Is the project going to be made into an invisible war mod as well or are you leaving it as a Deus Ex original mod?
P.S. ACE game, cool scripting, cool action ,cool everything.
If you actually install the mod into an empty directory, all the files should be there. However, we are releasing a straight ZIP version fairly shortly - hopefully by monday.
However, if you *do* get it working, how about telling us how to do so? We've had several Mac requests, and would love to be able to help them.

God grant me the courage to pester women who will never like me,
The serenity to reject women who are desperate enough to be interested in me,
And the density to ignore the inference.
First of all, wow - it's exciting to hear that content from one of the few "big" mods is finally available. (the other one I know of being Redsun 2020) I haven't had a chance to check it out, but I look forward to it!
Anyway, I can partially address the Mac issue, as I've had Mac users play my mod. (Unreal package files are 100% compatible between Macs and PC's, except for a filename length restriction)
Macs apparently have a 31 character filename limit, so if any of the mod's filenames are longer than that, it'll be a problem. Typically it's not enough to simply rename them, as you usually have Teleporters or MapExit's that referernce linked maps by name. And you generally need to change the map name in the map's DeusExLevelInfo to match.
My approach so far is to offer a .SIT file (a more Mac-friendly equivalent to a ZIP) with just the raw files in it. Mac users that know what they're doing can set things up manually. The only tricky bit is having them manually tweak .ini files to point to the custom player class.
It would be a lot nicer to offer a Mac installer, but I don't know how to do that. On Redsun, they had somebody who was going to do that for them, but it seems he's disappeared from the community.
BTW, Steve's mod, Zodiac, is here:
http://www.planetdeusex.com/zodiac/
...as he's far too much of a gentleman to pimp his own product on our forum.
Play it! While you've taken the trouble to re-install DX!
I managed to get it working on my Mac with a little help from VirtualPC (to run the installer) and a text editor (to discover the correct DefaultGame setting).
Instructions:
0) Install the multiplayer patch (available here).
1) Copy the files into the correct Deus Ex directories (from Cassandra/System to Deus Ex/System and so on).
2) Make a copy of your DeusEx.ini and User.ini files.
3) Change the line "DefaultGame=DeusEx.DeusExGameInfo" in DeusEx.ini to "DefaultGame=TCPCore.TCPGameInfo" (without the quotes).
4) Change the line "Class=DeusEx.JCDentonMale" in User.ini to "Class=TCPCore.TCPPlayerCharlotte" (without the quotes.
5) Run the game.
I haven't spotted any Mac specific bugs yet (though the intro is way too quiet on my system).
Ahh, this is definitely excellent news. Despite DX's ardent fanbase, not a massive amount of content has ever been released for it (probably because of the amount of detail and work involved). It's good to see some content from a major DX mod being released. And Cassandra has always been one of the projects I've been most interested in (probably due at least in part to the unbearably enigmatic info stream). So basically, thank you - it's things like this (and sequels) that help to keep a gaming community alive. Probably do an in-depth commentary later.
I've missed Deus Ex, it's now the best game I ever played. I busted my ass to save my brother, because in real life I was not able to. Tried to play without killing unless the person needed killing. Played it through several times, then regretfully moved on.
Then I heard about Cassandra Project on Blues News. The download and installation were trouble-free. So far have mostly been dialoging with various in-game people. Have just been bursting to say how much I love it! Witty, eriudite, cynical, sassy, with such a delightful british flavor! Strongly delineated characters, well, I could just rave on and on. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Sorry to pry but I haven't been able to stop thinking about that line since I read it. What happened to your real brother?Originally posted by YoJimbo0323

Hurrah on all points. Except the stuff about the amount of content released, which is true but somewhat depressing. While there's some decent mod material out there, it's just nowhere near a game like DX deserves. It's mostly, as you note, to do with what makes DX special as a game - it's a multidiscplinary game if there ever was one.Originally posted by ToXiCFLUFF

Since you're so generally good, we'll forgive you the "Sassy". And more seriously, glad you digged it.Originally posted by YoJimbo0323

The British flavour was very deliberate - and pretty much unavoidable given that the vast majority of the team are brits. At least it allows us to do stupid things like visit the places where missions take place to grab photos.

Brem you should really get out of the reviewer business and take up creating. Not since my first thief fan mission have i enjoyed a mod so much. this episodic thing is great aswell. i keep playing the 1st one and discover new things or i see something i didn't last time round, yay you.
Er... thanks, basically. But I really must stress that Cassandra was a work of shitloads of folk.Originally posted by daveodeth

We should all get into creating, says I.

Not finished playing the whole thing yet but so far I am really enjoying this mod. DX showed that you don't have to treat gamers like morons and this mod goes on to prove it further.
Loved all the little touches which our international friends may not get; like needing a username and password to get into a ZX Sprectrum! Chuckled for about 30 secs on that.
The National Express coach; the bottles of Newcy Broon; hope there are other little treats I haven't found yet...
I've just found Sylvia Plath sitting opposite Bridgit Jones Diary
I like the extensive dialogue, story building and characterisation; loved the modification to the multitool; still waiting for ANY game to have a decent lock picking tool, but at least your attempt gets near (and is better than the original DX and better than Thiefs IMO) although the lock barrel graphic could have been better. Liked the Status display for XRay vision where you see the % health of your targets body.
Downsides: The voice actress for Charlotte seems to change her accent and character a few times in the intro (but found this kind of amusing). There also seemed to be an audio problem with pieces of dialogue which would run for a couple of lines then cut out. From what I've read above this seems to be a "built in feature"
It's obvious a lot of blood sweat and tears have gone into realising this piece of work. A lot of paid professional outfits should take a good look at this and be ashamed of themselves.
Keep up the good work Kieron and friends
I'm off to finish the level. Byeeeee!

Thanks for all the comments. Especially here, you're right. Games can *always* go further, and it's one of our thoughts that Mods are exactly the place to take them, due to the lack of financial pressures.Originally posted by yimbocarimbo

(And I don't just mean in the way we took it - the UltraMegaWeapons (or whatever it's called) mods for Quake 3 pushed the apocalyptic power of guns to whole new levels. Clearly unbalanced, yes, but that didn't stop it actually offering a perverse form of entertainment)
Glad you like the lockpicking. And to think that I told Tim it was a waste of time to change them. Shows what I know, eh?

Although he changed the tumbler textures back to his crappy looking ones when he thought I wasnt looking.
How exactly does a team like yours decide on what to keep and what to drop, does it not put strain on you all(clash of egos and such).

We change them back when we think no one is looking.
I like adventures more then shoot em ups. I thought from the adventure stand point it lacked. it seems you've only thought about the gun toating player. I hope the adventure part gets going in the next part.
Isn't that the wrong way around?
I think he means "story".
Christ, you got me all excited. I thought you had finally released the first mission...................gotta wait for the adrenaline to die down......damn necros....posted in july.......grrrrrrrrrrr.....

No, not really.
If you replace the word "adventure" with "story" in his post then I can kind of see his point. Otherwise, no, not really.
