Right up there in the Mountains FM May 27/05

    That's right! It's finished!

In case you have no idea what I'm talking about (highly probable) here are the links to some earlier threads:
    http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87405
    http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95815

Thanks to TheNightTerror, Nedan and Logan for betatesting and New Horizon for lending his voice acting talent.

Edit: The mission may not function properly with all versions of gen.osm. PM with your e-mail if you want a gen.osm that works properly. Your scripts aren't working properly if
    spoiler:
a scripted sequence isn't triggered when you pick up the book of the dead.

Edit: The archive on Thiefmissions now contains a working version of gen.osm.

The mission also requires Gaylesaver's bugfixed scripts. The one that is linked to in the readme apparently causes glitches. The bugfixed archive (UsrScriptT2_1x2BugFix.zip) can be found here:

just wanted to leave for a refreshing evening in the "beer garden" after a very hot day here. One beer from fridge should be enough now, i think....

    thanks anyway

Allways nice to see a new fm release, but after play this for five minutes i had just had enough, sorry.

I just want to play "thief" not "lara croft" if you get what i mean.
Jump, die, reload, jump, die , reload, jump, die , reload.
Know maybe i am just crap at playing, but after playing over 400 fm's i think i have some experience.
This may well be an outstanding fm after the jumping around but i'm afraid i will never fine out, shame.
I will come back later and see what other people think because the screen shots look excellent.

Uh, you're not supposed to jump . Seriously, look around.
Edit: I mean, Garrett says: "Can't go this way" for Chrissakes!

@thelostsoul, you haven't looked around hard enough. There's no jumping necessary. If you really need help . . . restart the mission, and stay to the left. You should end up in a new section of woods, there's a narrow passageway behind some bushes, I believe, in the woods through there. No jumping necessary!

Edit: Or, you know, Troutpack could beat me to the punch.

Hey that was really different! Great atmosphere. Got me creeped out more than a few times.

Towards the end though my frame rate got really bad but I was able to finish OK.

    I was kind of expecting
    spoiler:
    something grosser in the fridge...

The audio was good as was the placement of G's quips. Wouldn't have been surpsised to see Norman Bates scurry on by.

    A solid effort from Troutpack.

I've been in the cabin now and I'm wondering:

    spoiler:
Where is the key to the basement?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Look in the bathroom. If there's nothing there, you have to do something else first.

How bad? In the first beta version, I had my framerate dipping well into the single digit range on a video card with 128 megs of memory, but I haven't had anything that bad happen since. Haven't played the final version yet.

Well, I've manipulated everything in the place that I can see, been in the outside shed, and I honestly can't think of the "something else" I'd have to do. There wasn't a key in the bathroom or anything frobbable for that matter

I really couldn't locate the source of the slow downs. They seem almost arbitrary.

when you picked up the book? Did you see something, shall we say, supernatural?
Do you have custom scripts installed?

    Nope.

But I do have custom scripts, I'll give it another shot and see...

    EDIT: Tried it
    spoiler:
    in the bathroom,
but I'm getting nothing. Maybe I'll do a quick restart and check.

    tried again

Ok, i gave it another go. Sorry it still feels like Tomb raider. Even garrett says
"i'm really getting tried of this"
Each to your own, as there say.
I am probally just not in the right mood for this.

Are you sure you're playing the right mission, because in the mission I uploaded to Thiefmissions, Garrett doesn't at any point say: "I'm really getting tired of this" or anything of the sort.

I'm not sure whether I should be offended or simply thoroughly confused by the comparison you draw between this mission and Tomb Raider. Either way, I don't know what else to say.

    sorry

I am so sorry Troutpack, it must be the heat in england not used to it.
You are right its not your mission i started to play, it was " Just friends part one". by bassmanret.
God what a plonker, i will never be able to post here again. Well for a month or so.
Anyway, i'm off to hide in a corner somewhere and play some fm called "Rightupthere". I think that's what it called.

Like the custom stuff in this mission. Lots of movie references and something that reminded me of Maniac Mansion. I take it the anachronisms are intentional.

Unfortunately I'm getting very choppy framerates after a while, too. It doesn't matter where I look, even when I just watch the floor the game can go below 5 fps at times.

    Currently I'm stuck:
    spoiler:
I've picked up the Necronomicon. All doors closed (unfrobbable) and a picture fell from the wall. But now I'm blocked by an invisible wall and can't get out of the room.
I have GayleSaver's scripts installed, so that can't be the problem...

That's hilarious! At first I actually thought you were just trolling, but that explains it. I'm looking forward to some complaints that pertain to my mission .

One of the betatesters was using an old version of the Gaylesaver's scripts and had that exact problem. If getting the bugfixed version doesn't help,
    spoiler:
the invisible walls disappear after about 30 seconds or so, but you miss a scripted sequence.

    Hey, I resemble that remark.

thelostsoul, I know, I know..... I've already been beaten repeatedly with the "Damn, the cave jumping part really sucks!" stick, and I understand. If you ever want to give it another try, though, the cave parts are only about 1/4 of the whole mission. Once you get out, the city part is MUCH better (or so I'm told). If not, I understand, and no hard feelings.

I think I've found the culprit: TrapTimedRelay. It's a script that doesn't work with certain Thief 2 versions (even if patched). There are several versions of the file gen.osm around, if you want to make sure TrapTimedRelay works everywhere, put your gen.osm into the zip.

I know I reinstalled Thief 2 some time ago and most likely forgot about copying a working version of gen.osm into the folder.
