DX:IW Patch v1.1 is now available!

Just a heads up that we (Eidos/Ion Storm) just released patch v1.1 for DX:IW.

It significantly improves framerate on most systems I have tested it on and has a few other PC-friendly fixes as well.

Changes contained within the v1.1 patch

    - Defaulted Bloom to off when starting a new game.
    - Adjusted mouse movement to eliminate feeling of "lagginess".
    - Adjusted the HUD so that it is pushed toward the edges of the screen.
    - Added option for turning all shadows off. This can massively improve performance, especially at higher resolutions.
    - Shrunk all text sizes.
    - Reworked mouse-based UI control within the inventory and biomod screens:
. Right-clicking will now swap items in the inventory and toolbelt screen.
. Added buttons for installing weapon mods and biomods.
. The biomod/inventory/datavault hotkeys are now toggles (the same buttons will now both open and close these subscreens).
    - Added quicksave/quickload keys. (F10/F12)
    - Non-hostile AI's will now go hostile much sooner if shot.
    - Eliminated monitor resyncing during level transition and savegame loads.
    - Increased the headshot damage multiplier for the pistol.
    - Increased the damage of the stun prod.

Thanks to you & team for working so hard to get this out before the end of the week!

It's just a damn shame that the patch doesn't update the game while it's running without any user interaction. I actually had to quit the game to apply this patch! Noooooo!

Kudos to the ISA team for getting this out only days after the release of the game. Definately addressing a good deal of concerns, and now no one can complain that they were lazy about dealing with the fans (I mean, less than 10 days and a patch, I feel sorry for the x-box market though).

Eidoes, Ion Storm, and former associates of Looking Glass. Excellent patch. You just made this game even better (too bad I finished it already)

But that's ok! I will definitely play it many many many times over, probably as much as Deus Ex I. Great sequel guys!

    Ah, great stuff.
Pity you guys didn't get the time to put this version in a box, would have stopped all the complaints!

Addendum: you will not be able to play DXIW 1.1 if you have Daemon-Tools active. It might conflict with other "Virtual CD drive" applications like D-Tools as well. Workaround: start the Daemon Tools frontend and set "Number of Devices" to "disabled". Reboot, and you can play. Your D-Tools drive will of course not work, so no circumventing the copy protection that way.
Then again, you're not a real fan if you actually take the hassle to remove the CD from the drive for the times you're not playing.

I am currently about midway through DX:IW. I would like to install the new patch but I'm worried that my saved games won't be compatible with the new version. Will installing the patch cause me to have to resstart the game? If so I'd rather finish this playthrough and then only patch it for the future. Thanks.

Pre-patch savegames still work after patching

    i wouldn't exactly say that...

did you read ion storm's forum for the time? half of the threads were complaining about stuff. and most of that patch is an .ini-tweak anyway.

but at least it's here now

They're replacing the interface, revamping the AI, and getting rid of the unified ammo?

Hmm, it appears that the patch doesn't want to run on my machine. Just opens a DOS box and quits out.

I had to d/l it on my phone, so is it meant to be 2.54Mb or was the d/l messed up?

Or is it quitting in righteous indignation over my non-North American system?

Your download is not complete. It should be 2.68 MB (2,811,804 bytes).
