    seeds of doubt (2002)

    Hi,

Playing seeds of doubt, nice fm. many questions, most importantly how to get into the hammerite temple. Read a post that said go to the side gate, but not sure what gate that is........is that the gate is on the street that is not avail. due to a murder investigation? If so, did not see a way to open it. could see a street? and trees and bushes (very dark) on the other side?

Is there where I need to go?

2nd Q: many buildings have windows with wooden or metal crosses across them, with lights within. Looks like no way to get to them......decoration or a place to go and steal?

    thanks

Most of the places you can get into in this mission are obvious. There aren't any tricky spots, so the windows you've noticed are probably just scenery. The side gate of the temple is just down the street from the big front doors, which I'm sure you've seen. If you stand facing the temple front doors, turn right and walk a few feet past the edge of the steps, there's a small gate on the left in the temple wall.

From what i can remember there is only one fake street. If you can see AI, then yes you can go there.

And to open the temple gate you need to press the button to the left of the gate.

If this is near where you start, then yes you can get in there. It's a secret area. Look for a lever in the bedroom to open the secret door.

    Hello Maloo, fellow taffer,

If I remember correctly the key to the sewer is in the hammerite temple. Once you get in and "clean the place up," you will come across the key and the reasons why you will need it to continue this quest/mission.

If you have not already entered the hammerite temple, go the steps below the main doors, turn right, walk forward a bit, turn left to face the gate/portculllis, ring the bellon button, hide in the shadows, wait for the hammer to come out and turn around and go back in, then blackjack him, continue into the temple.

    Enjoy!!!!

    maloo,

give me some time, say 30 minutes to go back over my saves, I think I can find where you want to go. have you been downstairs to the jail area? Have you met your friend mara, she gives you a key.

there is a walkthrough if i remember correctly, you need the sewer key from your friend thief thats in the temple, you get in with the button, it summons the guard to open it like a doorbell, then use the sewer key to get in the sewer building, then... blah blkah

If you've already freed Mara and do not have the sewer key, go back to her cell and look for the key there. It's probably floating in mid-air (silly noob builder).

I could not find a walkthrough in the net. Neither in thiefmissions.com nor with Google.

Actually I'm stuck at the underground temple - the double doors don't open. The fire key used on the signs sounds like a key that doesn't fit. And the Earth and Air keys make on both signs a sound like they would unlock the doors, but they don't.

    Any suggestions?

Will the ability to open the double doors be gone if we try a wrong key?
And is it important to use the keys in a special order?

I don't have the walkthrough either. If someone can post a link or send it to me, I'll put it up at The Circle.

    Thanks, clearing!
I've added that link to the Circle's mission description.

The game ends when I fall through the portal. I don't have the Soul Taker, nor is my money quest completed. The only thing I have completed is releasing Mara from the jail.

I am playing this old TG on the New Dark.

The portal should lead to the final area. I played on NewDark 1.26 and did not encounter any bugs.

Finished on Wussy in 1 hour and 4 minutes with 1820 of 2120 total loot. Found a key for a safe at the weapon smith, but was unable to locate the safe itself. I guess at least some of the missing loot is in there.

Seeds of Doubt is an excellent mission. You find out early there is a murderer afoot in this part of the City. You come across the bloody aftermath of his deeds and hints in journals of his victims on who he is and why he did it. The author does a great job at creating an atmospheric setting here. The journals have a perfect length and convey just enough information to gradually unravel the mystery. Small references to Lord Bafford, de Perrin, and Bram Gerviasius anchor this mission in the larger lore of the City.

The architecture in this mission is not too complex, even a bit sparse in the Hammerite temple and some other interiors. The most impressive part is probably the final area: It introduced some custom textures and sounds that offer a nice change of pace from the standard environments. A scene in which you travel through a portal features a quite impressive effect. There is also a puzzle in which you have to activate a machine. If you are successful, you get to see some neat particle effects.

I killed Deceiver and when I put golden skull on altar, I fail the mission. I am supposed to kill also minions, but they are nowhere to be found. I have checked whole ruins, the whole city with all houses and cathedral. They are nowhere. How can I complete this objective?

I know its been almost a year, but did you manage to solve this back then? Because I am having exactly the same problem now. I´ve looked everywhere but his minions are nowhere to be found. In general it was a rather weird mission imo.

Samantha have you got a save? Actually it could be useful if you have 2 saves, one before the minions are meant to spawn and one after they have not spawned.

I only have a save after I killed Deceiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16mO...ew?usp=sharing

Where should they spawn? Throughout the city? Or in the hammerite complex?

Thanks for that, IIRC they would be spawned when you frob the Soul Taker, and again IIRC there are 6 minions that wander around the town in 6 different locations, you can't miss them they are all blacked out with flames surrounding them.

Looks like you've sent a different save that what you suggested above, in this one the Deceiver is still alive and you haven't collected the Soul Taker yet. Have you got a later save?

PS. It's also good practice to zip up saves before you post them, prevents the risk of them getting corrupted.

Then I either seriously managed not to see them as blind as I am or they really didn´t spawn at all

Looks like the 4 other minions that are meant to be in the Deceiver area are not there either, these 4 are in the map at the start of the mission and are not spawned when you read the journal that triggers the 'Kill the Minions' objective (that's what triggers the 5 minions in the town btw), so yes we have a problem with 9 missing minions, will get it looked into.

The minions are busy with their Easter holidays, I guess.

The 4 in the deceiver area were there before I took the skull though. I ghosted them and after I took the skull they were gone Thanks!
