folder, made a new shortcut to run it with FMsel, and used the skip mission cheat to get back to this mission. Now I can't seem to ever get the colored tiles, even if I completely shutdown and reboot my PC, it's always grayscale.

This was a mistake on our end. Whoever imported these textures from the Shadow of Doubt campaign by Sperry simply left them as .gif files, rather than converting them to another format with a proper internal palette. This map has been tested since 2017 and somehow nobody had this issue!
A bit curious: what is the "intended" way to get the captain's key? I assume you're meant to use a gas arrow to take out him and the dog simultaneously, but I didn't shell out for one at loadout and ended up having to slam a door to separate the Captain from his dog, immediately arrow the dog to death, open the door, wait for the Captain's search cycle to complete, then pickpocket the key, which immediately put the Captain on alert since he had already been made suspicious once. He then would immediately run to set off the alarm, but luckily I could use his key to access the security room and deactivate it.
Suffice to say, a belabored solution. Wondering how others pulled it off.
i pulled it off his belt as he walked by, as for any pickpocketing. he didnt react, and the dog only made a small whine and paused for a moment before continuing. on the other hand, i hadnt seen the key on his belt nor twigged that he was the captain i was looking for for over two hours… until he chanced to walk very close to me and the key lit up.
Has anyone found a speed potion by any chance in this mission?
While I found the same solution as vfig, I also noticed that one can blackjack the dog. Perhaps it would be possible to wait until the captain resumes patrol (if he does) and snatch the key from his belt then. Another option would be to knock out the dog first, and then use a gas arrow for the captain alone, which should be easier to do than gassing both of them at once. I have not tried these tactics, though.
Is the title for this mission a Current 93 reference? I thought it might've been coincidence but then I also spotted Coil mentioned in the campaign credits. Love to see it.

Second floor, east of security office. I found that niche next between the door and desk to be reliably dark.
Also, one of the columns/pillars near the entry to the library on 2nd floor is suitable, at least if one leans forward while snatching the key.
Great mission, though similar to pwl, I walked right past the means to entering the torture chamber many, many times without realizing it.
Also loved the music room with that Actraiser Easter egg! It’s a stylistically fitting remix of:
