    T2 FM: Lord Fishkill's Curse (Aug. 22, 2003)

After months of beta-testing and bug fixing, I've finally finished another mission in the Lord Fishkill series.

    "Lord Fishkill's Curse"

    Another (hopefully) innovative FM.

Apologies to my beta-testers. I really didn't mean to make you all play it 400 times to find all the bugs.

Yes, I based it on the architecture of LOTP.
(I know, another architecture rip off. I promise the next one will be all my own architecture)

    You can get it here;
    http://www.thiefmissions.com/m/LFCurse

I hope you enjoy it. Have Fun!

Folks, this one is relatively large (35MB) so there will be a significant traffic jam waiting to grab it. Please be patient; if you get to the info screen and find that there are too many downloaders, just wait a bit and reload. I've hidden the news entry on the front page of thiefmissions.com to give folks who read this forum a bit of a head start. I'm sure the mission will shortly be posted to various mirror sites and the Usenet newsgroup (alt.binaries.games.thief) soon.

If any mirror sites can't get a copy, contact me privately and I'll point you to an unrestricted download.

You guys are in for a real treat! There is some amazingly innovative work (not surprising from Shadowspawn) and a great storyline. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did while betatesting!

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but you say this is another in the Fishkill series and I was unable to find any other Fishkill missions doing a search both on this site and thiefmissions. Is this the first in the series?

Please help a poor, confused taffer.

I think "Fishmonger" was the one before this.

Wheres the observatory the keeper guy talked about in his letter?

That's what the "other missions by this author" link is for.
Lorgan's Web was the preceeding mission in the series. It is excellent.

Thanks, I had tried the other missions by author link but I just confused myself over the names. I have played Lorgan's Web and it is excellent, so I'll be sure to check this one out.

    Trouble with custom script requirement

    Hello,

I'm in the beginning room and the first time I frobbed the door, I'm given the message that I need Gayle Saver's customer scripts to run. Alrighty.

I go to Dromed Central. Tools. Find the link to the User Scripts for T2 - link is broken (it references Cheap Missions old domain). Use my brain to find the current file and download. Extract the two files into my Thief 2 directory. Run mission, load from my save and frob the door.

    Same message.

Well. Hunt around on the web until find Gayle Saver's website on Geocities. Download his copy of the archive and extract. Replace the other files. Run Thief, etc. etc. etc.

    Same bloody message.

Maybe I need to run original mission? So I do, then install LF's Curse again, run, load saved game, frob the damn door.

    Yep - same message.

Search forums - find a mention that the file "darkhooks.dlx" used to be called "darkhooks.dll" - maybe I need to rename it and that info has been left out of the readme?

Rename to "darkhooks.dll". Repeat above steps.

    Same lousy message.

I'd simply be delighted to play this mission if I could past the rotten door. Anyone have any ideas?

    System:

    Thief II, fully patched
    Windows XP Professional
Tons of hard drive space, 512 mb memory, 64 mb video RAM, EAX capable sound card

    Thanks for any help!

    Cheers,
    -M

    Guys,

    Try here for the scripts;
    http://www.geocities.com/gaylesaver/scr_index.html

I'm sorry but I did't realize the Dromed Central links were broken. I'll try and get the powers that be to fix the links.

Once the game starts, wait a second or two before trying the door. Sometimes it takes a moment for everything to settle down.

Sluggs, you're not gonna like it without the scripts. Turning lights off won't remove the stim which causes the curse effect.

    Hello Shadowspawn,

I've just given it a good 5 minutes and no luck, I'm afraid. I have the latest scripts from Gayle's site, extracted into my Thief directory. The files are:

    darkhooks.dlx 3-22-03
    script.osm 4-7-03

    The original archive is entitled:

    UsrScriptT2_1x2.zip

    Is that the correct version?

    Cheers!

    It opened!

Whee! I went away and came back about 10 minutes later, and the door opened! Wahoo!

    Onward!

    Cheers!

I was dissapointed... I thought there was going to be 2 playable missions... oh well, I guess I will have to wait until next time to see Garrett meet the wizard to remove his curse...

    Scripts:

    www.thiefmissions.com/scripts

Download the T2 version and extract all files to the directory in your Darkloader setup (aka your installation directory). Mine is C:\Games\Thief2.

    Noooo!

    Thief crashed on me when
    spoiler:
one of those skeletal warriors spooked someone in the pub
and i was taken to the desktop!

Everything was working fine until then!

    I liked the
    spoiler:
new spooks, very scary! And the machinery under the bell tower.
