New Mission "Lord Rothchest's Shadow" T2 Conversion

First time announcing a new FM!
John D. Made a Thief 2 conversion for The Shadow Of Lord Rothchest" and it's up at Thiefmissions.com!

John D gives thanks to Purah for giving his blessing for the conversion and to his betatesters Nightwalker, FFox, and Peter Smith.

Whee! That was fun Thank you so much John D!

Finished on Expert: 3466/4016 loot - clearly I missed a secret or two somewhere along the way and I though I found all the switches!

    Cheers!

I had a lot of fun testing it. It is a very good ghosting mission. Give it a go!

That's quite all right, Ponterbee. Smithpd and Peter Smith are the same person.

That's a great FM, I must have missed the original
Creepy and tense with a great little mansion to explore, fantastic!
Down 400 on loot but that'll do me. Thanks John D. and Purah

    spoiler:
The haunt by the crown, when alerted started searching 'superman stylee'

Thanks for converting this classic mission. I loved it first time round and it is nice to play it again with slightly updated textures - job well done!

    Thanks!

As I played I began to realize that I had played the original at some point, but it was long enough ago that I didn't remember much and it's not in my Darkloader anymore. Consequently this was a lot like playing a new FM for me.

    Fantastic remake!

The sound sample when you are inside the bell tower, is definately something familiar sounding to me.
I swear it is one of the major sound tracks that played over and over from a puzzle-type game I once had, called "The Crystal Key".

    LOL! Can't believe I didn't know that!

Great mission, JohnD! Excellent job of keeping the feel of original Thief in T2.

Same applies to me. I really don't know why I didn't move it to my new machine. What I like most about this FM is its non-linearity. You don't find too many missions that give you a real choice. Most times you are forced to do things in a specific order. Only for entering I counted 5 viable options:
    spoiler:
    1) Main entrance
    2) back door
    3) balcony
    4) grated basement door
    5) crypt

I guess there are some more ways to do it -
    spoiler:
did anyone manage to get onto the flat roof in the rear gardens to enter the lord's bedroom directly?

Dirtyoldman - tried it but couldn't fit through the window. Scoffed too many of Christine's cakes!

I started and finished this mission tonight. Really quite an excellent FM, albeit a tad on the short side and I'm not sure I felt as much depth in the story as I had expected. Truly recommended for anyone, none-the-less.

Oh, and one thing that was annoying was the catacombs; the roof was high enough to not force you to crouch, but too low for you to run - you could run for a while if you stayed exactly in the middle, but you would often get stuck.

Anyway, I love it. Two things I believe I missed:

    spoiler:
In the kitchen, you find a note reminding someone to close some kind of hatch/door to the bell tower where the sword is kept. I saw this as an obvious hint for an alternate route towards getting the sword, but I couldn't for the life of me find it. I had to enter via the "main doorway". I even climbed up to the ceiling to explore, but couldn't find anything. Also, where you find the crown resting with the haunt (great effect, changing the sounds of the zombies, by the way) I see the most obvious "secret entrance" in the left corner of the wall. I did not manage to find a switch or similar that would open it.

Thanks again for a great mission.

kindo, that note was applicable in the original mission but is not in the T2 version, for various reasons.

    As for the secret door
    spoiler:
that you saw on the ledge above the crown, you can only open it from the other side. Go into the hallways near the pool and look for a lever behind a statue. It opens a door in the floor just outside the pool door and that will take you down to that secret door.

    Sewers

    spoiler:
Look in the NE corner (behind the tomb) in the most westerly chamber in the catacombs.

Ha! I found an easier n00bish way to get to the Sword!

    spoiler:
When you get to the room with the guy that's dressed as the thief you see in Life of the Party when you're on your way there, and you can't find the key to get through the door, whack the door a few times and grab his attention. He'll open the door, you can knock him out, do whatever you want to him here, ASLONG AS YOU KEEP THE DOOR OPEN.

I'm still stuck on it by the way.
I can't seem to find a way out!

Awesome FM there, one of the best I've played in a while! Can't believe I went so long without playing that one...glad I waited for the remake though.

For SOME REASON I cannot seem to find the SWORD! Can someone tell me where it is? I read that it is in the bell tower, but which level and where exactly??? EDIT: NEVERMIND...I found it...it is at the very TOP of the tower and you have to get there by rope arrowing up a couple of balconys!
