Excellent mission; my thanks to the creator.

That's a great hideout for Garrett, incidentally. No one but Mario could possibly reach him.

What's the deal with the statue on top of the white building in the southern part of the city?

    spoiler:
I bumped into it inadvertantly and it sort of ... floated away.

    Shadowwolf421:

    If you mean

    spoiler:
the Horne bedroom, just search the downstairs living room a little more, and you'll find it. The key to the Doctor's house can be found if you search his kitchen very carefully. Also, you can find the key to the 'Vlad Chulentz' house (say that fast and you'll understand his problem), if you look carefully in his living room....(think ...trophy)...

...and yes... I'm sorry to say that I did the Billy Bass song.... my apologies... (flashbacks to that Cheech and Chong movie with PeeWee Herman... "I'm SORRY!! ... I'M SOOORRY!!!!... I'M SOOO SOORRY!...I'M AWFULLY SORRY!")

Little_Dragon: That white building is supposed to be a bank, but I don't know why that statue 'floated away'....hmmm... weird!

    BADASS BILLY BASS Trophy-Haha

Ok, lets break some ice here...

    QUESTION:

    spoiler:
I have a genetic engineered cucumber and a huge fan and am on my last wit as of what to do with these items to get the gasing husband and his wife happy again.
I mean there isn't anywhere to set the fan in their house and i think i woke them up now so slipping the cucumber into anyones hand is prolly out of the question.
    muha

    hmm...

    dealasteal

The billy bass fish was a menacing trophy, nice touch.
reminded me of that funny advertisement of the talking trophy bass and something else they came up with later on?.

    spoiler:
Do you remember Mrs. Horne's dilemma? She needs ...to put it nicely.... some way to acheive satisfaction. Have you read anything about the cucumbers in town? This 'genetically enhanced cucumber' might have special properties Mrs. Horne would enjoy. Let me know if you need more of a hint.

As to the fan... Do you remember Mrs. Chulentz problem? Where might you put the fan in order to ventilate her bedroom? Where might a fan be positioned in order to direct air out of the bedroom? Again, let me know if you need more...

    Have fun!

    ...aw shucks! ... thanks, ShadowWolf421!

    spoiler:
The grocer's wife has a 'genetically enhanced cucumber' to spare. The grocery is in the southeast corner of town, but you'll have to find the grocer's wife's hiding place......still stuck? ......ok, look for a switch behind a nightstand on the left side of her bed.

Hope that helps! If not, let me know and I'll be more direct.

    Dark Ghost Lord:

Well... I wouldn't go so far as to call it "singing".... probably more like howling.... wailing ... blubbering... just a bunch of noise.

    Don't expect too much.

I really like this mission. Have to really examine everything everywhere. However, have had some "sticking" problems. Right now I am stuck in the Doctor's house:
    spoiler:
opening in the cell area, the grill in the floor of the cell will not open enough to get into. Have tried this 3 times. The first time, the grill only opened partway. Second and third times, I can hear the sound of something sliding open, but the grill does not open. How do I get this thing open enough to use it?

joanieS: I had trouble the first time, because I was standing on it (barely, I think my toes were touching the edge). Are you sure that couldn't be it? The pick range on it is pretty decent, so you can stand well enough back from it not to have any chance of blocking it. (p.s. nice colorful spoiler, *grin*)

bassmanret: Very enjoyable mission! Quite funny as well as good gameplay. I also had to walk away from the keyboard I was laughing so hard at Mr. Fish Trophy, that was great!

    joanieS,

That's very odd! Have you tried

    spoiler:
picking it while standing in different places? What works for me is when I pick it while standing just outside the cell. It should open to a 90 degree angle to the floor, so make sure you're not standing on it or in the way of it opening.

    I hope that helps!

Thanks Shaz! I'm glad you liked it!

    Problem With the Chulentzes

    Somebody help me here, please.

I climbed onto the windowsill in the bedroom of the Chulentzes, crouched, and carefully placed the high-powered fan so that the blades pointed out the window and the back of the machine pointed into the bedroom. Nothing happened.

I tried turning the fan around the other way, but still nothing. I couldn't see anything to frob, and in any case, the fan isn't like a key... it just flies through the air when I use the right mouse button. So I have no idea how or where exactly to place it, and I don't understand why putting it where I did, pointed the direction it was, isn't triggering the objective.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Dafydd

Fantastic '1st FM' I believe that this is the most roof-top, above-ground oriented FM I've seen yet. Looking forward to part 2.

And thank-you so much for not making "return to starting place" an objective.

Thanks dreamer and DreamWalker (hmmm, any relation to Nightwalker... )!! I'm glad you liked it.

Daffydd, dreamer beat me in answering your question.

BTW, Part 2 is already underway, and is shaping up nicely so far. Since I've already laid out all maps, and know exactly what's going where (objectives, readables, AI, etc..), and since I'm mostly past the 'Dromed learning curve', Part 2 shouldn't take anywhere NEAR as long as part 1.

Builder be praised refreshingly puzzling, not many doors to open but other ways to enter.
    spoiler:
I did like the jump from the warehouse to the water tower, the short swim and hey presto 2 gold coins.
Very nice mission indeed, can't wait for the sequill.

We're twins ... only I was born exactly 2 months before she was ... she is much better looking as you can attest from "Fletcher's Last Mistake." ... but Thief III was created especially for me.

    Just need loot now...

All right, thanks to Dreamer, I finally fulfilled the smelly objective. (One thing that irritated me, however, is that when I put the fan down on the dressing table, no matter how quietly I tried, it always woke up the Chulentzes -- and they immediately commenced searching. So unless there is a hidden moss arrow somewhere that I just missed finding, the game is unghostable if you read the diary and gain that objective. That's really aggravating.)

Now I just need more loot. But I need a lot more -- I'm 820 short of graduating.

The area behind the bar in the bordello is tantalizing. There is a tiny light there, and I can't get inside without being spotted, trapped, cornered, sliced, and diced. I was able to softly mantle onto the barstool that's against the wall on the left side of the bar, creep across, and frob all the gold wine bottles and the top row of gold cups; but I simply cannot reach the four gold cups on the bottom row without dropping down there -- and that's the death zone.

I did manage to clean out the casino; that was worth a lot.

But can anybody suggest some way to turn off the light behind the bordello bar?

    Thanks,

    Dafydd

Sorry, Dafdd, there is no way to turn off the light over the sink behind the bar in the brothel.

As far as the loot, if you don't want to use the lootlist, here are some of the higher $ loot areas:

    spoiler:
In the warehouse north of the Doctor's house, a 250 drill bit (behind a barrel).
Each thief has a 100 purse on his belt, and there are 6 of them.
The Grocery, and the Chulentz bathrooms each have a ring at 100 each.
The secret compartment in the plumbing company has a purse (100).
If you haven't found the doctor's house yet, there's lots of loot in there (600 total).

Again, there is a lootlist if you want to get ALL the loot. Hope this helps!

I finished this yesterday and I must say I was very impressed with it. The city is very well laid out and the various ways you need to use to get into and out of buildings are excellent and very "thiefy". The notes and certain other "items" are hilarious and work into a very funny storyline. I could have used another rope arrow or two, though.

Overall an excellent first mission and I can't wait for the second part! Thanks, bassmanret!
