Level 3, the Maintenance Level What was once the Maintenance level, is now a deserted shell. S.H.O.D.A.N has left this level, for the most part, to rot. Figure 4.0 can give you a glimpse of what lies ahead. You will walk through broken darkness, over scarred floor plates, as the sound if sizzling circuitry fills your ears. If that wasn't enough to give you the creeps, there seems to be some type of invisible terror haunting this level. Our scans register a mutant presence, but our visual data comes up negative. The level is laid out in a spokes on a wheel pattern, with most rooms accessible by a central corridor, which circles a central chamber, housing the station cargo elevator

The Maintenance Corridors. The primary feature of this level is the large network of maintenance corridors, as seen in Figure 4.1. This maze has always been under very tight security, guarded by Security 1 Robots, and the main access door locked, unless opened by an Official Maintenance Operator, all of who are probably dead, or automatically by a station system malfunction. The stations systems can be accessed through the access panels. Interface demodulators are normally used to fix these types of problems. There are four maintenence corridor sectors, alpha through delta.

Other Features. The second major part of the Maintenance level is the diagnostic office, shown in Figure 4.2. Here the station maintenance computer, a system separate from S.H.O.D.A.N., delivers reports on any station system malfunctions. Nearby, is the chief maintenance officer's office, shown in Figure 4.3, which also serves as a store room for valuable equipment, so it is under tight security as well, by the way of a retinal ID scanner. Robot repair and maintenance stations, shown in Figure 4.4, are abundant throughout the level.
