The shaft looks better with polygonal look . Now it only needs a texture that highlights polygon edges to bring more detail to the shaft. (I'm sorry but I can't explain it better :P).

    Hammerite periscope camera

I made this one years ago, but just made the authentic lens texture today.

So, Yandros, when do I get that fire poker model?

Wow, nice NV. I'll finish off the poker once HDM is done. I just patched Beta 4 and am waiting for final test results.

    So much still to do...

    Code:
    Gold Chair (chairgld.bin)
    Deer leg (deerleg.bin)
    RotisserieChick (rotchick.bin)
    Thief 1 banners (textures)
    Fancy Chair (chairfan.bin) (mainly textures)
    ScatteredCoins (luckcoin.bin)

Other things that need to be done before release:
    Gold Bones (?)
    Hand of Glory (handogl.bin)
    The Eye (eyetop.bin)

Extra stuff that would be nice:
    Crystal Chunk (?)	(cryst-z.bin)
    Gold Eyeglasses (glasses2.bin)
    Silver Flute (?)	(sflute.bin)
    Hagen's cloth (hanky.bin)
    Mage glasses (glasses.bin)
    Mage medal (medal2.bin)
    Bracelet (brace.bin)
    Sapphire Vase (saphvase.bin)
    Opera Glasses (opglass.bin)

    Done:
    Flash Bombs
    Mines (Normal, Gas, Flash)
    Gold Dice (?) (golddie.bin)
    Unrolled scroll (scrollop.bin)
    Pews (pew.bin)
    Pew Bench (pewbench.bin)
    Coin (coinbig.bin)
Any takers on any of these models?

I'll try my hand at some of them in a day or two as a break between missions. I'll take the flashbomb, mines and coins to start with.

I already have a replacement texture for the T1 Hammer banner, it's in the HMDK, if it suits your needs. Also, didn't R Soul already do new gold bones?

That banner texture is hardly much of an improvement, to be quite honest.

As for R's bones - yes he did, but I forgot to take it off the to do list.
Ideally I'd like to see completely new bone models + textures, but that can wait.

Well, it is an improved higher res version of the original, but I take your point. The directive here is to find newer, better textures. In that case I'll probably defer the banners to someone else. Doesn't tdbonko make great banner textures?

It must really annoy the guy on the other end of that thing when people wander by and twiddle the knob.

I should point out that the original model had one, too. (It didn't really survive the conversion back to .3ds format, which is why it's not in the old version of the model in that screenshot.)

I know what it does. When turned in either direction, it makes the periscope turn 90 degrees anticlockwise, so the viewer can see who's trying to tamper with it

It looks awesome! We didn't even know what the original was when we first played the game. It looked like some rancid piece of ham hanging from the ceiling.

Oh yeah, I've just been reading the board (though I don't make anything. so I have absolutely no idea what you people are doing) and find it very interesting.

I don't know what worble means, but that looks nice. The linen-like weave aspect may be a little too pronounced though. But again, I think NV's looking for a brand new texture, not an improved version of the original.

Like I said to Digi on IRC earlier, the background looks nice, but I think the Hammer symbol needs to be redone.

I'm not sure if the weave aspect is overdone or not, I'd have to check it out ingame to see how it looks.

Something about the combination of the pronounced diagonal weave and the shininess makes it look like it's printed on vinyl.

    My version of Hammer banner:

It's in gif-format with correct color table for Thief 2 .

Would it be possible (or advisable) to shift the updated scroll model upward a little bit so it doesn't sink into surfaces when dropped?

Yes, that's a very good idea. I've pushed the model up 0.015 units, that should be enough to fix the problem.

Strange, I thought I'd posted this before...

Willie sounds good to me .

Anyway, here's a direct replacement for the Hammer banner which uses T1 color table:

Put this into your Thief/obj/txt folder .
