Level R, the Reactor Level At the central base of Citadel is the main reactor. It provides all power to the station. The reactor level is one of the smallest levels on Citadel, and is laid out in no particular pattern.

The Reactor Core. At the center of the level is the reactor core. There are several entrances to the main reactor core chamber, one of which is shown in Figure 3.0. The interior of the core chamber is filled with high radiation, so only those with the highest level of radiation protection are allowed to enter. You must be sure to find one such radiation suit, or entering the reactor chamber would mean certain death. The reactor itself is four tall vertical conduits, as seen in Figure 3.1. There is a primary access shaft also leading to the reactor, shown in Figure 3.2. This tube is radiation shielded, to allow observes to view the reactor without fear of radiation poisoning. The reactor holds a key last resort to stopping S.H.O.D.A.N., if all else fails, setting the reactor to overload will destroy the station, and every thing on it, including S.H.O.D.A.N. Unfortunately, I doubt the TriOptimum high command will allow this course of action.

Other Systems. There is more on this level than just the reactor itself. Science stations, such as the one in Figure 3.3, monitor and control the reactor's functions. The reactor levels is also home ot the main shield control room. From here the station's shields can be activated, deactivated, and modulated. A low gravity research center is in operation on this level as well. And finally, a small sickbay, Figure 3.4, is on standby to aid in any emergency radiation treatment that is necessary, as well as providing first aid to any other type of work related injures.
