    Announcement from Irrational TOMORROW!

    CHECK OUT THIS ARTICLE!

    SS2 Retrospective:

    http://www.gamespot.com/features/6109881/index.html

    Esspecially these parts:

"...which would go on to develop a game called System Shock 2--a game we'll take a retrospective look at in anticipation of Irrational's next project, which we'll reveal to you exclusively tomorrow. (Here's a hint: it will likely please fans of System Shock 2.)"

    AND!

"But why even look back at System Shock 2 at this point? Because Irrational has been, and it plans to make a related announcement this Friday (tomorrow). The studio has decided that it wishes to further what it started in System Shock 2--to work on games that promote "emergent" gameplay--open-ended exploration that offers many choices and combinations of options to players. You'll see what we mean tomorrow. Be sure to come back then."

    OH YEAH!

I never thought I would have a gamespot page on auto-refresh.

October 1st, irrational games website "...Irrational's Bill Gardner will be there[world cyber games championship expo] to present Freedom Force, so if you see him you should feel free to ask many, many questions about why Irrational has not come out with System Shock 3."

Exactly... *crosses fingers, toes, arms, and legs*

Been meaning to ask, what does your sig say? I ran it through freetranslation, but only one or two words translated (one of which I already knew)

Right? Maybe I'm just hearing what I would like to hear, but that article is pretty much screaming "SYSTEM SHOCK 3 COMING!"

My sig doesn't mean anything. It's Monty Python's Killer Joke.

The first time I saw Monty Python was when I was around 12, and saw the first episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus on TV. The Killer Joke sketch was on it, and I never forgot it. It marked the beginning of a lifetime obsession with the Pythons

I am not sure, but I think it is the "funniest joke ever" that helped the allies win WW2 (Monthy Python to be exact). Anyway, I'm also interested in what it really means (my German skills aren't l33t enough )

SS3...can't believe I'd see the day...
    Let's hope for the best.

translation (as far as it goes, untranslatable elements in oblique):
"If there is the nowstrück and slotermiller? Yes! ..Bavariandog that Or the Pinballforest gersput!"

The untranslatable parts sound like German but they're not much like the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll isn't English.

"Somehow it seems to fill my head with ideas--only I don't
exactly know what they are!" (Alice in Through the Looking Glass)

I learn something new everyday. I didn't even know that Irrational had a couple of ex-LGSers onboard.

This would also be a relief that Ion Storm isn't the studio attempting to make this game.

I read the article tonight and my heart jumped three beats. If there is a sequel in the works it explains EA's cease and desist (still bites though). The timing of the announcement is pretty appropriate being Halloween is this month.

If this true, I WILL have a trilogy box set done by the time of it's release.

(God i hope that this is reason for such an opportunity)

Gah, I won't be online when all is revealed, and I'll be offline for a few days after...

They didn't say SS3. They said SS related. But, ya never know...

Hey I don't doubt it's SS3. They're usually not that blatant in the effort to let people down. However, what I'm crossing my fingers for is that they don't screw up!

I'll wager that it's a game that is a sequel to SS2 in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, inventory system, email logs, etc, but it will NOT be branded as System Shock, nor will we see Shodan. If I remember correctly the brand System Shock and Shodan is now broken in many pieces with a few companies owning a little bit of it. So, how would it be System Shock then?

No matter - if it's a true sequel to System Shock 2, I don't mind if they started calling Shodan as HAL or <insert cool abbreviation here>, so long as it is a cyberpunk game.
