EDIT: Cassandra Project V1 is now available. For full story and links go to the Cassandra News page here:

Feel free to give feedback in this thread, but preferably no spoilers. I'll create a "Spoilers" thread for more free discussion.
Like I imagined all good developers should, I'm now playing Spandeau Ballet's ridiculous eighties Pop hit Gold at maximum volume.
Download. Hopefully you'll enjoy it.
All is well. I think you know the rest.

Bump.

It's released! Downloading it now - won't be able to comment until I get home from work though.
/me looks at his watch....
I hope it doesn't turn out to be a horrible disappointment.
Bloody work, eh?
KG
Ohh. Finally it's out. Though I almost wish it would've slipped even more, so I'd have broadband again and not have to wait 2 bloody hours.
I have never been so surprised in my entire life.
Downloaded.
Will play later.
Will review tomorrow.
As will I. Downloading now.
Are we, errr, beta testers? Ther's no metion on th esite or on DeusEx-Machina. Don't see any mention on PCGamer forums either.
I'll keep it quiet then.
Well, there goes any chance of me working tonight
No - it's finished. It's just that the current site is only one mirror. If everyone hits it, we could fuck up their bandwidth.Originally posted by Subjective Effect

I'm currently getting it on a few other places. When it's up there, I'll do the whole "News story" and general publicity thing.

I am just about to experience one of the longest circa 1h 21min of my life. Oh well, gives me time to install Deus Ex on this new computer. Cassandra should be a beauty on this.

Okay, initial reaction: why the hell aren't you guys doing this professionally? I've found one mistake so far - Charlotte's "curiouser and curiouser" comment has some background hiss from the mic in it. If I get really picky I'd complain about the odd bit of cutscene taking slightly to long, but that is only on a pickiness of 8 or 9. The fact that you've had to leave a lot of the dialogue unsupported by speech is... disconcerting.. at first, but understandable given the time and resource involved in providing all the dialog with speech.
But, these are the only points of far - I've just had the initial conversation with Nicholas and what I have seen so far has been well designed, well implemented and bloody funny in the right places.
More when I have finished this section, but if it keeps up as it has so far you guys have every reason to be proud of what you've achieved!
"Incomplete or corrupted installer"
WHAT THE FUCK?
Huh?
The exe file on my PC is 6mb.
The one I'm re-downloading is 24.
Perhaps this is the problem?
We call that "karma".
You like?
You're selling what now?
Got it to ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD FULLY this time.
What's that? Error message? Needs multiplayer patch.
Oh, Christ.
Hurrah
At last it's out! Downloading now!
Lewis, mate. We don't need a running commentary on your ineptitude.
Right. I am no longer inept.
Oh, shag, I am.
I get an error about floating, or something. Can't float the .ini file... ah, shit, I can't remember, it's on my other machine.
I downloaded multiplayer patch 1.1.0.4 (I think that was it), which was the newest I could find. And it still brings up an error. Please aid.
To be brutally honest, Lewis the last thing I want to be reading about in the feedback threads, after all of our hard work, are your individual installation problems.
I made a new thread for that kind of stuff, and if I can help you with it I will, but please do it there.
Yeah, sorry about that.
Feedback so far:
Love the installation file and the splash.
Just wanted to drop in and offer my congratulations to the team for their long and undoubtedly arduous trek through a not-forgotten but certainly diminishingly widespread edition of Ion Storm's creative powers.
Grats
Thanks for the feedback, and glad you're digging it. I'd agree that some of the cut-scene dialogues go on too long - the one with Nicholas is by far the longest single one, but it was needed for the set-up of the whole situation from then on. Other ones are relatively shorter, unless you deliberately go looking for rambling conversation.Originally posted by The Watcher

(In which case you'll find loads. I wasn't joking about the 23,000 word script)

Thanks, Eberon, you big sweetie. And you're right about diminishingly widespread. People selling their copies, eh? Don't people keep games anymore.Originally posted by Eberon

Pah!

Big well done for persisting with it and actually getting it finished. Most other mod teams would probably have given in by now. So would a few development teams.
Now all I have is a three hour download...
