Luckily, I had a hard save from the museum just before picking up the loot in the atrium.
Thanks for your observations. It is impossible to eliminate all possibilities, but I think that in your case it is not a softlock. When you returned the third chalice, you still had not gone through the maze and acquired the fruit. those gates won't open until you eat the fruit.
Perhaps I misunderstood you, and I will look into this more deeply. In any event, if you enjoyed the FM, that is all that really matters.

Sorry, I forgot to specify that I did go back and eat the fruit, only to return and find the doors locked before reloading from the hard save. It wasn't really a big deal, though.

on the island, erased my name, cannot find the third chalice and cannot find the fruit. in the courtyard, the opposite door does not open, the other one leads to lava area. This old thief is missing something obvious, but what?

Nice mission with interesting puzzles and tasks :-).
I was eager to find all the secrets and loot (thanks for all the hints here).
Currently I am still missing 15 Loot. I'm grateful for every tip.
    Special Thanks to the Author.

Needing a better hint for the Bank Records Area at the top.

Looking back at previous posts, I can see and read a scroll with directional numbers in the records area. I read that there is a clue down the bottom, but all I see is a stack of crates to be delivered to the manager, and a guard who gets triggered with a service bell button (you can lure him to a tram and zombie gib him! Who knew!?!)

You're in the wrong area You need to search carefully in the floor with desks and paintings

Still, so many possibilities. Two most likely possibilities are:
A small statue in the museum.
A plate in the pub plus a coin in a wet tunnel.
    Good luck.

Many thanks for the hint :-).
10 Loot I have found now (plate) LOL.

I have found two coins previously. In wet tunnel under bank and in House with open roof (in cellar)
Is there any other possibility with 5 loot ?

    Oh, that is sneaky

Anyway, finished with 6531 loot, 3/3 secrets and 5/8 pilfered.

Some rather devilish secrets and methods to get those secrets. But a rather enjoyable city mission.

Thank you Balboa for this FM. A lot of fun. Playing on expert, but not 100% finished yet. I'm just collecting additional loot and exploring more at this point for fun.

    A possible bug:

Someone else reported earlier that a "slow down bug" for walking and running was occurring. I also experienced this 2x. Once in the museum right after coming back from the "boat place" and once again much later. Movement was similar to carrying a boulder. A boulder or body I could not drop. The solution is to pick up something heavy and toss it away. A body, boulder, big vase, etc. The slow curse would then be broken.

A small map mission that feels huge. Some sneaky stuff puzzle-wise too. I'm going to play it again, for sure.

Thanks for the observation. Trying to track that down. Can I assume V1.1?
Did you keep the painting, or put it back?
Before, or after, moving the pottery vases?

    I played V1.0

The first problem occurred right after I got back from the boat ride. I could only move at a snails pace in the museum. I had previously blown up a bot, so I picked up the boiler and threw it. That "fixed" the issue. The second time was when I picked up the silver/grey gear in that mechanist penthouse type shrine. I dropped the grey gear, but didn't notice at first that I was again locked in creep mode. I had a heck of a time jumping from awning to awning! I finally figured it out and picked up a knocked out guard and dropped him.

I did take the bank painting and used it to open the safe, but I did not put it back on the wall. Funny too, because I revisited the bank a second time after the boat place (afterlife) and the painting was back on the wall and had been removed from my inventory. I took it again for fun, thinking it may count for something.

I solved the pottery puzzle near the very end, so I don't think it was related. The slow downs occurred before solving that puzzle.

I was just glad I found a way to speed up again. Try jumping 3 stories up while at a crawl I was sort of pissed that you had made the awnings very hard to jump from. Glad the problem was a slow down and not you being a trickster.

Finished this morning, but missed out on one secret and 3 hammer shrines. Got just over 6000 loot. I think I'll try V1.1 next. I know of some things I didn't solve, like is there are use for certain items I picked up? Things like the spare parts (I think I did use a fuse though). I had an antient mask and a horn that I didn't use. I also try not to read through spoilers for areas I haven't been to yet, but remember a hint about one item I never used.

