    Events In Highrock 2000.06.01

After The Enterprise, I thought everything would be a piece of cake. But then, it wouldn't be fun anymore would it

I tried to endure the tortured grammer of the preamble to this level, and it did indeed help when I encountered Cunny. But now I'm stuck. I think I know where Switcher's house is, but I can't get in. With a rope arrow, I think you access it through a second or third story window. But no rope arrow. Am I way off on this point?

I haven't even a notion where the warehouse is, an added objective related to my encounter with Cunny. But there was this individual who kept walking a circular path and either trying to get in through a door, or locking it up. I clubbed him unconscious anyway because he was humming to himself and it was distracting. I hope this wasn't an error because this game doesn't give you smelling salts to revive an unconscious body.

I can't get into the larger Hammerite Chapel, and I know there is something going on in there.

Across from the chapel there is a house with an elevator inside which takes you up as far as the third floor. I persuaded the third floor snorer to QUIT THAT, and read his papyrus inside the locked crate which mentioned a hidden key and hidden button. Then the papyrus disappeared, no longer a part of my inventory. So I can't re-read it. Now I found the key, but can't locate any button which, if memory serves right, leads to a playground?

Feel free to jump in with suggestions about any of the sticky points that I find myself in. If I can score a rope arrow, all the others may fall into place. Or if I can find that hidden button, maybe the playground leads to the warehouse. What a tangled web of problems !!

It figures that after we both finished The Enterprise, you'd stumble upon my other most loathed mission :^) I finished this one though, so I'll try to help..

    Switcher's House:

    spoiler:
There's a little shed somewhere near the clock tower I think... It has a bunch of boards laying around in it.. If you look in there, there are rope arrows on the floor..I think under the boards in the back... It's dark, so they're basically impossible to see, but they're there... Grab the rope arrows.. You probably have the right window.. It's basically a window, and to the side of the window there's a little wooden beam sticking out so you can rope arrow up and then jump in through the window.. That will take you to Switcher's house...

    Warehouse:

    spoiler:
I believe this one is way in the southwest corner of the map, so use your compass and head southwest... It's tough to get inside.. Basically, there's a house with glass windows and the warehouse is across from it.. I think there's a broken carriage or something in the alley by the warehouse... You have to get into the house through one of the glass windows (you'll know it's the right house because there is artwork on the wall that you can click on for a caption), go up through the house and you'll find a way out onto the roof.. Then, you have to go and jump on the little ledge sticking out from the warehouse, follow it over, and lean in the open window to try and get the key (you can't get inside the window..you just have to try to lean in far enough to snag it)... Then you can go inside and use a little ingenuity to find the hidden weapons..

As far as the button goes, I have no idea.. I think I found the key but couldn't find the button, either.... I managed to beat it no problem though without finding the button...

fornever's got you covered on some of this. I can help with the exact location of the shed and the button location.

    Shed:
    spoiler:
There is a red house just ouside the south exit from the front of the big Cathedral. Just around the other side of the red house, there's a guard standing between a shed and tower structure. The rope arrows are behind the junk in the shed, like fornever said, and when you come out, hug the righthand wall, walk straight across and you'll find the entrance to an "armoury" with other equipment you'll need.

    Button:
    spoiler:
On the top floor of this house go into the elevator. Stand facing the back and in the back corner of the righthand wall, there is a small niche just above eye level. You'll have to jump to see it. The button you need to push is in there.

Thank you guys for all that info. I found the warehouse and got into it. So now that is done. I found Switcher's house and now thats completed. I found that hidden button, and I must say, I'd like to give the author of this level one of those "special" apples from The Enterprise. And that playground had an appropiate addon objective that I was only too glad to see through.

That leaves the Hammerite Chapel. The scroll Switcher gave me suggests I can bash my way through the chapel, but so far I haven't been able to. At least not with my club or sword. I've been all around the building, hitting the chapel itself as well as the natural rock around it. Am I supposed to find a hammer and use that ?

I'll tend some quarry work whilst waiting for thee to respond.

I don't know where the Hammer idea came from. You need a key for the front doors. To get that, you have to get into a hidden section of the small chapel near your apartment. There are two ways in:

    1) Go into the small chapel (if you've gotten rid of the occupants, of course!) and check out the windows. One of them is breakable and opens into the hidden area.

    2) Jump into the water out front, hug the wall to your left and as you go around back, swim down towards lower part of the foundation wall. You'll see a hole that you can swim into. The current is very strong, though, so if you're not ready you'll get swept right past it. There's a ladder at the end, so you can climb up,go around to the front and try again.

Hmmmm.....that was one of the first things I did. I got into the area through the chpel window. But there was no key anywhere.

This should be the final problem for this level.

How do I kill the mage? I can't escape the room and nothing seems to bother him. I spent my flash bombs and some water arrows on the haunts and spectres.

Besides that, I can't seem to make the 2400 loot objective. This includes already aquiring the chunk imbedded in the cliff face halfway down to the lava river. BTW, I spent a lot of time getting to that cave entrance on the same cliff face, only for it to lead to some pedestal thingy, and NO LOOT !!! As of right now, I'm stuck here because the rope arrow won't let me scale back to the top.

    Grrrrrrrr.....

There isn't any loot in that cave, but if you gave the magic coins to the beggar and he gave you his horn, that's what you're here for. There is another way out that takes you back to the far side of the lake, but I can't remember exactly how you get there. If you don't have the Horn, you may have a problem, because I think it teleports you to where you do what you need to do in there and also where you get out.

As for the mage, he's just a pain. If you don't have any flashbombs, you just have to get yourself sort of behind him and just keep whacking him over and over so he doesn't have time to recover until he dies. It's not easy, but it can be done.

