The Enterprise for Thief 2 Released

    The Enterprise for Thief 2

EDIT: As of Aug 1, 2003 the file is Enterprise21a.zip -- all loot can be now found (100g was buried inside a wall). Also improvements to audio have been made for those listening over headphones, and a few other minor tweaks.

Wow, is 36MB the new record for a single .mis file? Even Calendra's Legacy mission2 topped out 10MB smaller.

Anyway, I have this ready to go in my archive; I'll hold off until the 1st before making it available.

Great. I'll make sure to make this available on #thief-fms no sooner than August 1 .

A 36mb .mis file?? oh my taffing god, that's incredible! *does another little dance*

Congratulations on the release, Frobber. This is a very nice remake of the original mission with lots of improvements. I had a great time while testing it and can highly recommend it. Great atmosphere, too.

    Great!

Downloading now, hoping to play it during my vacation (on my laptop, now that I have a new one that supports 3D hw acceleration )!

I enjoyed the original Enterprise, as I have greatly enjoyed all your missions! It's a real treat to see a re-release of The Enterprise!

    Hey Frobber,

Just finished the new and improved The Enterprise. Very nice. Good story with an effective conclusion. The rain effects and the music were very cool. Also really liked the new sounds effects.

Any of you who have played the T1 version should give this mission another look. While the basic story and placement is basically thesame the additions are very nice. The emersive effect is very effective now.

Frobber, did you rewrite or add to some of the texts? The story line just seemed deeper to me this time around.

Griffin -- There is more to read, yes, but nothing required to win the mission.

nil8hate -- I just sent you email about the Part 1 secret.

Aargh!!! -- I forgot to give credit to Thorin Oakenshield for that AVI movie in the readme. He made for the intro to Hallucinations, and I use it again here. Looks like an updated readme will be needed.

So frobber, do you still want the old Enterprise to hang around? I mean, if this is the definitive version, isn't it like the old version was "unfinished" or something? Basically the question is, would you want anyone to play the old Enterprise with this new version out?

From day one The Enterprise was supposed to wind up as a T2 mission. I wanted fog and rain at least.

But I finally decided to let it go initially as a Thief 1 mission -- which was a good choice, since it's taken a few years to learn DromEd2 to the point where this mission can look and play the way I had wanted originally. The Thief 1 version was finished at the time, but since then I understand the story of the series better and I've tweaked it in DromEd2 to form a more solid foundation. But the original does an okay job, just not with as much detail.

The Thief 2 release is now the definative version, yes. But there is no reason to ditch the Thief 1 release. And with hundreds of copies floating around, there is no way to stop it from being played anyhow.

    Enterprise T2

I was never able to complete the FM for T1 as it became very
distorted and the sound went crazy. I would like to play the new FM, however,
I have a ? regarding the walkthrough submitted for T1. Will this walkthrough
cover the new T2 FM? Is the story line the same?

    Never mind it worked.
