    Internal Server Error 500

    Today I have been experiencing an Internal Server Error 500 frequently, and sometimes when I try to edit a post the edit window is not loaded completely. I just wanted to let the admin aware of this.

    I'm getting the same error when trying to access certain pages under the 'MEGA-STICKY Thread' such as the walkthroughs/loot lists/etc.
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    500 - Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
    Try reloading the page. Worked for me.
    I also have frequent "500 - Internal Server error" messages since about 12 to 18 hours when reading the forums or posting. And here is yet another one. Something is amiss. Seems to be random in nature, since reloading a post usually works. Re-posting a post may lead to a message saying that it's a double post, and indeed, the (first) post was present already.
    I first noticed it late afternoon EDT yesterday/Sunday after using the 'Walkthroughs, Loot Lists, etc .. all in one place' thread a few times earlier in the day with no problems, and haven't been able to access it since in ~24 hours. It's a huge page that always takes a bit to load but always did and I never got the 500 server errors before.
    Today some regular much smaller pages have also produced it intermittently but then work with a quick reload, while most of the large MEGA-STICKY 'FM Listings' links produce the error for me every time. Definitely a server/host-side issue that hopefully the admins are aware of and trying to correct.
    My personal work-around to 5xx or latency issues on this site was to save the 'walkthroughs, etc' page as a local html file. All of those links (or most, at least) point to Google docs and never present a problem
    That's a good idea to load it faster. For now, at the top of the 500 server error page it offers to load the Wayback Machine archive from February of this year which I've been doing to get any needed links.
    Thanks for flagging this up - normally I get notifications for errors but these weren't being sent through. I'll need to do some further checks tomorrow but will get to the bottom of it.
    I'm getting this error on half the threads on the first page of the fan mission forum.
    Yes, realise it's very frustrating and something that I'm trying to get sorted as soon as possible.
    The main issue appears linked to consistently high numbers of connections over the last few days to a level that we haven't seen before for the duration of time. There are some measures that can be put in place on the form side but it's still causing server issues. I've reached out to Saam as he has particular access to functions and will update once I'm able to share any updates.
    Ok thank you for the update Al. Appreciate the hard work on this. Yes I'm sure it's frustrating.
    Any more updates on this? The errors still keep popping up.
    I get a consistent 500 error on the What are you playing? (2024 edition) thread in Gen Gaming, but other threads open more readily (ie. with inconsistent 500 errors).
    No fix yet, I'm afraid. I'm working with Saam still on what we can do to bring this to a close but we're still fundamentally having significantly higher traffic that seems to be the main cause.
    It's taken some doing but with Saam's assistance we've managed to get some sense out of the hosting company and fingers-crossed this should now largely be resolved. However, if you see any thread still doing the same thing then let me know and I'll dig into it - the ones above are certainly now working.
    One thing it's highlighted is that we do really need to transition away from our current platform. This means we're likely to have some more downtime in the near future but we'll make the necessary announcements when we're closer to doing that.
