    I'll salt YOUR fries!!!!!!!!!!

    Stupid game! C'mon! Work!

    Now SS1 won't start... I try to set the memory to 560, but it keeps switching back to auto, meaning my SS1 game won't work for more than 3 minutes... Grrrrrr...

    In Windows Explorer, rightclick on cdshock.bat and left click on Properties in the context menu to create a PIF.

    In the Memory tab of the Properties dialogue box, configure the settings as follows:

    Under "Conventional"
    total=auto
    init=4096

    Under "EMS"
    ems=none

    Under "XMS"
    xms=10240
    dpmi=10240

    In the MISC tab of the Properties dialogue box, configure the settings as follows:

    uncheck "PrtSc"

    Save your work by clicking OK, and then launch CDSHOCK.BAT.

    Cheers,

    G.

    Oh geez.

    After you saying that, the sanity of this thread has gone down the proverbial toilet.

    Thanks, Grundbegriff, but it still doesn't work. I've got the disk version. Anybody?

    For the disk version you have to create a .pif for the sshock.exe, of course. I tried the setting which I applied to the cdshock.bat from the CD version (DPMI=16 KB), but that would not suffice. After adding the adding the conventional memory setting to 560 KB, it worked in the Windows GUI. I'm using Win98SE, BTW.
    Make sure your memory report looks somewhat like that screenshot after modifying your start files, then you should be able to play any DOS game without further hassle.
