Idiots. It's their own fault. I haven't played HL2 (and now I probably don't even want to) but if that weapon is in the game, then they should expect players to use it!

"The company cited two reasons which prompted the ban. First, complaints from non-player characters (NPC) and secondly complaints from Valve's own modelers."

    Yes, a spoof, methinks.

"Valve also released a new patch for Half-Life 2 which would force players to swap weapons every three minutes"

BBSpot is an entirely satirical site, at the bottom of every page it states:
BBspot is a satirical news and comedy source and meant to be funny. If you are easily offended, gullible or don't have a sense of humor we suggest you go elsewhere.

Haha, well, I browsed through it quickly without really thinking that much. I suppose it was quite well written then, because I believed all that. I'm in a different situation than most of you though, since I haven't played HL2 and don't even know what gravity gun is. I don't read gaming news very often, and not any of those spoof sites either.
Duh. Quite a good April Fool on December 17th anyway.

classic case of RTFA syndrome! Now you can make things even worse for yourself by trying to save face and editing the thread title and your post to something completely random!

Hehe, I knew it was a spoof. I just wanted to see if anyone else would be fooled.

"I spent 6 hours making the Combine gun mesh," said one modeler, "And now no one uses it."
    LOL.

    Good article.

I'm never buying another game from Valve until Half-Life 3 comes out.
    Cracks me up.

It seems that Valve watched the Halflife 1 speed run, while they were developing Halflife 2. And they took it into account. There's all kinds of tricks people are figuring out, and some of them seem "engineered". Things that you wouldn't notice unless you went looking, and then it seemed absolutely made to be done like that.

Case in point: It's faster to run, on foot, instead of taking the buggy. From the docks where you get your buggy and the crane operator drops you, until you pull into the garage at the lighthouse, it takes 8.5 minutes on foot...Or nearly 20 minutes by buggy. And the footpath is like a groove; it seems intentionally put there.

People are using grenade and gravity-gun jumps to bypass large sections. The run has been done in 2:57. Word is it's down to just under 2:20 (estimation, not yet confirmed). And the plan is to use massive amounts of explosion and GG jumps to trim off the last 20 minutes. It'll be 1:30 of NPC dialogue, and 30 minutes of actual gameplay...

Great article, great site too that BBspot.

Sorta reminds me of "The Daily Vore". Anyone remember that? Back in 97-98, a site that had funny made-up computer-game news, it was hosted on PlanetQuake and run by Steve "sCary" Gibson(from "sCary's Shugashack", nowadays www.shacknews.com). Ah, those were the days.

Do a Google search for ZylonBane or Zylon Bane, and ask yourself the question: Does this guy do anything other than post cocky comments on forums internet-wide, correcting peoples spelling and grammar and generally thinking he's a know-it-all? You'll see. What does ZylonBane mean anyway?
