Looking good so far.
Agreed, it looks pretty thiefy already
Looks like that arch is sagging a bit in the middle though... Maybe it is just the view angle playing tricks...
The last few hours largely consisted of frantically inserting and deleting static meshes. There's so many to choose from!

Ummm, I havent got past scratching my head and ass The wording is whats getting me confused the most. Subtration brush = Air Brush Also keep trying to move the 3d window with Dromed hot keys as well Alt-G wont get you into game mode. What...Is...wrong... with this damn thing!
Oh yeah, this isnt dromed
Its hard to get away from the other editor.
Haha. It's very easy when you get used to it. Probably the best editor around, although this version has some quirks of course.Originally Posted by Vlad Midnight
Come on people, post some stuff you're messing around with. Even if it's total rubbish!

Well, I was actually surprised when I doscovered that South Quarter in TDS was built almost entirely with static meshes, including the buildings... Well, this has many disadvantages, because if you try to build a city mission, it may look the same, assuming that you're not going to create new static meshes.

I'm working on trying to figure out how to make stuff/how to actually get into the playing part of the editing bit. It just crashes on loading screen
Some of the stuff here looks really interesting
Copying all the .GMP files from the Thief 3 main install maps directory, into my editing copy's map directory fixed that for me.Originally Posted by Jakeyboy
Heh. I've been doing this too. Then I went back into dromed and started click-dragging in the view windows... "now where did that brush come from? Oh, duh..." I like the new editor so far, but switching between the two can be confusingOriginally Posted by Vlad Midnight
Those screenies are looking good, guys
Did you create that?Originally Posted by furunculus
Very nice, but how many BSP polys/frame? Some of those should really be static meshes.
Tried it, still crahes Thanks anyway though.Copying all the .GMP files from the Thief 3 main install maps directory, into my editing copy's map directory fixed that for me.

i know its a lot of BSP, but it runs fine on a 2100+ with 512MB and a GF4Ti4200. in these days where the mainstream system is an A64 3200+ 1024MB and a 6600GT it should not pose a problem. *hopes*
well, if i have the time, since i am graduating this year from college, i am gonna take a crack at level design with this editor. if it isn't toally different from making UT2k4 maps (i know this is an unreal ed and i know about the differences in the games, lol) i'll be able to do some easier things with this. DromEd has been rather difficult for me and that kind of makes me mad, since i have this great story and a lot of mission designs in develop right now on paper.
i have been changing it a lot now, for nearly 3 years. the last time i decided to work on this was in the summer of 2003. after that, my interests shifted over to medal of honor and i became, and have been since then, a WWII fanatic (i have a huge library that my grandpop gave me for an xmas gift).
recently, i got thief 2 back from a friend of mine that had been borrowing it for 4 years and i began to play a lot of fan missions made in T2 DromEd. suddenly, a spark hit me and my thief obsession kicked back into full throttle (last feeling was may-july playing thief 3).
anyway, moving off that tangent, i'm gonna start posting on here more often now, its been so long since i stayed devoted to this forum. i've been to a few others and i gotta tell you, everyone here is so much nicer than at the others i tried out.
the name of my campaign is Of Light and Darkness. it takes place a few months after thief 3. garrett was revealed as the true keeper and the keepers turned to him for leadership. however, garrett, being as cynical as he is, declines the responsibility, but this time, not out of selfishness, but because he does not want to put anyone else into jeopardy. that leaves the keepers to rebuild on their own. background wise, under the order of The Baron, The City has undergone a major renewal, dubbed The City Restoration Project, in order to help its citizens and major organizations become better and more profitable. Its main focuses are to help speed up the recovery of all the damage The Mechanists left behind as well as help those who are in need of a better lifestyle (hint hint).
garrett likes the idea, but sees it as more of an opportunity to gain greater profit instead of turning down his thieving. as the first few missions i have come up with show, garrett takes advantage of the many gains The City has received. it begins with a nice romp through a mansion to steal a golden shield. next, garrett's fence needs to be sprung from a police station. after that, he gets to steal a hammer from the newly built hammerite bank and trust. unfortunately, that does not go well so he gets sent to a new hammer prison in a village outside of The City (and has to break out obviously). digging up dirt on the hammer's recent activities, garrett then goes after a book that was supposed to have been lost for ages. the book was written by a cult known as The Nightbringers.
Eventually, the keepers come before garrett and inform him of two new groups that have sprung up in The City recently. one is The Order of Light. they are a new religious group that believe in life after death in a place called The Pureland. The second is a cult called The Nightbringers (dun dun dunnnn) who perform strange acts of necromancy and rituals involving rather....disturbing elements. garrett does not want to be involved, but investigates the order's temple and one of the cult's camps out of curiousity.
after his exploits, a man who has led a secret organization in The City for years comes to garrett to hire him for a very important task, one that will not only pay well, but reveal the truth of garrett's destiny...
i have already come up with 8 mission ideas and a general view of where the story is going. as i continue to broaden it out, the rest of my missions will form as a result. i just hope that i will have the time to finally make them. i'll eventually write out a story guide that will show what has been going on with garrett, the keepers, the hammers, the pagans, and so on (according to my universe).
yeah, pretty good! i love the lighting so far. what are you trying to create, if you wish to say?
lol, you mean you love the light...I've just got one in there.
I'm not really going for anything in particular, just sorta goofing around and coming to terms with the editor.
