    Suggestions

I figured it might be nice for people make suggestions on what they would like to see included. Don’t know if it would have any effect, but there should be very little harm in suggesting.

Anyway, for me I would like to see Discordians, those being followers of Eris goddess of discord. It would go along nicely with the Greek theme, and would add a bit of realistic humor. Actually I can clearly see Bobby Chaos 3.2 being one.

Discordia is “a religion disguised as a joke, or a joke disguised as a religion.”
Or maybe it is “a religion disguised as a joke disguised as a religion.” Regardless it is a very funny, very real movement.

    THE PRINCIPIA DISCORDIA
    Also known as:
How I Found the Goddess and What I Did To Her When I Found Her
Is in HTML format here: http://www.poee.org/documents/HyperT..._Discordia.htm
But is in much nicer format here: http://www.principiadiscordia.com/1.php

A variety of other texts are found here http://www.poee.org/documents/index.htm

I dare say there's an influence of Dischordia already herein.

    Awesome guns

the hotshot from the shotgun IS SO FUCKING COOL!!!

too many compliments to you guys so i'll let you in on what i didn't like.

    1) no silenced sniper rifle (a semi auto for covertly taking out targets at range), a main silenced weapon is needed i think for those who like the covert approach, the downside could be that you really can't have it and another non-silenced "main" weapon
    2) the nade launcher seems a bit like an uber weapon
    3) combat knife should do more damage imo, its a knife your sticking into someone, if you have low tech trained or adv you should be able to silently disbatch many people with a single stab from multiple positions. (actually its more of an suggestion then a gripe)
4)no weapon mods, in the original i really liked souping up one of my weapons and making it a "custom" model, ie laser sights and scopes
    5) the G36 w/ the nade launcher's model has a scope but you can't access it, plz either let you us use the scope or change the model
    6) the guards that make all the lewd comments about you seem kinda out of place when compaired to they're earlier conversation with you. I think steve should have stuck up for you and just have Gary be the asshole

I must say i had more fun playing CP then the original you guys rock! I was simply amazed at the depth and complexity of the eps and awe-struck with how smooth and polished it felt to play, almost as if it was a seperate game rather then a mod.

The armory simply Rocked! however i'd like to see 1-3 more shooting ranges added with the crash dummie bots and maybe a demolition range with bots and groups of dummies to test our the various effects of the nades on

It would be cool to be able to hire mercenaries in MJ12 powered armor.

How about Ayn Rand replacing Aquinas as the bad guy's idol?

Very well done and polished modification. I was most impressed with the new weapons and the new security bypass model. Obviously a lot of work went into this. Best of luck on getting the future episodes complete.

I do have a complaint: I think the last bit with the two guards making salacious comments was a bit too much. I realize that this game is rated "M", but it seemed so horribly distasteful and out of place. Even worse, it adds nothing to gameplay which should be the top priority.

I understand that the idea was to set up some kind of tension Charlotte would consider harming a fellow employee (setting off the killswitch). But I have to beleive that better alternatives exist for creating conflicts than over-the-top sexual harrasement.

personally i don't think it was over the top but it was real surprising for them to be acting like that whilst on duty and after they had been joking around with you previously. Not only that but now that I think about it why would 2 lowly guards know about the killswitch?

That section hit harder than I'd have ideally liked. I wanted it to be an overheard conversation, which you could interupt at any time - so people got to their own natural limit, and interupted. Sadly, DXEd had other ideas, so people had to sit through the entire increasingly grotesque rant.

In terms of "Over-the-top sexual harassment", no, it's really not. I've heard a certain calibre of men say a lot worse. Gary - who, as a few people have noticed, is by far the cruder of the pair - is pretty much written from experience, if turned a little more witty. The conversation post-discovery is the sort of common-or-garden nasty-edged sexism that just happens (Those legs in that skirt, indeed).

And what can I say? The idea of actually putting a mainly male audience through something most women have experienced a few times in their life struck me as worth doing.

Not all of Cassandra's motivations were purely game related ones.

As Blademaster says: Prior experience on knowing about the project made them know about the Safeguard. In terms of being different to your face and behind your back... well, welcome to the wonderful world of two-faced men.

That other guard was plainly uncomfortable with what Gary was saying, but didn't want to come out and tell (his friend?) to shut the fuck up. Pretty typical response.

I hope I don't insult anyone here, but if gameplay is your top priority then this isn't where you should go. You can gt better gameplay all over, but I think you'll have a hard time finding a better game. Also having something that real in the game, though totally disgusting, does nothing but add to the experience.

Reality is not a fun thing, and to have something with the depth that Cassandra promises it needs to have reality. Reality is something that makes you want to turn away, reality is when someone is broken down to tears for someone else’s enjoyment, it’s when people walk around just shadows, the only thing separating them from death is that they don’t have the will to end it all. It’s seeing someone’s life slowly destroyed.