There is loot scattered all over this one. Did you do a lot of second story work in the town? There are a lot of small rooms that you access from windows and balconies where you can find loot.

For the mage, I would really suggest going back to an earlier save where you still have your flash bombs if you have a save that's not too far back.. The easiest way to kill him is to flash bomb him, blackjack him while he's stunned, and hack him up with your sword while he's unconscious... Otherwise, like nightwalker said, he's a real pain (When I fought him without the flash bomb trick, he took all of my broadhead arrows, all of my fire arrows, all of my mines, and several sword hits, and he still didn't go down before killing me)...

I found the loot requirement to be near impossible on this one (not that the rest of the level was exactly a piece of cake :^).. Like nightwalker said, look for ways to get into rooms with open windows using rope arrows and stuff... The loot is seriously spread throughout the whole map (and you said you wanted to send the author one of those special Enterprise apples BEFORE..heh)..

Yeah, he's gonna get an apple pie for this one
I really blew it on this level. I've got quite a few saves I will retreat to, but I'm going to have to go find a point somewhere before I clubbed the begger, which I'm assuming is the guy hobbling along the bridge in a drunken state. Fortunately, I left him alone for most of the level.

Once I got the rope arrows, I retraced the whole area looking for second story windows to cruise. I guess I missed a few. I'm not far off the magic 2400, like The Enterprise, so I won't spend too much time on gathering the quota. Getting to some of those windows was very frustrating and I don't relish doing it all over again.

As for killing the mage, I think I'll use the old run around the Doric columns routine, because he broadcasts when he's gonna strike which gives a guy with good timing a bit of a defense.

The beggar isn't the guy with the limp that walks across the bridge. If you go across the bridge that he walks over, turn left (I think) and walk way over into the dark part, there's a beggar sitting over there. Give him the coins.

Ok, I found the right guy now. Unfortunately, he won't give me the horn if he's unconscious. So I have to retreat back to before I clubbed him.

Not that this means anything, but I found a ring valued at 100 on one of the storefront dummies, which I had previously missed. All the other jewlery I got. So that is enough to make 2400. Now all I have to do is re-acquire the rest of the loot, and return to the caves to meet the mage. This time I won't spend the 2 flashbombs on the haunts. I'll kill them using holy water.

But first, back to those irritating second floor window maneauvers. And I really am NOT looking forward to trying to get to that cave with the pedestal.

I forgot to ask.....does it matter how the 2400 in loot is divided up? The objective is specific on how much gold and how much gem and goods I should have. I don't want to get to the end and have that objective not ticked off because I didn't have enough gold, but overshot the gems.

Yes, it does matter. When the objectives state that you have to have a specific amount of gems or gold, etc. then you have to keep an eye on those totals. You'd better check before you go any further.

    Oh no !!

I've overshot both gems and goods, and I'm 500 shy of the 1900 in gold I'm supposed to find. I know the room with the mage has 100 gold, so I need to come up with 400 gold that I haven't located yet

    That's a lot of gold.....

I'm afraid it's been too long since I've played it to remember exactly where I got things. Did you find the stash in the end of the billards table in the building by the warehouse? I can't remember what's in there, but it might be gold. Did you get into the apartment across from the side of the small chapel. It's above the water and it's tricky to get into, but I do remember loot in there. There's also a white balcony that leads to a room with some loot. I'd replay it to make a loot list, but I just don't have the time right now.

    I pass through the translator.
    - Low than the store with the window there is an invaluable stone in height with the top of the gate.

    - While playing billiards = a diadem

    - While going up on the table of the magus and while jumping in the table = a diadem

    - Not very far from the place or the river opposite the small temple finishes and while going on the edge, there is a balcony and in the trunk of the captain = of the money.

    - One can shutter the gold of Cunny, for that it is necessary to put oneself behind the pillar of his shop and when the robber passed, one can take what there is, the main thing being not to meet it in the streets = End of Fm .

    - In the big white temple there is a gold hammer in a window.

    - Opposite the round tower, there is a balcony which gives at a magician and inside a blue chest.

Thank you Nightwalker and Lady Jo.

That did help. I found 100 gold in that apartment across from the little chapel. And the gold hammer in the large chapel I missed. But the billiard room ??

Do I have to play billiards in order to gain access to what looks like a compartment at the far end of the table?

I know that there was 100 gold on the table in the room with the mage...but jumping "in" the table ???? Is there a secret compartment somewhere?

another place to look for loot

I didn't see this place mentioned in this thread.

    spoiler:
Jump into the river next to the smaller Hammerite temple courtyard and go with the flow. The ladder you'll reach leads to a small ledge. Walk along the ledge a bit and across the river there's a balcony into which you can shoot a rope arrow.

It's a tricky climb, but you will be rewarded.

Yes, I did get that one radioman. Nightwalker mentioned it. And I think (with some interpretation required) Lady Jo spoke of the same balcony. Thanks for your imput though. Right now I'm looking for a store with windows? by some kind of gate where there is an " invaluable stone"....if that doesn't prove fruitful, then I think I'll play some billiards.

Ok you guys. I hope I don't have to bother anyone with this anymore. I played one of the most irritating games of billiards ever. But it payed off. 300 in gold.!!! Thanks specifically to Nightwalker, but also to radioman, fornever, and Lady Jo for their efforts.

In the room with the mage, it is necessary to go up on the table,
then it is necessary to jump in the great tapestry opposite.
One passes through and behind there is a diadem

That's a neat trick. I was hacking it with a sword before, but didn't consider to jump at it. Thanks. Maybe I'll achieve maximum loot for this level !
