    Custom keybinds?

    Hello! I have a BIG problem: if I create a new item (for example: rope arrow) int the gamesys, how can I bind it to an INGAME key?
    It wont shown in the options/keybind list. What should I do to create a new keybind option for a new item?
    Thx for the help, and sorry for my bad english.

    Your English is good enough, don't worry. I guess you already know that ascottk "solved" it by making the rope arrow a weapon that could be accessed by the next/previous weapon keys...? They didn't have a hot key, but cycling through the weapon inventory made them available. If you really want a hot key, I have a feeling that snobel might be the guy to ask since this appears to be one of the "outer" game/editor issues that he's so good in fixing.

    Thank you! Yeah, I know that I can select it next weapon (or item) keys, but what I asked that is a hotkey like previous games. So, may I ask Snobel, right?

    Thanks for the confidence... But I don't think I could do that, at least I haven't attempted something like it before. I may have a look though, but I need to finish the mod support stuff first, which means it will probably not be this side of christmas.

    Don't let that discourage you, we want new items (rope arrows, vodka arrows...) even if we have to cycle the weapons a bit to get to them.

    Thanks, but I really need the hotkeys...its a part of the classic thief gameplay (as the item loadout etc...). Another question: how can I raise sthe storage property count bla blah limit? As I know, you have raised it in your mod. any help? Thx for the patience

    If you've already hit the limit then there is little hope snobel's hack will help you out. The maximum for stored and used-but-freed property slots is app. 65,000 but since the creation of a savegame needs up several of these slots, too, the practical limit is around 40,000–42,000 (?) and thus far from being noticed when playtesting.

    If I were you, I wouldn't focus on the hotkeys too much. People were getting frustrated about T3Ed when they tried to change everything back to T1/2 and couldn't. Selecting new arrows by scrolling works just as fine and if snobel happens to find a hotkey fix for you in the next months, this is just icing on the cake.

    That's true, if you've hit the limit while still in the editor, then there's nothing to be done about it.

    The SU raises the limit to the absolute max (65535, max unsigned 16-bit value) and also frees pending-to-be-freed properties if needed during a save. (It's probably a bug in the game that they're not freed before saving.)

    There are some very large FMs which get very close to the limit during normal play, but apparently get away with it. (I was more or less expecting people playing Knight's Dream to complain about crashes even after installing the SU.) So as long as your FM doesn't crash the editor there's hope that it can be successfully played.

    Note that for very large levels you have to use "Send to XBox" with a patched exe, because "Play Level" will use the 'Opt' version of the exe, which doesn't have the property storage fixes.

    I hit the limit only when plays Beleg's combined Cradle map , and try saving. T3 main crashes when it happens. (Anyway Beleg, you are just Great , your maps works perfectly )

    Did you have the Sneaky Upgrade version 1.1.1 or later installed when you played the combined Cradle? I didn't have saving problems myself.

    Unfortunately, I cannot use the sneaky upgrade, because the exes in my thief 3 have already modified. This is the reason why I ask the properti storage count limit raising WITHOUT your patch

    Well, it's not possible to raise that limit without modifying T3Main.exe I'm afraid.

    Yeah I know, can you you give me a tip hov I should modify my exe to raise the limit, and what program I need?
    Changes: Hud font color, custom font usage, some sound replace (menu title and ui titleloop)..and minor other tweaks (mostly for custom hud , menu modifications etc...and the keybinds of course, but the keybind won't works...).

    It's not as simple as changing a value somewhere in the exe. You need to move a data structure and update the code to reference the new location. The property storage fixes in the Sneaky Upgrade need more than 30 changes to the exe, plus there's some new code in the DLL.

    Those changes you mention, are those for your FM in progress? It sounds like only the HUD font color needs a change to the exe file (like in the Minimalist Project), but of course a custom HUD may conflict with the widescreen fixes in the SU, even if all the tweaks are turned off.

    Still, it looks like most of these tweaks could be done with altered ini files (or those ..._patch.ini files which only contain new stuff). This should make shipping of the final FM much easier and cleaner because you wouldn't need a new executable. What about the HUD font colour, is that a major thing?

    It is'nt only a new fm, its a game modification. The full classic style hud needs the tweaked fonts, weapon numbert colors and font tipes etc..

    Nice HUD - very classic. Where does the compass go?

    Is the modding part only for your own FM or do you want it to be usable with the OMs, like the Minimalist Project?

    I'm currently adding features to the SU to make modding easier. For instance you won't need a patched exe for the white item/weapon text anymore, you can change it with TextPrefix settings in T3UI.ini. I've supported most of the features in Minimalist by now, if you want I could take a look at yours and try to make that work too?

    Its a little complicated. Should I send to you my exe files? Or what sould I do?
    Im currently working on the compass as a hide/show object like previous games.

    Most importantly T3Main.exe, user.ini and all the ini files in System. If you currently need to modify IBT or CSC files, then I'd like to know what those changes are too.

    Edit: Custom font files (.cel and .dds) would be good too.

    Ah, yeah, I remember there being a total conversion under way, although...wasn't that someone else? I cannot find the old pictures right now.

    Anyway, it's funny that this mod makes T3 look like the DarkMod with its slightly artificially-looking surfaces.

    This is an old project? Now that you mention it I vaguely recall seeing the classic lightgem in a T3 screenshot before.

    So it's not just the font reminding you of TDM?

    Hi! So this is an old project, yes. Im currently working with the editor setup only, so I wont regenerate ibt-s until i finish everithing what I want.
    A little changelog:
    -textures overhaul: I want to replace all textures in the game to a more colorful and high detailed verson, including AI and player textures for an old thief like skin (Thief 2 Garrett, old hammerites, cityguards, pagans etc...) About1600 of 2000 textures have already done.
    -hud redesign to totally classic style. This is the reason why I nedd the hotkeys, and I also want the removing of "normal pos" (you know, the items in screen are stop the rotating and name displaying after few seconds...i want it to change it "old style" names always displayed and items constatly rotated)
    -reduce the loot in game, new(classic) inventory items, classic weaponry, in-game items no more automatically used (still this is not done)
    -inventory lockpicks, working holy water arrows (30 seconds water arrow change), invisible potion, oil arrow , rope arrow (not done, Im thinking about using the blsrope property+ force first person, needs tweaking), hud copass usable from inventory (not constantly showing , like in the old games)
    -level combining (Beleg done this, I used his maps, they are perfects!) and classic briefing and debriefing (brifeings are done, hovewer thery are in beta phase now)
    -animation, AI behaviour and other game mechanics are tweaked (flashbomb +blackjack combo like old games, flashbomb blinds the player, etc..)
    -zombies now EXPLODING upon destroy
    -classic menu and ui style
    -etc...

    So lot of tweaks are already implemented, some tweaks still not, some needs tweaking.

    Some things what I want and still not done
    -swimmable water (I think its not possible)
    -replace footstep and some sounds (aka csc editing or INGORING it totally, just using extraxted sch and waw/ogg files). Can you give me a tip about this? I cannot change the footstep and other tagged sounds.
    -performance tweaks
    -and lot of things what aren't come into my mind now.
    Sorry for my bad english, Im not a native english-speaker, and I musty wrote this hurry, because I must go work.

    Ah yes, liszt17 - I remember now. Did the password reset get you?

    That's quite a project - it would be good if it could be co-ordinated with the (ongoing) gold project etc. because of the large overlap.
