Glad you liked it and sorry the puzzle bugged out. It was always on my mind that it might cause problems again so I am going to get that new version up tonight and hopefully it doesn't break again.

Version 1.2 of this mission is now available (Google Drive link in OP is updated) with the following fixes/changes:

    - Statue heads are no longer frobbable and are now instead directly controlled by switches. This eliminates all bugs related to the statue head puzzle.
    - If for some reason the statue head puzzle still fails, there is an alternative entrance added to the Restricted Library - a very concealed switch in the Chapter House will open the floor panel from that side.

In the new 1.2 version I get a crash to desktop when reading the note on the drowned thief where the compound key is found - as soon as the "new objective" sound plays with the note on screen the game exits to desktop.
edit: before you ask - no mods enabled - newdark fresh install of tfix.

Hi lordhern, if I recall, I think you had the same crash issue at this point in the previous version of the mission too? I’ve not had any other reports of this from others so I’m not sure what might be causing it. Have you any kind of crash dump messages?

the priror build I can avoid that crash by being not "moving" in the water right after a quick load.

in 1.2 it crashes to destkop with nothing written to the crash dump file. the new objective sound seems to to "stutter" like it's being triggred multiple times.

when I was running the original version I was launching with fmsel - on this setup i'm launching with angelloader. - I will see if I can get some statistics on the weekend.

I did a quick test - I disable both "auto equip" and "goal notification". It allowed me to click through the readable and not get the garret quip about the keeprs trigger _until_ the readable is dismissed.

now that I have a hard save I'll be able to compare my play notes from before.

On Saturday i'll restore the VM of my old fmsel setup - I'll check that one for the auto equip and goal notification setup.

Ok thanks for that update. I use FMsel so not sure if it could be something crashing when running it through Angelloader. There are three or four new objectives triggered I think, each playing a sound.

Also if you are just playing 1.2 to see any gameplay differences, there is nothing material changed other than the statue heads, which are now controlled by switches. A briefing video was added in v1.1

ok all my testing is complete.

I can replicate the crash on systems with on-board audio. One of my older systems has an EAX compabitble card and vendor supplied driver that doesn't crash UNLESS the number of sound channels is lower than 24.

It looks like windows 11 sound driver DLL is locking a thread in the game engine.

The only fix I can say will work 100% of my test platforms is disable goal notification, disable auto-equip and make sure the sound channels is above 24. - btw this also solves a crash to desktop for other FM's that trigger goal notifications while reading a scroll/book.

Very pretty and very keeper training. The Welcome Home made me tear up because there is something about that bird amb hack and that sky that hits, and then that message. Thanks Snake!
