It was as I read the 'Rent Past Due!!!' notes that realisation finally dawned on me.

I was robbing my own apartment.

This is a very nice FM. I love the size of it and also the design of the Mansion - It looks very nice in there. I noticed the new parts you have added since i last Beta tested it but a few things got missed. There are some pictures that are not flush with the walls and there are still some banners back-to-front. It's my fault, i should have offered to look at it again for one last time, it's just that i am having a break away from Dromed right now. Still, maybe i can update it for you later on? I could add a new Moon, fix those pictures, fix missing RoomBrushes, there's still a brush missing on the top, left hand window at the front of the Mansion, at the start. Apart from those, this shouldn't spoil anyone's enjoyment of the mission and i'm sure they'll love this mission as much as i do. You have done a great job, you should be proud.

Oh, what happened to the AI? Most of them can't be frobbed! Did you do that or is it some bug?

    What's next then?

PS. Lazarus did a real good job on that briefing. I'd love to know how he made that lightning.

I'm having a lot of fun so far! Thanks for the great mission! Only one bug to report, which may affect other taffers:
    spoiler:
I killed Castor by blackjacking him while I was invisible, then hacking him to death with my sword. The first indication of trouble was that the objective didn't tick off. Then, a little later I found the book that changed objectives, only problem was my objectives didn't. I got the message "New Objectives" but none appeared. I am guessing the "Kill Castor" objective was what was supposed to change? If so, it might be a good idea to warn players not to kill him.

    Where's Castor?
    spoiler:
If he's the guy dressed like a Thief in Castor's private rooms, then the objective didn't work for me. If he's not, where do I look for him? Also, what does the gold key that appears on the floor in front of the door into the room where you find the Gem unlock?
This is a very fun mission!

    Nightwalker:
    spoiler:
That's the guy I killed before the problem with the new objectives, so I think it was Castor. Also, according to a readable in the area the teleporter can only be used by Castor, and that thief used it during one of my failed attempts. I think he was supposed to get away, and our heroic author just didn't realize how bloody minded taffers can get.

    spoiler:
I had one problem where i could not pick up some bodies. Also when i confronted Castor, he ran back into his room and since i didn't see where he went, i can only assume he went into his transporter. Does anyone know how to switch off the alarms i've set them off and it's annoying me now.

    Great mission BTW.

    Finished! RE: Castor
    spoiler:
I went back to an earlier save, hacked at Castor until he ran away to the transporter and let him get away. Again, however, the New Objectives did not appear- I'm guessing that is a bug. Anyway, eventually I tracked him down to the room that say "Private!" where I killed him and the objective ticked off.

A little buggy, but this mission was a lot of fun. Seems like there's a lot more to explore, so I will go back and play it again!

Oneiroscope - Thanks, I'll give that a try. As for the new objective, was that when
    spoiler:
you read the book in the small private library with the stairs up to the attic? The objective that you get is to find that bunch of flowers (I forget the name) from the Consveratory patrolled by the little mechanical spider. If you already have the flowers in your inventory, you get the objective and it ticks off at the same time. You may not have noticed that it did this if you were looking for a new, unticked objective.

edit: That did it, Oneiroscope! Mission accomplished with all the loot found. Excellent mission! Thanks, HipBreaker!

    RE: the New Objective-
    spoiler:
Went back to get the flower, this was AFTER I read the book, and the objective still didn't appear. Went back and read the book again, nada. Nightwalker, did you get the flower first? Maybe that objective only triggers in a certain order?

Yes, I already had it in my inventory when I read the book.

Has anyone had trouble loading this one ? I get the splash screen , however when the objectives load , they are for Running Interference .

  16. #16
Having a bit of trouble with this one. I can't find the gem fragment. I've knocked out all the guards and turned off all the cameras. I've searched high and low to no avail. btw,
    spoiler:
I've got the same problem with the flower objective; I found the flower before reading the book and got the "new objective" sound when I read it but no new objective.

    Also,
    spoiler:
Has anyone managed to use the teleporter? If so, how?
I really liked this mission. Lots of patrolling guards that are a bit tricky to take out.

PS: I'm playing on normal if that matters.

    Thanks

    spoiler:
only Castor gets to use the teleporter, I think. I've only playe through on Expert, so I can't say how the objectives, etc. change on each setting as yet. I found a gem fragment hidden in the Library (frob a book) but I don't think it ticked off an objective on Expert. The Glorius Gem is in a locked room. First you have to get Castor's Key, get into his rooms and get a key from there that opens another locked door (not far from the bar area). That's where you find it.

Thanks Nightwalker, finished it now with just 100 loot short of the max. Think I'll run through this one again on expert. When I first visited the library
    spoiler:
I hoped that the author wasn't devious enough to make me search all the books.

    really nice job, hipbreaker

i had the little bug of the objectives for the flower not showing up on screen also, but it worked fine otherwise (had to cheat and smack castor through a door with my sword i didn't realize that's who he was & thought the mechanists would beat him up for me, trying to get that to happen turned out a bit nasty... and bloody )

    cheers!

    Great mission HipBreaker.
    spoiler:
I get the flowers first then found the book that gives you the objective. This worked fine for me and just ticked off when I read the book. I was playing on expert and the only bug I found was the "kill no more than 3 guards objective" if I killed ANYTHING including ghosts I failed this objective still loved it though.

Thanks everyone, Im just back from my trip and am enjoying your feedback

    spoiler:
The issue with the 'Heart of Sanctity' not ticking off worried me, but no matter how many times I played through my level, it always worked, so I figured it would, guess not . Also, I use to have trouble when you first encounter Castor not running through the teleporter, but lately for me he did it everytime. Some things may still need fixing, including not frobbing guards???? strange, never had that problem. And my level started forgetting what I had done in some cases when I loaded it after a save in DromEd, for insatnce the window roombrush, I must have added that 6 times, and yet its still not there, so Dromed is partly to blame for some problems. And I do not recall adding a gold key on a carpet in front of the Gem room, DoH!

I really liked this FM, because of the graphics and architecture. Very nice in 1600x1200 128MB mode.

I am having trouble loading this FM - splash and crash!!

I have the user scripts from about Dec, 2003. Or do I need something
    else??

    Help!!

You should probably have newer scripts installed, though I don't know if it will fix your problem or not. Download the pack that Komag put up here and install them in your T2 game folder. That should make sure you have the most up-to-date ones. If that doesn't fix it then I don't know what the problem is.

Have you tried playing a different T2 mission to make sure it's just a problem with this mission and not a more generalized problem?

I just finished with 33 loot short of total. This was a really well designed mission with a few anomolies here and there.

    spoiler:

There is one side of the mansion outside that has no texture. The flower thing worked for me even though I picked them up before the objective appeared. I was also in need of a way to turn off the alarm. I even shot the watcher that triggered the alarm with a fire arrow, but the alarm continued. When I killed the apparition, the mission failed and considered it to be the fourth guard killed. The Castor objective worked ok for me. He chased me into the long pool room, and when I entered the pool he ran for help. Well he got stuck under the low ceiling, and that is where I let him have it. :P

Here is a snapshot of the gold key... What does it go to?

    Spoiler snapshot

It was really fun. Thanks HipBreaker. I know when someone goes to this exreme with a FM, it is really hard to get every detail right.
