At least we might get a demo in the next couple of weeks. If it includes the training mission and the first full mission, then I'll be happy. Amazons 25th June date has been their for a while. I have a feeling it could be around mid June.
Question! (for Digi, or anyone who knows)
Will the City be modeled on levels from the earlier games? Like "Ambush"(I think) "Life of the Party" and "Assassins"? Or will the whole City have a completely new layout?
It would be nice to revisit those places with the new engine and whatnot.

Keys work just like they said they would. If you have the key to a door, the door opens for you. If you do not, you have to pick it. Keys appear as "key" in your inventory list (accessable from your equipment screen) until you eventually see a bunch of "key" on your list, and can say, boy... I have alot of keys.
I am glad everyone liked the preview. I just hope none of you are distapointed.

You've got an overhead map for each mission and each major district of the city. Some of them are found, others are bought, and still others are just given to you based on game conditions.
Well, after reading Null's, I had the mistaken impression that it was an 'overhead' overhead map, as in Final Fantasy X, not Thief 1 and 2 . So, this is just a confession of mistaken interpretation, d'oh! And I was soo looking forward to not getting lost for once! They're not even auto-maps? Oh taff, I'm going to taffing lose myself even on the tutorial level with blue footprints .Digi
an also check your map at this point, if you have one. Often, you will have to acquire your map through disreputable means. The maps I?ve seen are more T1 style; vague and occasionally untrustworthy. These are not auto-maps. They do not update as you play, nor do they show your location, or mark where you?ve been, or allow you to post notes. Another sad loss, but the added challenge it gave forced an easy forgiveness. Also, having an ever-present compass was nice.
Yipes, someone who actually has a good sense of direction needs to run through every mission taking screenshots (for reference) for taffers like myself. I get lost in the OMs and FMs I've played time and again. It's sad!

Sorry, Digi, I don't agree on this point:
I believe it's "None of the above", and rather, "Selling out to lazy gamers" . On a more serious note, it also takes away from immersion. If I'm supposed to be this person, not only controlling them (of course, if I were playing in 3rd person, I'd definitely feel a disembodied possessor), they should move when I tell them to, and raise their blackjack when I damn well tell them to. I understand blackjacking may be more difficult, but even so, I don't like to have my body parts moving spasmodically (against my will) while on a mission. It's fine if I twitch and such while taking a nap in my (Garrett's)apartment, but c'mon.. Just laziness . Not dumbing down, laziness, and immersion-breaking.It should be noted that Garrett will raise his blackjack in anticipation once you get within range of the correct area to blackjack. Click once to swing. No more holding down to ready your weapon, and releasing to swing. Is this dumbing the game down for the ignorant savages, or balancing out what has now become a much more challenging affair? I?ll argue the latter.
At least we'll be able to take out two of the other immersion-breakers if we choose: loot glint and arrow streaks (read the post Faceless started at ISA forums for instructions).
Those are my thoughts on the auto-raise feature, though it's always possible I'll change my mind if it's uber-hard. They should make it easier to sneak up on unaware guards on Easy and perhaps slightly easier than usual on Normal.

Rock!At one point I prepared myself a hefty stack of crates, made a guard come running, climbed to the top, and sat with nostalgia as the guard shook his fist helplessly as I sat safely at the top of the stack. Then I died. I am not sure who killed me, or how, but I suspect that I won?t feel quite to safe perching on a stack of crates anymore.[/b]

Shot 2 looks atmospheric..but..i'll be accused of nitpicking but the distance art looks really odd to me in that 2nd shot. The trees are behind tiny buildings but you can still focus on individual leaves..?
I'm interesting on your thoughts of my auto-raise comments, Digi. C'mon, you know you want to say something . In the least: do you think it breaks immersion (Garrett doing things when you don't tell him to) when this happens?

Sure..what i'm getting at is the relative scale and how its presented..if the forest is behind the city (which is far away as we infer from the size of the buildings) the forest should just be a dark mass/blur.
It's just a vista of sorts. The closest to one we've seen so far! Shut the hell up!! Leave me and my vista alone.
I swear all you nitpickers need to start looking at the screenshots like I do. I never see any of the stuff you guys see until you point it out. I guess I just dont look too much at detail, not sure if thats good or bad. But it may make your gaming more enjoyable if you dont look at things so detailed, then you wont notice when trees arent right relative to the buildings. BTW it is possible they originally did it the "correct" way but found it looked even worse than the current way which really isnt too bad.
Ok, yes it was/is a nitpick, i agree. I paint landscapes and stuff, so i just naturally pick this stuff up.
I just wish that every time the question, "What color should we make this interface element?" had come up, they could have been bothered to come up with an answer besides, "INTENSE NEON BLUE, OF COURSE!".
