If you do go ahead with it, could you allow Avatars to be uploaded, rather than require to be hosted as on some other forums. This would make Personal Avatars for those of use with no personal webspace possible.

I do believe most of the forum software out there has a user option to disable avatars for that user. IE: people would have avatars, but they would just 'not show'.

that would be nice. a function were you can ether disable it for yourself so YOU don't see them...but people that want to see them can have 'avatars' turned to ON and CAN see them
I'm against moving to a new forum. Primary reason: I like all of the subtopics mixed together. When I come to the forum every day, I've got a list of all the threads I haven't read right there in a row, whereas if they were catagorized, I'd have to visit each one. I have a half-dozen other reasons, but they are not as big as this one.
IMHO. Add it to the rest of the pool and make a democratic decision. Wherever we end up, I'll follow.

Buho, phpBB has a button you can click which will list all the threads with new posts in since your last visit in a nice list, just use that and you won't notice any difference.

I'd use either phpBB or InvisionBoard, as they're both free, fast, mySQL-based and do just as much as VB.
