Return to the UNN expansion pack!! FULL DOWNLOAD HERE!

Okay everybody! Here's the full download, version 1.01!

As you download it, read these notes:

First, make sure to backup your earth.mis file and your cutscenes (cs1, cs3, credits, shuttle1). Optionally, you can extract ONLY the "installRTTUNN.bat" file from the archive into your SS2 directory and run it. Then extract all the contents of the archive into your SS2 dir (make sure Use Folder Names is checked!)

The cutscenes play using the DivX codec, so be sure that you have downloaded it and installed the codec for the cutscenes to work.
    DivX Codec

Second, use the "uninstallRTTUNN.bat" to remove the expansion pack after you play through it 10 times.

If you have problems with the emails/logs, such as the text doesn't match or the pics don't match, this might be a problem because of the strings.crf file in the /patch folder. Rename it to something like stringsold.crf to fix this problem.

Note: I am not a perfect machine so I may have forgotten something, made a mistake, left you out of the credits, etc. Just let me know about it and I'll patch it up!

Other notes: There may be bugs or other small quibbles. If so, post them in this thread or send me an email. Version 1.1 is planned to add some more stuff (the log pics that everyone did won't show up until 1.1 ) and fix anything that may pop up. Also, the current download is 38.4 MB and there is no special download for modem users.

So without any further ado, here's the link!

Yes! SHTUP and Rebirth both work great with it! I did my best to not mess with any SHTUP textures or your SS2 original files.

This is funny, but there is already an enhancement available. It's a new sky box for all of the Gallo levels! Just download it and extract it into your SS2 folder, MAKING SURE that the /fam folder extracts into the /fam folder of your SS2 directory.

Alternately, you can download the whole package with the cool new sky from this link:

I hate to be saying anything this early, but . . . respawn rate . . . I'm getting respawning to the point I'd think I set off an alarm on Impossible, but I'm playing on Easy, and I haven't so much as alerted a camera. To make it worse, the enemies are honing in on me, respawning about 2 seconds after I killed the last spawned enemy. Is this supposed to happen?

Edit: I definitely need help here. I don't remember the respawn rate being anything like this in the original mission, I'm basically hiding in a dark corner hitting anything that comes near me, I can't move. They're coming at me way too fast for that luxury. I've started toying with respawn rates out of sheer desperation, but it's not helping, far as I can tell. I'm not going to get much further until they stop coming at me.

I 100% agree on the respawn rate. Its completely insane. Atleast in the first level anyways. Pllleeeeaaassseeee tone it down alittle. Cant believe I`m saying that of all people considering my FM, but please tone it down.

Downloading it now. Still 3 hours to go. Damn that dial-up. Guess I'll be playing it tomorrow as I won't be home this evening.

One day after the release of GTA: San Andreas for PC and Xbox, this awesome mod gets released

I'll put it high on my "to-play" list, but I also have schoolwork to do, and GTA is already eating up more time than I should spend on games now

Where approximately are you pinned down? All the betas I played, the respawn rate was really mild throughout the first three levels. Now, in a later map I could sit in a corner and wrench a homing monkey every ten seconds (they really piled up), but blaydes said he fixed that.

I'm also having problems with the (re)spawning rate. In the street where you fall, hybrids are popping up in front of me. Another issue is their ability to retreat into the truck/A.T.V. thing and still fire a shotgun.
Sorry to sound negative. This is something I really want to play. A Shock 2 Fm with logs! Not something that comes around every day, but at the moment I'm getting slaughtered just walking down the street.
By the way I'm playing this through The Shock2 Mod Manager, It says there's a conflict with shtup_beta 5, but seems to run both OK - not that I've got very far at present!
Thanks vey much for your work on this. Appreciate the time and effort you've put in, just a bit hard for an old man like me!

I was trapped in the first map, just inside the door you need a keycard for, right before assault droid. If you go through the keycard door, and head straight down the hallway, then, when you reach the counter, turn to your left, the corner there is where I was. Hybrids were coming from both ahead of me, and behind me, and I was so busy whacking them all that I didn't have a chance to breathe, let alone go anywhere.

I've just finished clearing out Deck B on the spaceship Gallo, I believe it was, and the spawning there seemed a wee bit heavy. Otherwise, everywhere else, it's been fine. To help me through the first map, I slipped no_spawn in user.cfg, and I just removed it, so for all I know, the spawning could've been insanely heavy in the previous maps, too. I just removed it for this last map.

So far, aside from the spawning in the first map, I'm having a total blast. I'm really loving the logs, they're all turning out really well, too.

It crashes for me, each time on the tram ride, when you approach the man and turret. Specifically, the game freezes and the current sound (usually the 2nd email, or the turret whirring) loops the first second or so.

First time round I screwed up the installation, so I reinstalled the game. I then followed the installation instructions carefully from that clean install, and am confident that I have done it right. By the way, the installation instructions are slightly confusing (redundant/duplicated information).

