    Escape From Blackstone Crypt questions

when i get 1250 gold, the "kill the guy who cut your rope" gets checked off. when i kill that thief, the "escape from the crypt" gets checked off. i've been all over this map (which seems much bigger than the other 64 cube maps), and found 3 of 4 secrets, but i can't get the other two objectives checked. so where are the five torches? i put out the 5 candles around the small pool, but nothing happened. and what is the ritual key for? the only thing still locked is the gate behind the wall of the thief's hideout, but there's nothing behind that except another wall.

i also can't find the ring on dreamslide, but only looked for a couple of minutes. the rest of the 64 maps were great. i'll vote once i finish these two.

    Spoiler:
There seems to be a problem with the objectives in this mission. They're mixed up, but the mission still finished fine for me. The candles by the pool are not what you need to put out. You need to go back to the Mastisson crypt and look for a button hidden in the corner, sort of beside the shelf(at floor level, not on the ladder). That leads you to the correct area with the torches. You don't need the Ritual key to finish.

In Dreamslide, there is a tiny gold ring on the bottom of the pool. It's really hard to see.

The author of Blackstone (which could be me for all you know) switched around the actual Dromed goals order during the final stages of mission production but forgot to make the necessary changes to the goals.str file, so you get the mixed up goal-check-off order. It will be fixed after the voting period is over.

Yeah, I'm glad somebody else noticed the size of this FM being "bigger than the others". I felt the same way, too. It seemed like the mission was twice as big as most of the others.

As for the Ritual Key, it works on the door down in the sewer tunnels, which can also be picked with the lockpicks.

I really hated that objectives problem thing, or this would have been my favorite 64 cubed FM. Oh, well. It was still fun!

Not only does he thank himself, but he sings to himself too....very strange. Oh, and tricky! Yeah, that's right.

Help !! Can't find the way out of this mission !! I have lots of loot but the objective never got crossed off ?? So far -- I killed everybody/thing in the mission but must have missed a key to the west gate or the gate down in the secret area area. Any help appreciated. --The Geez

    old geezer -
    Spoiler:
You've already killed the thief that is standing not too far from the west gate? If you've done that, walk right over to the west gate and the mission should end. There is not key to it. The objectives are messed up on this one, so they don't tick off in the correct order, but the mission did end for me when I got close enough to the gate. I have heard that it wouldn't end at all for some people, though.

    Spoiler:
I think what you're looking for if the hard to find button that moves a coffin thing, opening the way down to the secret area. Go to the room with the ladders and all the coffins, the button is to the left of them up along the wall - look very very carefully till you find it

Hello! I think it is the first time I resurrect a 12 year old thread! With that in mind, I hold no illusions to see a reply, much less with somebody actually remember the details of this oldie, but I can at least use this as an excuse to comment on it.
I played this mission out of curiosity and was surprised by how good it actually is. Lovely sense of humor and absurdity, but still nice atmosphere. (I'm not even sure ambient sounds would've improved anything. It was kind of special as it was.) However, I am hopelessly stuck. I found the 5 torches (thanks to this thread, in fact), but I cannot find the thief and I think it's probably because I can't access the church area cause I cannot find a key for it. I have 2 keys but neither of them are of any use.
So yeah, if anybody happens to have played this mission and have an amazing memory, I'd appreciate it. Couldn't find any walkthrough or another thread explaining this exact thing, but my scanning abilities may have crapped out.

EDIT: NEVER THE MIND. The universal rule of finding the answer RIGHT AFTER asking for help did one on me yet again. Turns out I had to rope up right at the gardeny entrance with the door to the church. My thief skills have become rusty, heh.

I'm glad you solved your problem but a mission is never too old to ask a question about here! You probably would have gotten help if you needed it.

Sometimes I wonder how I miss something that is so super obvious. Nice little mission.

I could not figure out where to go until going back into the priest bedroom and suddenly the picture on the wall highlights as a usable thing. Find the key that gets me into the church.
