I was alway wonder. Exactly what happened to Rebbeca? How the hell could shodan get inside her? How did Rebbeca get her hair like that? How can I get my hair like that?
It was my understanding that SHODAN hates flesh, so why would she ever take refuge inside a human body. It just doens't make sense.
Anyone want to make it make sense to me?

Here's what I think, remember when Rebecca got bitten by that spider? I think the toxin 'prepared' her so that Shodan could take over her body if necessary. Either that or she plugged her hair dryer into the wrong wall outlet.
Yeah. But wern't the spiders on the side of The Many? Or were the spiders something SHODAN made to try to hurt the many? I be confused.

there's a log somewhere in the game - your post isn't clear as to whether you know about it - where rebecca talks about finding a military grade cyber implant. check them out. you'll see.
the general consensus on these forums is, i believe, that shodan somehow infiltrated rebecca through this cyber implant. while it is true that shodan hates the flesh it's also true that she's very adaptive. i'm sure she would prefer to take control of a "pathetic inssss-ek-k-kt" than to be snuffed out of existence all together.
as for the hair. hmmm.. you've got me.

Here's an idea along a different track. Ignore the spider bite and military grade implant. Instead, remember that SHODAN was using the Van Braun's FTL drive to warp space. How about SHODAN downloaded her essence into Rebecca that way, by warping space with that darn drive. Would also explain the hair.
I thought Rebecca Siddons was pretty cute :-)
damn shame to have her "whateverized" in the end... I think it would've been cool at the end of that cinema to see the shuttle fly by with a big greasy blood smear on the window :-)

Keep in mind the whole Goddess/Perfect Being ideals of Shodan.
That's actually what I always assumed. Some of the final thoughts implanted (pun not intended) into the player's mind before the end of the game were about the FTL drive's capabilities. I personally think that this is the best theory. Nowhere (at least I don't think) was there any mention of Rebecca actually USING the implant she found, and not only that, but how was she supposed to install it? Half the medical equipment was broken, and if I remember correctly, she was part of the Engineering staff (maybe i'm wrong there.)Originally posted by Dahan:

a) If SHODAN has the ability to at least understand, and maybe restructure DNA coding, then that would explain the hair.
b) (suspension of disbelief required) Let's assume we all have an Aura and that Auras are an electro-magnetic field. That would explain the "consciousness transference".
c) At faster than light speed, SHODAN would become pure energy, right? Which may make A) and b) a bit more believable.