Okay everybody, I've reduced the respawn in all of the levels, but most importantly the first level should be bearable now. Here's the link to the new download:

*chuckles nervously* Well, the respawning settings didn't do anything to the mission. It just wouldn't work. So, I took more drastic measures. I figured if I I knew exactly where a spawn point was, if I'd seen at least 5 hybrids spawn in front of my eyes, and I could get to the spawn point in DromEd, it was fair game to delete. I think I ended up deleting all of the spawn points immediately available in the mission. I couldn't wait for a patch of any kind, I had to have it right away, what can I say?

I just finished the missions, and let's just say, I don't think I've had quite that much fun in SS2 in a while. The spawning was pretty crazy, on Deck C I believe it was, my melee weapon skills saved my ass beyond belief. I wandered in there, wielding the wrench, and I was hit by a non-stop wave of cyborg assassins. They were coming at me fast enough that I couldn't get another weapon handy, so I pretty much had to run, and wrench whoever I could. I made a break for the bridge, quick-saved once I was at the top of the grav shaft, then thought I was safe. That was until I walked out of the shaft and looked to my right . . . After all that, my hands are shaking pretty bad. Hell, all of me is shaking. That was sooo much fun.

I think I'm going to go create a second SS2 installation and leave RTUNN installed there, I don't want to loose my saves, and it's worth the trouble, IMO. You want me to comb through the missions when I'm more alert, see if I can find anything that might need fixing? I came across a few things, but I was half asleep, and forgot to take notes.

I'm glad you had fun TNT - sorry about the respawning. The ecologies must be all hosed up or something.

Could it be, that possibly you were trying to play through this thing with only the wrench? If so, you were definitely punishing yourself.

The updated download (low spawn-rates) should be available from SBF in a while, plus a www.thiefmissions.com and www.sshock2.com mirror should be up soon!

Moron alert. (Yes that's me). After I had reinstalled, I had forgotten to do the hyperthreading fix/safe_texture_manager necessary to get SS2 working on my system.

All is well. Also, I can mirror too if you need it, blaydes.

Maybe you could edit your start post with all the new information, it makes things easier for people new to the thread who start downloading first and reading the thread later

Yeah, that's such a great idea that I went ahead and did it! Check out the first post and see if everything looks alright. The download link provided is to the complete updated version, and the RTTUNN homepage has been updated as well!

It was like there was an alarm going off constantly. It wasn't a big deal, once I was past the first map, everything was good. It was just the combination of hybrids coming from both inside the facility and the streets, I could handle one or the other, not both.

Could it be, that possibly you were trying to play through this thing with only the wrench? If so, you were definitely punishing yourself.
Nope, actually. I'm just not used to having a ranged weapon equipped, so I stuck to what I was used to. I guess it's just because of all my melee only games, but if it comes down to it, I can murder anything in my path with a melee weapon, assuming quick-saves and loads are allowed. I didn't even think of whether it could be done melee only, actually, but there's always next time to investigate . . .

Hehe, I'm glad that you liked the bridge on the Gallo TNT! Try that wrench only to see what happens! Oh, and hey, get the updated version and overwrite all your stuff. The new sky on the Gallo is awesome (thanks Zylonbane) and the spawn rates are cranked down!

Some messed up respawns there, but great otherwise. I could handle the flood as long as they faced me. But there was a room in the mall where I hid in and kept trying to snipe the cyborg assasin with cryokinesis and AP bullets, only a hybrid kept respawning right behind me in the room. And there were plenty of times when I could see the hybrids spawn right in front of me.

I liked everything else, ofcourse especially the excellent TriOp outdoors, I've been wanting to see SS2 outdoors with cities and stuff forever, the really long distance battle with the security bot was fun too, also great logs.
The skybox for the Gallo looks real good, double the normal resolution of SS2's skies. What were they thinking leaving those at 128x128? Just one texture at 256 wouldn't have hurt anyone.

I'm up at the Gallo, some extreme midwife respawning going on but I can manage.

Also, you said something about a camvator sequence with the shuttle flying, I don't see it. ???:L
Uh-oh, or are those movies not playing. Lemme see, yup. Oh well, no big loss

Still, why did you encode them into movies instead of playing them back in the game? You'd save space and it would look a lot better too. I really don't get this one.

    Six textures, actually.

Because you don't grasp the severe limitations of in-engine cutscenes under the Dark Engine.

Oh man, when I realized how I boxed myself in there, let's just say I haven't cowered like that in SS2 in ages. It took all the psychosis I could muster to leave the shaft. Then, I only found 2/3 of the brains, and emptied all my grenades into the reaver only to discover I missed one, I thought I was a goner.

Try that wrench only to see what happens!
Oh, I will. Should I PM you with a melee only report along with any little oddities I noticed once I have then? I'd say after another 2 or 3 runs through, I should have something.

I'll be getting them ASAP, just need a nap. Once I have it, I'll have to take the dedicated RTUNN installation out for a spin, can't wait to raise hell in there again.

    Edit:

I actually thought it was pretty good, I forgot to ask, how'd you guys go about making it? It was a nice touch, Xerxes had no reason to be there. Too bad nothing could've been done about the 'bots still addressing him.