If you found that over the top you have clearly never seen someone being harassed, and where you think it was simply a tool to announce the killswitch, I hope that the mentioning of the killswitch either added or it was more of a bonus than a cause.

I find it interesting that people see sexual harassment like you can see all over in “civilized” places to be over the top, yet they have no problem dealing with the idea of prostitution at gunpoint, as shown in Deus Ex.

Its a 1:1 reflex sight, not a scope.

Also to those that complain that the long rifle is zoomable but has no scope in the model, the optics are built into the back of the the handle.

Both of these facts are based on real life configurations of these weapons.

i don't usually post in the TCP forum, but the sexual harassment angle just got to me yesterday: some women can't tolerate it, and yet sometimes i find certain girls (for example, my girlfriend) tend to take that sort of behavior as being complimentary. i mean, it could have something to do with the fact that my girlfriend's a seventeen year old slut and a new york ska scene whore, but still. i don't go around telling every pretty girl in a short skirt whom i see on the street that i'd hit them up from every direction. my reaction would be something like Charlotte's. shock, anger. but yeah, at the risk of unintentionally sounding chauvinistic, i do notice that some people tend to like that and take that sort of comment as a compliment and an ego-boost. or maybe it's just the kind of girls i hang out with, who're pretty enough, arrogant enough, and egotistical enough to like that.
    opinions?

The first time I encountered that scene, it really didnt get through to my head that it was me that was being insulted...it was Charlotte being insulted. In fact, i found it rather humorous to see her listening in on their conversation. Now that I think about it, and try to see those two blocky-headed guards talking about ME...it is hard to grasp. I cannot relate to her. The only way i can ever see myself experiencing that sort of embarrassment(...and anger? fury?) is in some sort of queer future where men talk about men like they talk about women today. Even then it would not be the same- I do not understand the mores and morality of women besides some darwinian nitwit's explanation of optimal genetic reproduction tactics. .......however, i have heard similar things said about me by women (straight to my face, which i trust less than what i hear them saying to others). When they do that, i dont regard them as anything more than animals, some shortsighted creature who lives for nothing but the pleasure of the moment.

Aw, what the hell am i talking about?

the kind of girls i hang out with, who're pretty enough
What does that have to do with it? Pretty girls think different from ugly ones?

which, to some people, is their ultimate goal: to be able to live like that. for the moment, without regret. some call it self-actualization, some call it devolved behavior.

self image-- yes, girls people who are confident about how they look and are bold enough to exploit their sexuality to their own ends tend to be more confident than those who don't and aren't. you know this, no doubt you've seen it at school, at office, in the clubs and the concerts. the pretty girl who knows she's pretty or thinks she's pretty and therefore everyone else thinks the same thing. she's got the confidence to do and go for what and who she wants. lots of times she can be an egotist, too. the "ugly" girl is the one who doesn't have that confidence, and therefore doesn't think that she's good enough to get what she wants, or just doesn't like herself. i've seen this everywhere. and this doesn't just apply to girls/females, either.

i'm just speaking from my own experience. and my own experience tells me that people can be nasty, conniving, and pointlessly evil creatures (case in point: the previously mentioned girlfriend). they can also be uncommonly mature, goodhearted citizens who go out of their ways to help out others. (some of my best friends) and then again, they can be incredibly fickle and switch from one to the other (i have a feeling this applies to me). people span a very broad spectrum.

what the hell was my point?

Don't always need a point to add in a worthwhile manner to the discussion.

Thinking about it, perhaps I should have added a more "slutty" response to the guard's line, but it seemed to be outside the relatively flexible bounds of Charlotte's character.

(I've left a lot of leeway for the player to define it themselves, but certain aspects have to stay relatively constant. The internal insecurity is one of them)

I think the idea of the potty mouth conversation was so that people would (as they are) try to view it from Charlotte's point of view.

I still think you could make a conversation that could be interrupted (or NOT interrupted) at the player's choice (wasn't there a convo like that in the original Deus Ex? First time you go to the Underworld Bar, there's that couple talking about Ambrosia? You get text in the usual third-person convo method (the grey boxes) and you can choose to talk to them). I imagine that not interrupting would be interesting, you can just picture Charlotte breezing past, eliciting a faint "Oops" from one of the guards after she passes them.

I'm tempted to recommend giving up on voices and going straight to text-only. While this is clearly a sole opinion, it would tap into the spirit of games like FFVII which were loved by their (rabid) fans.

Oh, and would it be possible to have music for the Cassandra Base which doesn't make me think that Anna and Emily are planning on brutally knifing me in the back? Perhaps I should open up DXEd and do it myself
