New Mission - Lord Matt 22nd Jul 2003

I have been slow in announcing this and some people have played it already.

Anyway, I have finished my first mission - Lord Matt. It's a sneaker/Lord bafford type mission with a few twists. I hope you enjoy it. You can find it at:

    www.darklurker.com
    http://thiefmissions.com/info.cgi?m=LordMatt

Let me know what you think.

I should have also thanked everyone on the forum who helped me with all their knowledge. There is a trmendous body of knowledge and a lot of really generous people here.

Also thanks to KOMAG and his GREAT tutorial. Without that, I would never have had the courage to start using Dromed.

    bbb,

I am playing your mission and I must say it is really challenging. I found a

    spoiler:
metal door with a crate and a ladder behind it. I can't find the key to open it.

Can you please give me a hint?

If you are where I think you are ...
    spoiler:
    the door cannot be opened.
There was a bulletin in the game that mentioned that the door to
    spoiler:
Lord Matt's room will be permanently locked.

    ok thanks for the tip.

Now I have another problem. I managed to shoot a rope arrow and climb

    spoiler:
into one of the two large glass windows. There is one door with a guard behind it, now KO, and two more doors. There is also a small door for a teleporter.

I don't know if I was supposed to go in this way but I can't find any more keys.

Can I have just one more hint please?

OK... the bad news is you will need to go back down the rope *unless* you have the electric room key (labeled elec. key). That key is unobtainable from where you are now.

You really need to find a way up to Lord Matt's room in the castle. There are two ways to do it.

    One way :
    spoiler:
go back to the guards room, where there is a bulletin board with three notices it. there is a secret button under the desk that opens the door.

    The other way:
    spoiler:
go to the room where the construction is going on and there are statues being set up. You will want to use rope arrows to get up to the top shelf on the south side of that room. Then use another rope arrow to swing into the open hallway.

Let's just say that you really really want to be in Lord Matt's room next

The rest of it should just fall into place...

Thanks Moghedian for the help. Actually to get in there I took an alternative approach.

    spoiler:
I stacked two crates near the angled walkway above the guard's room and climbed up. :P

Anyway I finished but was 2000 short on loot.

I must be missing something major, because I've killed Matt and Mikus, but can't figure out how to get into
    spoiler:
the area you can see from outside the house Mikus was in - I see a railing/bridge area through one window and a french door through another.
    Someone help?

    Hey Yandros:

What you are looking at is just a preview through a window. i like to do that for the fun of it.

    spoiler:
You need to continue around the back of Prince Mikkus's house and through the barracks. There is a little alleyway that has a switch. Pull the lever and it opens a gate near where you started. i put the gate in to force the player to play this area before he goes on to the castle. It is a little down from a guard and a generator. You will then be off to a whole new area.

    Have fun.

I put loot everywhere (since I love to find a lot of loot). One area you may have missed is
    spoiler:
If you go down the alley where the Hammerites came from. Look up. There is a window and a block of wood. Shoot a rope arrow and you should find more loot. I actually forget where I put a lot of the loot!

Thanks! I wondered what the hell that lever did!

Yeh. I got a few comments on that. I probably should have put in a scroll or plaque that said this lever opens the gate to the electrical plant. Oh well.

There were actually a number of other rough spots in my original but the beta testers really helped me clean it up. Amazing how much you can't see about your mission that others see right away.

This is a really enjoyable mission - congrats to author. It seems to go on for ages. I have completed all the objectives apart from finding 5000 goods.
    spoiler:
There must be a secret somewhere containing lots of goods as I'm sure I've visited everywhere but I'm still 2500 short! Anybody know where it is? I'm well over on the loot and gold requirement.

    Hey Sir Lance:

There are goods in a number of places. Here is one hint that shoud help:

    spoiler:
If you go dwon the alley where the hammers came from, there is a store that sells funtiure and goods. Try that. Also, in one of the early rooms, there are a number of plates that are goods.

Glad you are enjoying the mission. Have fun!

I found that one now, and one other unsuspecting piece of loot. Now I am at -1390.

    Any more hints please?

Since I placed loot in this mission maybe in February, I forget where I put it all. I will take a look tonight and let you know the sneaky places. Oh, maybe I have a few ideas as I think about it.

    spoiler:
By the way, in one of the early houses (maybe in Lord Matt's house) there is a table set. The plates are goods. I did not remember that from T2. Upstairs from that there are a few rings in the bedroom (the one that you have to go up the wooden stairs to get to. By the way, in every bedroom look for rings, I love them since they are hard to see. Gold wine bottle in the storage area near Lord Matt's cottages. Slash the banner in teh barracks - its only 15, but you may have missed it. In the glass window where the statue is by the factories are a bunch of little statues. That's all I cna think of for now. Hope this helps!

No this is my first mission. I am on this site a lot to learn and help when I can. I am also not afraid to ask for help when I am stuck (like in Mystery man right now). I am working on my second mission that it seems will be quite a bit bigger than Lord Matt. Have you done a mission?

Thanks for all the help but hiding places mentioned I had already found. This is why I thought I must have missed something major as I easily went over the loot and gold totals but fell well short on goods. I will look again.

    Loot

    Hey Sir Lance:

I ran through Lord Matt last night and there are goods in lots of places but none that you would have real touble finding the amount you seemed to have missed. I had one thought, but i can't see how you could finish the other objectives without finding this but:

    spoiler:
There is a silver flute in the treasury that is worth 5000 in goods. The treasury is behind the secret door in Lord Matt's room on the third floor. To get there, go to the third floor, wack the hammer banner and flip a switch. That opens a secret door. Go through and to the right. Lock pick the treasury door and get all the great stuff. It is on more than one shelf so you may have missed it. There are 2 ways to get to the third floor. They were already mentioned by someone else.

Hope this gets you to the end!

This was an extremely fun FM bbb. I loved replaying the Hammer/Guard scene over and over to see how many guards i could distract. A couple of times i was stuck for a little while but it did me good as i found all but 100 loot.
I'd play another FM of your anytime.

    Ahhh bbb!!!!

    spoiler:
That's it! I cleared the treasury out but missed that one item. As a result I completed it with over 7000 in goods - thanks.

    Hey Dreamer;

Thanks for the kind words. After all the time it takes to build a mission, it is really great to have people like it. Kind of like cooking for friends. You spend all this time preparing and it is eaten in no time at all, but if everyone ejoys it, it is worth it.

All but 100? You are REALLY GOOD! I played it right before I released it and I missed something like 500!

    Glad you enjoyed. Thanks again.

    BBB

ps: Next mission in process but still probably 4-6 months off.