I have yet to reproduce the problem, but V1.1 did address some wonkiness issues. Maybe it's fixed, maybe not. YMMV.
Some items you can pick up have no purpose except to obscure the useful items. The Relics of Old Gods are just McGruffins (other than the Chalice of Woe, of course)

Now playing V1.1 and I did not slow down after picking up the grey gear in that attic. Seems that the slow bug may just be random. My installation is pretty clean and all mods are off. V1.1 seems less glitchy. I'll report if I run into the slow down again and will try to be very specific when it happens. Meanwhile I'm having fun speeding through game play, since I know my way around.

And thanks for the word on the random objects. Sort of like the gold glowing brief case in Pulp Fiction. It's important, but not. A sort of misdirection.

I am cheating a bit the second time around since I am playing on normal. Some of the AI on expert were a bit of a pain in the neck. I hope there are no areas or objectives that normal can't visit or achieve. I look forward to opening some doors that I didn't get keys to the last playthrough.

Hi, can i ask more about this fiendsihly clever solution in balcony apartment please? Nothing special in that room, any frobbable but a book, just a tray, some paintings, furniture, an unknockable door. What should i do there? By now, I am really excited.
One more question: in the area around the museum, where you have to listen to the guards' dialogue, one of the guards leaves after the conversation is over. Is it possible to follow him? Door is unpickable.
I'm fascinated by this great mission, but it's also challenging and makes me sweat, even after many years of playing Thief.
Thank you Balboa for this impressive mission!

You neglected to mention the light switch.

The doors through Newgate are an additional route in Normal difficulty. Nothing else to see there.

I need help, Iīm stuck in the (death) garden in which it says "only one key does not lead to death". All keys I grab disappear. Where do I find the correct one?

Also with the Shalebridge ceramics: I placed all four jars on the pedestals and a light appeared on top of them, but then what happens next? The wall safe didnīt open. What else do I have to do?

Well, the one that doesn't disappear? (sorry, but that is really the correct answer.)
Look at the faces. there is one with its eyes closed.

If you line the jars up for the display configuration, of course the safe won't open. Try to rearrange the jars until you can light some of the green lights, then figure out the rest.

Very fun mission, I finished it yesterday. I loved how one moment you were in a slightly dilapidated part of town, the next in the fancy district, later in the Mechanist-run museum and THEN in a freaking island of the dead. I really had a good time with this one.

Having fun with this one! Completed the main mission pretty quickly, but now searching for the non-essential stuff.
It's a fairly stress-free stroll now as I've disposed of all the guards in the streets by luring them under various elevators.

However, one thing I seem to be missing is the monocle. Can some one point me in the right direction please.

One thing I notice in the bank, if you frob the safe description plaque, the painting goes back onto the wall!

Oops. I'll clean that up in another bugfix release.
Another bug, that was (unfortunately) discovered during a live stream (very embarrassing ): If you don't hang around to listen to the statue's full monolog, you will find yourself condemned to Hell for all eternity.
That will also be fixed in a future release. Until then, don't do that.
As for the monocle, some ruins in Oak Hollow deserve further investigation.

Thanks, Balboa. got me on my way again.

    Calling it a day now, 5 Shrines, 2 Secrets & 6026 loot.
Got the Gems & Wealth of Sarnoff.
Loved the little bits of loot distributed around e.g. the bank clock.

    Never did find :
An elevator that wasn't working or
A house with a hole in the roof or
    The flooded area
What did I have to do with all those spare parts?

I did manage to roof-hop to the guard over the Old Town gate and also climbed out of the map in the same area by mantling on to a lamp post, then a roof.

One I shall definitely play again when everything has been revealed.
Thanks for all your hard work Balboa.

I keep having an odd issue with this one where everything from Garrett walking to moving the camera around gets very choppy and wonky. I've re-downloaded and re-installed a few times and sometimes it seems to work fine but it happens again after a couple minutes. I've seen some people mention something similar with certain triggers but it seems to be happening randomly near the beginning. I've checked a handful of beefier FMs and they all seem to be working as smoothly as before so I dunno. Very odd.
