I like 'em in theory. In practice, the ones I've played are mostly not much cop.Originally Posted by DocSkrilla

I don't think it was. PC Zone may have, but the ruder content could have pushed it to a 18 rating or something, which meant it was illegible for GAMER then. Dunno about now.Originally Posted by AxTng1

Glad you liked it. Alas, as people have said in the thread, there's no plans for further Cassandra adventures. That said, someone we know has started experimenting getting DX1-style functionality in the modern Unreal Engine. He's using Cassandra Episode 1's dialogue set up as its testbed. There's a chance it may all be ported to a modern format, I suppose. Very vague, I'd say.Originally Posted by fitzroy_doll
If it actually does work, it would actually solve a load of our problems with the material. The more complicated maps of Dartmoor essentially broke the engine, and the AI - pathfinding, especially - really wasn't up for it. That all of this is better in modern Unreal games... well, would remove certain of the problems at least.
As AB said to me when he started doing his Unreal 2 mod, "We could have had Emily backflipping around the base in the tour if we wanted to". As opposed to struggling with it for six months, then eventually admitting defeat and having her sit still and tell the player where to go.
(Annoyingly - the bit where she stops outside Jo's room and went "This is Jo Taylor-Parkes""You can trust her" was one of my favourite piece of heavy handed foreshadowing in the episode. Alas, it had to be cut)

It's when you give them a massively simple path, like A->B via six linearly placed pathnodes, and they still detour to walk around, then over, then ultimately through a chair off to one side (breaking it in the process) that you just have to laugh.
Personally, KG, I would've had Emily just follow the player, and then have her do the intro bit in each convo initiated by the respective team members. The AI can at least do a decent job of following.
Also, wow. Shockingly irrelevant, that. Sorry.
Yeah, that would have worked.
We suck!

I'd just like to say that The Cassandra Project was the greatest mod I have ever played, all involved did an excellent job, and I'm fairly saddened whenever I think about the scrapping of the mod. I'd really like to see what you guys can up up with in future.
I know you did this all with readers of the mag already, but I was occasionally unable to buy PC Gamer because of 18-rated demos. The one I remember clearly was BloodRayne 2.Originally Posted by Brem_X_Jones

Woman in Smiths: How old are you?
Me: 16.
Her: I'm sorry, I can't sell this to you. It has 18-rated content
Me: Can I have a look please?
Her: (passes me the mag)
Me: Inspects cover disc, paying particular attention to... um...
Me: I don't see anything wrong with that
Her: This material is unsuitable for persons under 18
Me: But I already downloaded this demo! I don't THINK I was scarred for life by the jiggling Dhampir boobies...
Her: I'm sorry sir, I cannot sell you this magazine. Please make way for the other customers.
BUT THERE WERE NO OTHER CUSTOMERS!
Smiths missed out on £6.00 that day. I had to go to ASDA for my PC Gamer. CAN YOU IMAGINE?
AxTng1: Shame. Shame and regret. Didn't often do that, however - and not really circa Cassandra's release.
Omega: Thankyou. You're too kind.

I don't think Omega can hear you. He was banned for posting porn into one of the threads.
Just so ya know where the praise was coming from...
The Cassandra Project: Made by, and for, complete wankers.
KG
Just wanted to say, Great mod! I'm saddened that there is no more to come.
Thanks, Sponge. You're too kind.
Now please don't post pornography on other bits of TTLG, please.

The Compleat Wanker. Hey, if you do something, you may at least do it right!
Hmm, continue to express my love for this mod, or label myself a wanker for all eternity!Originally Posted by Brem_X_Jones

hmm... is it supposed to do this?
I went through, and played. got into Debbie (doesn't that sound strange?) and started driving with Casino (after briefings and arming, etc.). So, we're driving, and then suddenly i'm on this Semi-transparent platform in space. there, the semi-transparent Narcissus Entity tells me that i've gone beyond my gaming simulation experience. I checked my save thing, and the location was "ERROR! Report this as a BUG!". Is it actually a bug, or just a messed up way of ending the first episode? There's credits in there, and it look like someone put some effort into building it.
If so, I have to say that I'm disappointed in the lack of mission-ness.
No, wait, it's the end. found out in another thread. *sigh*
